  1. ahhh!! Damnit I am jealous of all you with cool stories. Besides meeting players while getting something autographed I have no special stories.
  2. Computer Networking Technician Pros Explore new technology Good money Jobs are easy to find (sorta) Cons Problem solving sometimes sucks May have to play some political games You have to take a lot of math
  3. QUOTE(BigEdWalsh @ Nov 9, 2005 -> 09:11 AM) In all honesty, if I were to choose 3 names from that list, Rooney wouldn't be one of them. There's some legends, Coleman, Rizzuto, Reese, Harmon, Dean. Dizzy Dean was a riot if you were fortunate to ever hear him broadcast a game. But, there are some real bad announcers on that list too. Chip Caray definately being one of them. All I know is that Joe f***in Buck shouldn't be on there. Unless this was a competition of the most b****ing in a series then he would win.
  4. Konerko is a solid defender, he's as good as anybody picking it. (Damn I think I sound like Hawk now.) For some reason I think Konerko will hit .300 next season who ever he plays for.
  5. Shapiro signed Millwood. - Great acquisition. Signed Alex Cora. - Ended up trading him to Boston for a prospect I think. Signed Juan Gonzalez. - That worked out GREAT! Traded Gerut for Dubois. - No gain Signed Arthur Rhodes - Good acquisition Am I missing anything else? Oh wait! They signed Jeff Leifer!! Besides these they extended contracts to their own players. How the hell did he earn that more than KW? Now in 04 they signed Wickman, Boone, Betancourt and Peralta but they didn't go anywhere.
  6. Congrats Ozzie you earned it. On the other hand f*** this award im still pissed KW didn't get exec of the year. Sorry about my attitude guys they just pissed me off with Hunter and Shapiro.
  7. QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 09:47 PM) "But the sox team isn't exactly filled with overachievers, who had career yrs. They have plenty of room for improvement, esp offensively." huh? Career Year: Contreras, Buehrle, Garland, Konerko, Politte, AJ... I mean, not everyone had a career year, though they certainly had their share of overachievers, but as you note, the offense can still get much better. I wouldn't call AJ having a career year. He degressed in nearly every offensive catagory except hr's.
  8. KW is the man, never b****es about anything. He knows we all appreciate his efforts. f*** the rest.
  9. I don't know why but this gave me a good laugh.
  10. It sucks we've got nothing this season in terms of individual awards but its ok. A lot of the discussions are ending because mostly everyone thinks "f*** it we won it all forget the awards." We better get some next season though although I would sacrifice all individual awards for and WS title.
  11. QUOTE(GASHWOUND @ Nov 8, 2005 -> 02:19 PM) Why did Cliff lee get more votes then Mark? I know he had to more wins, but Mark had a better ERA...312 to 3.79 More innings pitched 236 to 202 and was on a division winner..What's the thought process behind that. Even Garland should have been voter higher..had the same amount of wins..better ERA and more innings pitched.. Man, people have a real hard on for the Indians.. No f***ing s*** man, holy crap the Indians are getting the most props out of any team in the MLB for making a late push and choking. I mean damn Housten deserves more credit than them in my opinion. Being like 15 games under .500 and then making the world series is better than a late push and choking. Anyway this is about the Cy Young award and I just think it's stupid for Lee to rank above our guys. Oh well, f*** these people. Thats the end of my rant.
  12. If Konerko leaves we need a bat to replace his power production. If Konerko signs elsewhere I will be screaming to get Giles and move Dye to first. We just cannot afford to stick Anderson in RF to an already questionable offense. EDIT: or get Overbay or Tracy.
  13. First of all I have a pit bull. I have owned it since it was a pup and she is trained. Even before she was trained she was obedient. She has all her shots and is a good dog with my family. Actually the only reason I have it is because I live in a bad neighborhood. I didn't even buy it, it was a gift after my other dog died. I wouldn't even had thought about getting one if it wasn't a gift. Now I am not saying that my dog couldn't turn on me but I do as much as I can to prevent that from happening. It's also grown up next to other dogs, it's been with another dog it's entire life. Pit Bulls do have a track record of turning on thier owner but look at the owners first. Were the dogs mistreated? Were they fed? How are they kept around, leash or no leash? What kind of fence or barrier? I personally have a six foot fence. If a dog is beaten or not fed how do you suppose it's going to respond? I mean some people feed their dogs gun powder!
  14. QUOTE(joeynach @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 08:20 PM) A lot of cubs fans have been really bitter, after all they are seeing the tide turn against them right before their eyes. I mean now the sox are the popular name, now their stadium and its fandeck and fundamentals are the cool unique features (not scoreboard and ivy), now we have the big name manager, now we have the spotlight. And we deserve it, we are the best team in all of MLB, we proved it. Well...I don't know there is that AL West team with the long name...wait we killed them too. :finger
  15. I really don't care what any cub fans have to say about us. There is one thing I have to say about some sox fans though, they care too much about what the cub fans think. SOME do not all. When we were in the postseason I was not thinking "ohh what do cub fans think about this???" I don't give a s*** what they think but there are some sox fans who go too far about the whole cubs suck deal. I don't know maybe it's just me but I only talk about the cubs if I have a cub fan talking s*** about the sox.
