  1. QUOTE(beck72 @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 04:30 PM) The only reason Philly would pay 1/2 his salary is because the prospects are good ones. Gio was 2 years away. Haigwood maybe 1. The sox have a window to win the next few years [and even beyond with all the young talent coming on from high a and AA]. Getting Thome, with all the other pitchers locked up, helps the sox offense a lot. The added salary will help pay for PK and another addition somewhere this offseason Gio is my fav prospect, but he has had some injury probs. If healthy he can be a good starter. These two prospects don't hurt me as much as Rowand, they are just prospects. Well at least it wasn't Bmac...
  2. QUOTE(whitesoxfan13 @ Nov 23, 2005 -> 04:29 PM) Excellent trade, in my opinion. If we can resign PK our lineup is scary. I do not want to see Thomas in another uni.
  3. I am not sold on it yet. At least not until I see Thome is healthy.
  4. I feel REALLY bad right now. I am so down... The last time I felt like this was when we traded Olivo. I hope this deal turns out like the Olivo one, it hurts me, but if it ends up working then I like it. Thank You Aaron Rowand for your efforts, they will never be forgotten. I will miss you!
  5. Guys I just got home from work and I heard on the radio a few blocks from my house that we got Thome. Instantly I thought HELL YEAH! Then I said wait a minute...for who??...Next thing they said was Rowand + prospects. f***!!!!! I just said it the other day I did not want him f***ing gone UGH! ...I don't know, Thome better not get hurt next year because if we traded Roward plus Gio and Haig for a player thats gonna be on the shelf all f***ing year long I am gonna be pissed. I don't like this deal yet...I just don't.
  6. QUOTE(Wanne @ Nov 22, 2005 -> 06:24 PM) Agreed with the "he's expendable" part. As much as I like ARow and feel he adds a dimension to the team that doesn't always show in the box score...his production at the plate left alot to be desired. If he could be replaced with Pierre and move Gooch down to 6th...I'm ok with that. I like Pierre but the thought of moving him in CF to replace Rowand scares me. I want Aaron to stay no matter what. I love his attitude and I think having a player like him on the team is just as good as his production.
  7. I am not sure the rumors are he wants to be traded but more that he wants the clubhouse environment to improve. He said he wants to fulfill his contract but just wants the team to improve. Even if he was being shopped Sea would ask an arm and a leg for him. I would imagine a SP with an OF like Anderson. I don't want to touch our SP and Anderson is our future. I am not saying I wouldn't want him, but think of the costs.
  8. What about THE WIDGE!!!?? Don't forget about The Widge!!
  9. I haven't seen this posted anywhere, but it looks like Blum is gone. I didn't think we would keep him with Ozuna and Harris but I wasn't sure. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article...e2005&fext=.jsp Move this thread if you have to mods, I just made it here because it involved the sox. EDIT: Whoops, forgot about the trade winds...
  10. The AL West thing is pretty stupid, I noticed it yesterday. I'll tell you something else though, I about spit when I heard the commentator call for David Ortiz's walkoff. "BIG PAPI!! HITS IT TO DEEP RIGHT FIELD! BIG PAPI!!."
  11. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Nov 15, 2005 -> 10:19 PM) Well this guarantees a bigger deal for Kong. I hate the f***ing yankees. ugh.
  12. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Nov 14, 2005 -> 07:51 PM) I also didn't think much of the Jason Dubois for Gerut for Lawton for Berg set of moves. In the end, it seemed pretty pointless to me. I don't understand his logic for those moves either.
  13. "But I don't wanna be a pirate!!"
  14. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 14, 2005 -> 03:58 PM) Oh man, dont tease me. If they were to do a trade for Abreu. You could debate whether to DH him or put him the field. If they kept everyone the same, resigned Kong but got rid of A-row and subed Anderson. Pods Gooch Abreu kong Dye AJP Crede Anderson Uribe Thats a better lineup than this year's folks. Keep in mind I don't think we have any shot at Abreu but if we were to get him and resign Kong that would challenge the Ortiz and Manny duo.
  15. QUOTE(jackie hayes @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 04:39 PM) Yeah, forgot about him. Can't knock the Hustler. Haha, I am actually thinking of changing my name. It's stupid but funny because theres relation between the grind of a hustler and the white sox grinders.
  16. Is Ramon Hernandez rumored to re-sign? Didn't they say they were going to make Olivo their main C? Also Nomar going to LAD, isn't Valentin coming back? I bet the next thing he says if PK doesn't re-sign "Manny going to the Whte Sox." I can hear him now. Edit: Nevermind about Hernandez, got confused somewhere...
  17. I know they aren't raising prices by a lot but they have been raising it higher the past 2 years. At least from what I remember. How much more are they gonna raise it? I go to as many games as I can but with parking you're guarenteed to spend about $50 bucks each time you go to a game.
  18. It sucks to pass by on a player as good as him but sometimes its better not to have a guy like him...That sounds a little weird. Anyway, oh well.
  19. I don't know how much they will be able to get for him unless they eat some of his contract. With his request some teams might just wait for him to become an FA. If the Orioles do get him watch out. Vazquez + Mazzone =
  20. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 11:39 AM) Yeah, and look how that trade turned out for us. Giving away a decent player who is a fan favorite really sucks, but it could turn out to be a better value for us. Who knows, but if A-row would net us someone like Delgado, I would take it. Well if it improves the team then yes you have to do it. I was just saying, I would hate for him to leave but if the right offer came up then yes.
  21. I really like Rowand even though he might not be my favorite player, but to see him go would hurt. Kinda like Olivo departure was. Sure Anderson has higher upside (so I've heard) but Rowand leaving would suck. Plus it would split the three stooges up!!
  22. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Nov 11, 2005 -> 11:05 AM) The White Sox have always been up there in merch sales from what I understand. I guess our gear just looks cool. I go to school right now and all I see is sox gear. Hell I go anywhere right now and all I see is sox gear. Thats pretty cool but sometimes it kind of ticks me off because then I think "where the hell were you asses when the sox were slumping?"
  23. For some reason I have the feeling we will resign PK. You hear Ozzie and Kenny say they feel really good about getting him back here. Not that you should believe that means he will be back but KW usually lets us know how things are going. He might let us know in subtle ways but he does. The only the thing that prevents KW from saying he will be back is how high is his price tag going to get? If it reasonable u can bet the sox will resign him but if it starts getting crazy? Like 15 million a year? I don't know and you can't blame us for not resigning him if thats we he goes for.
