What was up with todays crowd?
Whitewashed in '05 replied to Whitewashed in '05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 09:43 PM) Thats what happens when the road team gets an early lead. It tends to take the crowd out of the game. Ugh, even though Count could have prevented them from scoring himself the offense failed on him. -

QUOTE(JoeBatterz @ Oct 11, 2005 -> 09:36 PM) My brother called me from the game before it started and said it was WAY louder than even for Boston and it was totally jacked up before the first pitch. I think being down 3-0 took them out of it. Hmm... maybe Fox has their volume on the crowd lower but it seemed more down. It doesn't matter to me if we were down, god I wish I could go. -
Was is just me or did that crowd seem a lot less into the game today than in the ALDS? I am sure it wasn't just me because I could really hear them before. I wish I was out there, I wouldn't sit down or shut up. Oh yeah and how could I forget, how about Buck and McCarver?? All I could hear was "slurp slurp slurp ERSTAD slurp slurp." Holy crap they were horrible.

QUOTE(DePloderer @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 02:41 PM) Hope you like it. Cool! Great job once again. Thanks!

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 04:02 PM) While all are opinions change in one loss, or one win, the truth of the matter is we a good, almost great core, that needs to be used in the next two or three years. Mark-26 Jon-26 Freddy-29 Brandon-23 Mark and Jon should just be getting into there prime, Freddy is in it, and Brandon isnt even close. Jose is obviously your wild card, and a good f***ing wild card at that. You have two studs in the pen in Jenks-24, and Cotts-25. Cliff, Dustin at least have two more good years in them. ------------------------------------ We have no starters in are infield that is older than 30, and thats are rookie. Our OF left to right is 29,28,31 ------------------------------------- Are CORE is right there in there primes or getting there. This isnt a team that needs to do something now because time is running out, and this isnt a team that is too young to do anything yet. We are there, and we are in the process of doing something great. Yes we do have a good core, but along with that we have to keep vital pieces to the team like PK.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 12:49 AM) My superstitions change every game. If I notice things were going better when my pepsi can was facing a certain direction, I make sure it's facing that direction the entire game. If things are going well and I've been in the same spot the entire game, I won't move even to use the facilities. LOL! Thats me too, the whole ALDS I was laying on my couch to the left and I didn't want to go to the washroom until the game was over because I didn't want to miss anything, well the next games I still wouldn't go because I didn't want to mess stuff up.

How does this affect PK contract?

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 11:15 PM) That would be a beautiful thing, but this is just one particular season, you know what I'm saying? Ain't we gonna need a s***load of cash to invest in pitching? I dunno, maybe I'm just being too conservative, but 12 freaking million per? If that is what this guy will demand, he can take a hike. I am not sure who is a FA from out pitching staff this year, I know all of our SP's are locked up for at least one more year. With that said, can't they just put El Duque in a box and put him away until playoff time next season? Crede and Garland are arb. eligible and I think AJP can be a free agent. Politte may be a FA too. -
Johnny Damon's classless postgame comments

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 11:13 PM) Offensively, maybe. He still has a noodle-arm. But I agree that he is as good as gone from the Red Sox. Watch the Yankees sign him. That won't surprise me, it seems like you always see a few players from the Yanks on the Red Sox and vice versa. They just like to pick up each others dump, not that Damon is Bostons dump but you know what I mean. -

Everyone here will fight until the last possible out. We have something very special going on here."----Aaron Rowand Hell Yes is all I have to say. -
How does this affect PK contract?

QUOTE(greg775 @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 10:43 PM) We can't afford to let another slugger go. Our payroll is in the 70s, We can afford him. We can't lose Maggs, Lee, Hurt and Konerko in the span of a couple seasons. GO SOX! No we can't afford to lose all of them but I just hope that they don't try to hit the jackpot with someone else to replace him. Kind of like Dye with Maggs and not that theres anything wrong with that move but we need to retain Kong. -
So far the sox have done a great job and they could go a lot further playing like they are now. But as of now, how do you think this affects PK and the rest of the FA market towards the sox?

Will we ever hear Hawk in the post?? -
I feel really bad for Marte, he is a good pitcher but he just hasn't got it done. I am really glad Duque pulled him out of that HUGE jam. But yes, he needs to go.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 06:47 PM) You could see Garcia was gassed in the 5th inning. He had no business being out there in the 6th at all. Especially after that 25 minute break. -
QUOTE(heavyduty @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 06:43 PM) Don't know if any of you guys saw this post over there, but I thought it was pretty cool. "On a side note -- I worked today's game. One of the classiest things I've ever seen -- the White Sox bullpen coach out in right field just after their batting practice was done. That guy handed out balls to the youngest of kids, signed autograph after autograph for anyone who asked, posed for pictures and even put little kids on his shoulder and backed up to the grass so their parents could snap a shot of them. I asked a White Sox fan who he was and they explained it was their bullpen catcher, Man Soo Lee and that he does that at every home game...signing autographs for everyone that asks. Classy guy and, when their team was introduced there was an ovation from the right field stands when Lee was announced. So, if it can't be for my beloved boys (oh, how I wanted to be in the park for more excitement), then I'm rooting for the White Sox. Go Sox! " Man Soo Lee is a great man, I love him!

and I won't be in any other game threads once again, they won with me gone!! Keep it going I don't want to see another game thread the rest of the way!!! -
Uribe definitley showing his talent and how good he can be. He did a GREAT job and hopefully he keeps it going.
-
Our pitching definitley put it on them, I mean to dominate Manny and Ortiz that good was bad ass. Sure they hit some homers and hurt us but they didn't do anything to beat us. Good pitching beats good hitting and I hope they keep on pitching their asses off and that hitting just keeps bringing those runs in when we need them.
-
EL DUQUE!!! Unf***ingbelievable performance by Duque, unbelievable. Big game pitcher? HELL YES!
-
There is no ALDS MVP, AJP was great, Uribe was great, PK! he saved us a lot, Jenks! Rowand for making some nice plays, GOOCH!! This was a team effort, hopefully they keep it going.
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 06:34 PM) I have bashed El Duque all season, but he ate his wheaties and pitched his ass of tonight. That performance alone was worth the contract the Sox gave him. Most of us are eating crow right now and I can't tell you one person who doesn't like it!!!

QUOTE(knightni @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 10:23 AM) Also, the "free" Microsoft Spy Ware program that many of us use is expiring in December. Moneygrubbing bastages. I don't like that one, whenever I do clean spyware up I do a combo of Ad-aware, Spybot, and Spywareblaster. They are easy and don't require you to have it running as a service.
