  1. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 07:09 PM) Radke sucks now.... based on last season prob Johan/Silva Yeah I just looked, I thought he had better numbers last year. He can still have some dominate stretches though.
  2. Johan and Radke should be in there instead of some of those bozos. What a s***ty list.
  3. QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 02:15 PM) Read the ball wrong. The ball was dropping in front of him and he dove and the ball bounced right out of his glove. Thank you. I missed the last 4 innings.
  4. Couldn't catch the game, but either way a white sox winner is always great.
  5. A pair of dumbasses is all they are. A great match without a kid. :headshake
  6. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 07:03 PM) Give Pods a few more weeks to figure it out before you dismiss him as a utility player. Any guy who hits a walk off World Series winner deserves more than a week into the season before people are calling him out like he's been called out around here. Some people really are a tough crowd around here. No s*** man you said it perfect. Tough crowd. While he is sucking it up, he helps us big time when he's healthy. Hopefully he gets out his funk and gets on base for us soon cause we really need him. I am just gonna say it straight out. Some people are dicks. We start off on a little slide and theres no hearing the end of it. People need to learn how to calm down during slumps.
  7. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 10:42 PM) He did both, but the Sox liked his upside more as a pitcher. He excelled as a hitter in the cape cod league a year or so before he was drafted though. Did not have a good final season at UCLA (as a hitter or a pitcher). Nice, thanks for the info.
  8. Wes was a first basemen at UCLA right? From what I've read he could handle the bat pretty good too. Any specific reasons for the switch to SP?
  9. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Apr 10, 2006 -> 09:13 PM) Do they really have better hitting though? Sure, they owned everyone in week 1, but I think Thome is REALLY going to help this team out on the offensive side. If Scotty Pods can just get one base once every blue moon (I'm still not concerned, only because he missed so much of Spring Training), then I think we will see Thome's and Paulie's numbers skyrocket. Thome and PK are great, but everyone knows Thome strikes out a lot and PK can go through some rough stretches, I mean rough. Pods hasn't been able to stay healthy and Uribe and Crede go through some bad slumps too. Shelton, Maggs and Irod can mash not to mention the decent bats of Inge, Monroe, and Guillen. They have a pretty solid core and with the way the white sox have been so far this year and last year struggling to score runs I would give the edge to them. Things can change though.
  10. Meh, I don't expect him to say that his team can't match up against ours, but I wouldn't go as far as saying their better if I were him. They have better hitting and we have better pitching. We'll take a look at this when it is all said and done.
  11. YESS!!! Heard on the radio we won today and got happy as hell. Thome is a MONSTER! I am glad Freddy got his s*** together. I read Crede made some great plays once again. He is going to have a huge year both offensively and defensively.
  12. Great job Buehrle and the rest of the sox!! Now it's time for Pods and our timely hitting offense to wake up and for Freddy to shake off that last start. Oh and time for our bullpen to hold it down for us from here on out... This first game vs detroit is a big one. Winning the first or two games against these guys can get us rolling.
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 11:09 AM) I am not worried because my father is a doctor, and he's going to make a fortune on patients coming in with sprained ankles jumping off of the Sox bandwagon. LOL!
  14. QUOTE(atrain081 @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 03:43 PM) Don't forget, Crede has em loaded in the eighth with one out. I'd say our biggest problem is timely hitting. How many opportunities did we have against Cleveland when we lost in extras? How many runners did we strand last night? This season? Pitching will be shaky at the beginning of the season. Let them get settled in. I think that we will eventually need help in the pen, but not as much as what everyone thinks. I want to see Konerko, Crede, Pods, and others to step up and get hits when they matter. Pods definitley needs to f***ing step it up. Crede and Uribe are doing more than should be expected out of them if you look at their history. I can't wait for Dye to get back because Mack looks TERRIBLE right now.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 03:42 PM) Here's the last time I'll write this: statistically, he was the luckiest pitcher in baseball last season. That wasn't hard to see either. His ass got saved many times last season...
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 03:36 PM) The problem is that Politte doesn't have enough stuff to K someone like Sweeney now. His velocity has dropped like 6 mph in the last two years. True. Politte just shouldn't be our go-to guy in the pen. I didn't have much faith in him in the 2nd half of last season and I certainly don't have any in him now.
  17. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 03:21 PM) How did the bullpen suck today? Sweeney lifted a bailout swing on a nice slider out of the park. They looked pretty good today IMO. While Sweeney did do a good job there he was behind on everyone of Pollite's fastballs. Why would he throw him something that he could catch up on easily?
