swisher to lead off to start the season and play center
Whitewashed in '05 replied to chisox2334's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Mar 26, 2008 -> 07:29 PM) I don't care if Swisher is decent or even above average in CF. Any time Anderson has been in CF, he has been stellar. If he is going to be in the lineup, at least put him in the position that he is most effective in, CF. If it really is Anderson in LF, Swisher in CF, it's Ozzie not using his resources correctly, plain and simple. This is all a moot point of Quentin is the LF opening day. Yeah definitely. I feel the same. This means that once Prancer2.0 comes back he will be awarded the starting CF job and leadoff role. -
LOL! Both of those are incidents are gold.

QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 25, 2008 -> 06:13 PM) Is there a way that we can come up with a nickname for Owens that takes into account Podsednik? Prancer V2.0

Never tell a girl how much you like her unless you're already in a relationship. The same thing happens all the time, they freak out. Especially if you drop the love bomb. Then they'll just stop talking to you. Next time you feel this way about a girl and you are in a similar position, (you're not in a relationship) then the best way to approach it is to flirt and/or hang out together. If she still doesn't take hints, flirting with other girls in front of her can make her jealous and try to win you. My advice would be to hang out with her in those group outings and if you feel good about it ask her out alone. Just feel her out from now on. You always have to remember, there are tons of girls out there don't be bummed about one.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 18, 2008 -> 10:38 AM) I don't want Danny rotting in AAA, but I want Danny struggling with injuries in the big leagues even less. He's missed something like half of training camp. There's little reason to push him for now. Hopefully if Uribe does pull his usual horrendous performance out of the bag, his days starting are numbered very quickly. Definitely agree with you. Uribe should be pulled unless he reverses his downward trend.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 18, 2008 -> 10:08 AM) If may rolls around and Uribe is hitting his classic .200, and either Alexei or Danny are putting up solid numbers in AAA, I don't think that the team can avoid making the change. Normally, yes, but you know Ozzie won't make the change because of "a bad start" as he would put it. I like a Alexei a lot, but some time in AAA won't hurt him. Especially since we did trade away a top prospect for Richar to rot in AAA. Give him his chance.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Mar 18, 2008 -> 05:36 AM) Yeah, i dont know what I was thinking when I typed that, he was a centerfielder, not an infielder Johan played infield in Venezuela. He tried to imitate his father who was right handed and later found out he was left handed. Link

QUOTE(Markbilliards @ Mar 15, 2008 -> 11:52 PM) So I've have a gap between my two front teeth (that's called a diastema), although it isn't Michael Strahan sized, it is larger than just a small sliver between my front teeth and is noticable. Its always bothered me for years and I really regret not getting braces when I was a kid. I'm 22 now and feel like I'm way too old to be getting braces. I guess what I'm asking is, what do you guys think when you see adults with braces? My initial reaction is usually along the lines of "ugh!" but perhaps that's just me being stupid. I've thought about doing something about the diastema but if I had to have braces for two years that would be awful. I'm already a young looking guy, so I don't need to look younger. Anyone have thoughts on adult ortho? Additionally, I have looked into lumineers, but they don't work for me considering the size of my gap. Speaking from personal experience, I got braces when I was like 15 and got them off about 3 years later. A few years later my teeth moved a bit and at 20 got them back on. I've had them on for about 7 months now and they're almost coming off within the next month. I'll tell you this much, you're not in grade school so it isn't like kids are going to be making fun of you. Get you're teeth fixed and you will be much happier and comfortable smiling. My teeth look really good and I'm very happy I got them fixed.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 15, 2008 -> 03:49 PM) Hall made his first start yesterday against the A's. They've been taking him as slowly as they can to allow him a chance to rebuild the strength in his shoulder. After all he went through the season, wouldn't it have been better just to get the shoulder surgery done and over with?

