  1. QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 06:21 PM) Soxy.. did you pick up his solo effort..? He needs work, but it was a good start. And yes.. I'm with you on the "yum". I haven't gotten it yet. I always look at it at Target, but I'm not too keen on his two singles. Is the whole album in that vein or does it branch out?
  2. QUOTE(hi8is @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 06:15 PM) ROB THOMAS, LIKE OH MY GOD I LIKE, LOVE HIM SO MUCH! LIKE THAT IS SOOO SEXY! HECK YES! Although I think Matchbox/Rob has gone down in quality progressively since that first album, I will say this about Mr. Thomas: Yum. I saw Matchbox about 5 years ago 5th row center, and yeah I can't think of anything clean/appropriate enough to say about my thoughts on RT, but um, yeah, if this site ever becomes 18+ I will venture into that.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Aug 29, 2005 -> 10:57 AM) When are they going to officially change the name of the event to the Thinning of the Idiots? ^^^^^^^^ Darwinism at its best.

    Films

My roommate and I just watched Elizabeth. A touch on the long side--but very interesting and really well done film. I was a little disappointed that it stopped so early in her reign. After living in Scotland I would have enjoyed seeing more about Elizabeth/Mary Queen of Scots--made me want to read a bio of Mary. Good movie, well acted, well written, and a fun little history lesson. Highly recommended.
  5. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 07:36 PM) On our honeymoon when we were in Toronto we went up to the top of the CN Tower. My wife is deathly afraid of heights and barely moved away from the elevator. Me I have no brains so the section where it is glass bottomed and 1300 feet in the air, I was jumping up and down on it. I'd definately do this. You and my dad would be best friends, seriously.
  6. QUOTE(Spiff @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 02:56 PM) So who read this one? I finished it like a week ago but I was a big fan. Really interesting way of looking at the world. I especially liked the part about looking at every single part of the a room and remembering it, where most people just glance around and can't remember much even though they think they can. Not as good as Survivor, but close. Thought Spiff's good opinion and insights should be included in this thread.

    Getting in trouble

My last boyfriend hated baseball--but would pretend to not mind it when I wanted to watch. But I always would go alone to games (or with my Twins' fan best friend and her brother), and he could be conned into watching some playoff games. And, of course, he did enjoy the benefits of the Sox winning a game and my consequent good mood. But I kept my mouth shut about all of his gigs and he kept his shut about games. Before that I dated a ball player, so that was fine. And in the middle I dated, well, an idiot. He didn't like baseball, but did like beer (obviously he was a Cubs' fan--yeah, I dated one. Ooops) so he would go to games. But he usually would drink then go talk on his cell. That didn't last long. Sometimes my friends will give me grief about it--but for the most part they just ask me how the Sox are doing.

  9. So, what did you all think of this month's book club fare? I loved the candor and dry wit of the book. I thought it was well-written and not terribly predictable. And when the story dragged the writing of the book kept me interested. I also loved all the little explanations and math problems and puzzles in the book. A very refreshing and unique read.
  10. Hell yes! I love heights!!!!!! And it would just be the most amazing view ever. Unique opportunity.
  11. A week and a hlaf ago I went to my sister's apartment at NIU for dinner and when I was getting back on 88 the woman in front of me was just sittign there--obviously looking for change, it was at least 3 minutes. So stupid. I mean, come on! You're ENTERING a TOLL ROAD how can you be shocked that you have to pay a TOLL!!!!
  12. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 01:37 AM) It was a BP homerun at the very least. :finger Okay, I'll give you that. But stay away from the , you're still a minor!
  13. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 26, 2005 -> 01:30 AM) It was a hanging curve. But it doesn't count if you threw it to yourself.
  14. QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 10:30 PM) Off topic, but I didn't know she was still around. Oh yeah she is. And whenever someone mentions her or Raquel Welch my dad still goes all glassy eyed and spaces for about 10 minutes.
  15. QUOTE(the People's Champ @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 06:19 PM) I agree with you, since they werent even factored in the equation at this point. I will be happy taking the division. Everything else will be icing on the cake! For me the main thing is I love the game. I'll watch the playoffs irregardless of who is in them (although if because of some freak tragic thing the Sox don't make it--I might not watch, or at least cry while watching, in my bathrobe with ice-cream). When the Sox do well I'm super happy, but I just love to watch the game. Obviously it's preferable for the Sox to win, but I think when you get so focused on winning you forget what a great game baseball is.
  16. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 06:24 PM) What's written under Silva's cap? (this is the High Res pic) Can you enlarge that?
  17. If they don't win the division it will be pathetic, horrible, humiliating, life negating, etc. Everything else I could probably stand them not winning--but not the division, not this year.
  18. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 05:42 PM) Here's how I find lesbians. I start hitting on a women in a bar -- buy her a drink, you know, the usual. -- then you ask her if she wants to ride the ole trouser snake. When she slaps me or says no. That's a lesbian. But I don't have a trouser snake with which to test this tried and true methodolgy!
  19. So, I just met with the professor I'm TAing with who is very nice, but so incredibly disorganized it physically hurts me. The class is some kind of multi-cultural thing and, yeah. We have "visitors" I'm supposed to coordinate once a week. So, in two weeks is lesbian week, so where does one find lesbians? And how does that teach sensitivity: look class, look at the lesbians! I'm so not happy about this.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 02:02 PM) Don't judge the book by the cover. For all you know, Mr. King might bring some serious thunder. The only thunder his bedroom might have is the sound of a stampede for the door.

    What's your mood?

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 25, 2005 -> 01:52 PM) Of course, but when it's great, it can't be beat, IMO. Well, it doesn't say, "Better than great sex" for all we know it could be talking about sex with Larry King. . .