  18. QUOTE(juddling @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 01:42 PM) Bat-wielding woman fights off intruder Web Posted: 04/07/2006 03:00 PM CDT By Brian Chasnoff Express-News Staff Writer When a noise awoke Courtney Mann on her living room couch around 2 a.m., the intruder already was inside her home, walking toward the back where her 1-year-old daughter lay sleeping. She instantly recognized his forest green shirt, illuminated by the light of the television set. He was the same man who , every day for the past week , had sauntered past her house near Olmos Park, at one point telling the 30-year-old single mother not to work too hard as she was raking leaves in a bikini, she said . Later that day, Mann saw him peeking into her kitchen window and examining her front door. Now the stranger was inside her home, turning on the air conditioner, ransacking a jewelry box in her bedroom and retrieving a knife from the kitchen, a police report said. Mann didn't know it yet, but according to police, the intruder was Juan Caballero, 37, an ex-convict who had been sentenced to prison in 1994 for sexual assault. Caballero was arrested later today and charged with burglary of a habitation. His bond was set at $20,000. Mann was too frightened to move. Glancing around the living room, she noticed a wooden baseball bat lying near the front door. The stranger re-entered the room and saw her lying on the couch. He reached out and touched her arm. “You want to have a drink?” the intruder proposed, according to Mann and the report. Mann screamed loud, then leaped from the couch and ran toward the front door. Approaching Mann, the burglar advised her not to call police. He then picked up a plastic bag and began wrapping it around his arm, the report said. Finally, Mann unleashed a fury. Still screaming, she punched the intruder in the face five times. He pushed her to the side and made for the front door. She then whacked him across the back of his head with the baseball bat. He flew face-first into a flowerpot and then fled down the street. Police later found Caballero hiding in a metal shed, bleeding from the head.
  19. QUOTE(WCSox @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 03:23 PM) But if our bullpen isn't going to improve, something needs to be done. KW might have to sacrifice some of our starting pitching depth for another arm in the 'pen. I hope that Garcia is healthy and improves over the next couple of months, because I think that he's the one to move (inconsistent, not young anymore, lots of IP under his belt). Maybe something along the lines of Garcia and Politte to Anaheim for Shields and Weaver? Then again, it's going to take another month or so before anybody can accurately evaluate this team. Well while some people are talking about trading for a backup outfielder maybe trading for a reliever would better suit this team. I don't mean a freaking Matt Thornton either. I understand that a good arm is a lot harder to get than a backup outfielder, but still. KW better be thinking about doing something quick because all his work of getting Thome and Vazquez will be spoiled if we don't get some freaking good arms in the bullpen.
  20. QUOTE(Wedge @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 03:17 PM) Cliffe Politte gave up a 2 run homer when we lead by 1. We lost a game to the Indians because we gave up a lead. Sounds like the bullpen has had a part in our s*** start. Im sorry I meant to say you can't blame everything on our bullpen. Basically our whole team is playing like s*** and when one part is doing good the other part is sucking it up. The team is not together at all. Hopefully they will all get it together in unison pretty damn soon.
  21. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 03:08 PM) Right now one thing really bothers me and it is just how bad 2 of our bullpen guys are... KW should have done better research on Hermy to find out whether he was going to be ready for the season. Now we are stuck with a suspect bullpen due to Logan and Thornton. I don't think we're going to be able to count on those guys if we want to win the division again. The pen, quite frankly is just sad. IMO neither Logan or Thornton should be on a MLB roster. And using Logan against Hafner the other day was a joke. Spending over $100 million on the team and to have these two guys out there in the pen to me is just bad management by KW. I think we're going to be fine, but KW needs to look at the pen and think to himself, I f***ed this up and I need to make it right. Neither Logan or Thornton are going to cut it. We need help down there. While I agree, Garland and Garcia haven't given this team a damn chance so far. I know they will improve and our bullpen probably won't, but you can't blame our s*** start so far on the bullpen.
  22. QUOTE(ShoeLessRob @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 03:10 PM) If the team didn't just shoot for the long ball we could have easily pilled up base hits. Javy pitched great, and yes it is THAT BAD. Well maybe if our bullpen didn't SUCK so bad we would win more games.
  23. I can see where the anger is coming from, but most of you guys need to calm down. If it weren't for the wind we would have a few more homers, like today, which probably would have us ahead if not tied. Dye isn't in the lineup and our pitching is going through a rough stretch. Yes we are almost getting swept by the Royals, but it's not that bad. The season just started.
  24. QUOTE(SoxPride56 @ Apr 8, 2006 -> 02:57 PM) this fat f*** sucks this umpire f***en blows ball f***en fat f*** Don't blame it entirely on the umpire. Our bullpen can't hold the team down to save their lives, but we need a new backup outfielder right?