  16. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 02:51 PM) I think those unusually-weighted vote numbers are telling. Of those who thought he should even be considered, they voted mostly for first place. If not, no vote at all. It's kind of a tough call: he's a rookie by status, but he is a veteran professional baseball player. I'm honestly not sure how I'd vote. I don't mind Iguchi not getting the ROY as long as anyone else who comes in from Japan doesn't get it. If they want to make an unwritten rule about rookies then as long as they follow it I am ok with it.
  17. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 03:09 AM) Someone needs to bring back the Hunter/Burke picture from last season. I never saw the f***ing play. Either way I still hate Hunter even after we've won it all.
  18. QUOTE(YASNY @ Nov 5, 2005 -> 07:13 AM) Wow. I think you are making a hell of an assumption here. I believe Gload was a "piece that didn't fit into the puzzle" as far as the Sox ML roster goes. Offensively, they could have used him. But defensively, he didn't fit. We didn't need a full time backup for Paulie and Gload is not what you'd consider for a late-inning defensive replacement in the outfield. Put yourself in Gload's place. He put very respectable numbers in 2004 with the Sox. He then believes he'll be with the team in '05, in part because Ozzie said that he was a part of the team. He gets injured, heals, then goes down to AAA and tears it up down there. Yet, things were going so well in Chicago that they never made the move to call him up. Wouldn't you get frustrated enough to say something if some "journalist" caught you in a bad moment and yanked your chain? Whether or not Gload ever plays for the Sox again is unknown at this point, but to say the organization hates the man is beyond ludicrous in my opinion. I agree with you with Gload's situation as a whole and especially the part in bold. When Gload broke camp with the team in 04 Ozzie loved him. That injury derailed him and with our defensive situation Gload wasn't able to fill that spot. Ozzie isn't scared of putting Gload in the OF, he reinjured his shoulder which prevented him from playing in the outfield. A good reason why he wasn't called up earlier.
  19. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 4, 2005 -> 08:28 PM) Kenny will go 5 max, I think there's a possibility he'll give out a 5 year deal to Paul but in no way will he go higher, nor should he. The Angels interest in Manny could slow them down in signing PK. Hopefully that's the case. 5 years with options isn't bad depending on the money, I think PK would accept that from us.
  20. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 5, 2005 -> 12:11 PM) I don't think Mark Teixiera is even a good fit for the Sox. Talent and overall play wise he's a great player and any team would love to have someone as versatile (1B, 3B, SH) as him on their team. However the legistics of the whole situation just suck. Teixiera is going into his first year of arbitration but Scott Boras is trying to avoid arbitration with the Rangers however the stipulations are kind of ridiculous, Boras is looking for a 10 year deal in the neighborhood of $180M - $200M. Not to mention the fact that JR an KW have taken a major stance against Scott Boras by refusing to draft any of his players and avoiding dealling with him when attempting to give Juan Uribe a new contract. Just for fun we'll look at Mark's Home/Away splits from last season: Home - 30HR, 88RBI, .334/.411/.698/1.109 K/BB: 48/37 Away - 13HR, 56RBI, .270/.349/.459/.809 K/BB: 76/35 I'm just not sure bringing in Scott Boras' new favorite client would be all the good of an idea. The home and away stats are a pretty big difference with Tex and Blalock. I didn't know that ballpark infalted their numbers so much.
  21. I really don't care what anyone says, we all know that our team is gonna be just as good if not better. Now when they say the Indians might take the central, then I can see. Divisions with good teams are always a gamble, you can't ever say one team is gonna win it right off the top in a GOOD division. The only thing I have to say is there will be 2 teams in the playoffs from the ALC. The sox should take the division or the WC. It will either be Boston or NYY in the playoffs and not both. Everyone can predict no playoffs for us I don't give a s***. The sox will just play with another chip on their shoulder. It's even better when everyone doubts you and you still do it, again!
  22. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 02:22 PM) Talks are Thome to Minnesota believe it or not if Philly eats the majority of the 46 mil for 3 years. Aso hears Torri HUnter to NYY for Robinson Cano out there. If Konerko doesnt sign, Id expect to see Dye at 1B and Anderson in RF If these moves were to happen I would kill Thome just so he wouldn't kill the sox...ok not really but damn that would suck. According to Torri Hunter, "If you can't beat them, join them."
  23. The Phillies would probably ask for Jenks in any trade to replace Wagner. I highly doubt we get Thome or Howard.
  24. I still love MO, I fell in love with his cannon. I would still like to have his gun behind home plate but with our pitchers it doesn't matter if IRod was back there no one would get thrown out. Even though I miss him I love whose back there now.
  25. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Nov 1, 2005 -> 11:34 PM) No question about it, there will be a spotlight on Uribe next year. Don't forget about Crede either, he opened some eyes throughout the whole playoffs. The sox will get more attention next season. Maybe not as a whole but certain players like Crede and Uribe will have a lot of people looking at them. I am disappointed no one from our team got a GG but I am so damn proud of their efforts. Everyone did a great job in the playoffs, actually better than great. f*** GG's we got a damn WS title on the south side because of these guys. Thats how I look at it at least. On a side note, we all know Crede and Uribe can do it defensively now lets see what they can do for a whole season with their new hitting approaches.