Buehrle still is Opening Day Starter
Whitewashed in '05 replied to ObamaKnowsBest's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 15, 2008 -> 12:58 PM) Lotta people with some potential. Egbert, Broadway, Sisco, Haeger, possibly Masset although he'll probably be in the pen to start the year. No one who you're going to look at and think "This guys is going to win 20 for me this year" but that's several guys with some potential as MLB Players. Egbert has a good sinker, Broadway's developing in to what could be a decent pitcher, Sisco wasn't bad last year at AAA once they made him in to a starter and he still has that fastball, Haeger still has the knuckler, etc. I hope they turn out better than our 5th starter lottery a couple years back... Just thinking about Munoz, Diaz, and Wright gives me the chills. Slightly off topic, does anyone know what happened to Danny Wright after his surgery? -
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 15, 2008 -> 07:07 AM) I hope Rotoworld's not right here; Quentin's injury has really screwed him of a chance to break camp with the big league club.

What about these people's friends and family?? Do they visit them in the toilet or just completely forget about them? I mean... I don't know...
-
Buehrle should have the ball first. He did sign a contract below market value to stay with the team. If it was up to Ozzie, Buehrle wouldn't have started opening day in 04. This is BS.

Umm... what? Link

QUOTE(DrunkBomber @ Mar 3, 2008 -> 07:49 PM) I just got Juno, Into the Wild, I am Legend, No country for old men, There will be blood, Bucket List and Dan in real life on DVD and Im having a hard time watching them because after about the first 15 minutes of any of them I wonder if Ill like another one better... You must have quite a unique taste. I saw most of those and like them. You have to give There Will Be Blood more than 15 minutes though that's for sure.

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Mar 10, 2008 -> 12:02 PM) clearly you've never seen "envy" or "bong water" and School of Rock...

Rangers McCarthy headed to the DL

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 10, 2008 -> 06:32 PM) Damn. Get well soon Brandon!!! ^^^^ -
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Mar 6, 2008 -> 02:27 AM) I don't know if this is supposed to be sarcastic, but Buehrle doesn't strike people out. It's the same reason Chien-Ming Wang is so low on the list too (though he will almost assuredly provide wins) No I was serious. That's why I said it was my mistake. I just thought career instead of 07.
-
QUOTE(knightni @ Mar 5, 2008 -> 11:17 PM) He doesn't strike guys out, in '07 he had very few wins and just an above-average ERA. You know what, you're right. For some reason I was thinking of him over his career compared to others in the same time frame, more like never missing a start and stuff, nevermind.

Preseason fantasy baseball rankings for yahoo are out. Some notable ones... Jenks got ranked 12th for RP. Fields ranked 18th at the hot corner. Vazquez 21 on the SP list. Buehrle ranked 62nd! Kinda surprising considering his consistency and some of names above him. and ofcourse for those of you following the oakland sox minors, Gio is listed at the bottom with some other prospects. I was thinking about making a list of all the players from the AL central teams to get some sort of meaningless stuff to look at, but no time right now. Link

QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Mar 5, 2008 -> 10:08 PM) Cowley being Cowley again. Trying to stir something up when nothing is there. Must be a slow news day. IIRC Cowley was the same guy who was trying to stir crap up about Caballo after he left. I love Garland, but he also needs to shut his mouth about him not agreeing with everything AJ does like the rest of the league.
-
The thing that sucks was he was doing great before he got hurt. We didn't even get a chance to see if he was AAAA. It happens to all teams.
-
They've got a lot of our top prospects and I will keep an eye on them. Many people here don't like Gio much, but he's been probably my favorite prospect since he was drafted (sox prospect). I have a feeling he's gonna be a good pitcher. No major injuries so far because of his frame, a good fastball with movement, nice hammer, and is developing a good change and throws with the left hand. I still think Sweeney's going to turn out to be a solid OFer.

QUOTE(sircaffey @ Feb 26, 2008 -> 10:57 PM) We're comparing player performance not player value. Salaries don't skew the statistics. Okay I'll still take Danks over Willis at this point. Is that better?
