  1. I gotta give the guy his props. He has done good this season and I didn't think he'd ever be under the 4's in ERA. ...That's it. We'll see how he fares next season after we're our supposed big offseason to make us contenders again.
  2. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ Sep 22, 2007 -> 04:05 PM) Jerry is not about to fool my ass into thinking he's a legitimate everyday player. They're better be another plan in place. Off topic, but still... That is one of the worse sigs I have ever seen around here. Ugh... don't take it personal.
  3. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 17, 2007 -> 10:40 PM) I still love the "one player failed, therefore all players can be compared to him and are guaranteed to fail" logic. Here, let me turn that around...I certainly hope this young Pujols we have proves you guys wrong! Just about as fair. Lol take it easy man. I wasn't insinuating anything or comparing anyone, just a joke.
  4. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 17, 2007 -> 10:08 PM) Well, hopefully Pablo will be around...but I think D'Angelo Jimenez is going to make you guys regret doubting him.
  5. You don't hurt kids or infants unless there is something really f***ing wrong with you.
  6. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Sep 17, 2007 -> 08:35 PM) http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3024886 3 HR night gives him 512. :headbang I can't wait for the big man to get into the Hall of Fame wearing that White Sox cap!
  7. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 17, 2007 -> 10:03 PM) The problem with Richar's success is it can't be relied upon. He's had some decent games recently after being horrible for a while. He's playing in meaningless games. There's no way around it. Even KW didn't want to have to evaluate him in September. Its an industry wide cardinal rule, don't give guys jobs based on September numbers. Its not to say that he won't be good some day, maybe even next year, but don't get too excited if he starts lighting it up right now. If he's turning a corner, it may be the same one KW saw Aardsma and Masset turn last season. We need to platoon him with someone next year.
  8. They should give the young guys and subs some playing time... or... nevermind. Man..when Fields puts the bat on the ball he is dangerous.
  9. WOW, just got home from the Bears game! Congrats to Thome on #500. One of the best homers I've ever seen! HELL YES! :headbang THOME!!!! Wish I would've seen it live!
  10. QUOTE(sti3 @ Sep 14, 2007 -> 09:07 PM) Re: Molemen: Those guys fell the f__k off and were never that great, only solid and prolific. The beats on Vakill's last album were lifeless. Re: Finding Forever: Every song is pretty memorable, has a really organic feel. I think it will stand up well. It's aimed at the mainstream (which is fine) so it's kind of absurd to compare it to a backpacker classic like Resurrection. Re: Graduation: Just listened to it on headphones for the first time on a LONG CTA trip home. The beats and production are glossy and amazing. HJ, on "Big Brother" he says "No ID my mentor" on every chorus. As for lyrics, I think what people (including myself) like about Ye is that it's just raw uncensored personality put into verse. Yeah right now it's as much about the life of a celebrity as anything else but that's what he is now--a Chicago kid turned into a huge celeb--so it's "real" in a weird way. I'd rather hear ANYONE putting their raw unfiltered expression on a rap than some contrived bulls***. I wasn't comparing them. I said Be was very good, but not as good as Resurrection which is my favorite Common album. I just don't feel Finding Forever. Don't get me wrong, i'll listen to a lot of the songs, but its just not what I expected. Props to Common though on being a top seller.
  11. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Sep 14, 2007 -> 01:08 PM) That being said, neither album can touch Finding Forever. Nooo, I hold Common way up, but Finding Forever was a huge disappointment. BE was great. Not as good as Resurrection, but up there. As soon as I got Graduation, Finding Forever became the second cd I played in my car. That's hard too since I truly hate Kanye's personality and s*** on him for his arrogance everytime I get the chance. He claims everything he makes is classic...very funny, but I have to admit he makes good music.
  12. QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Sep 13, 2007 -> 11:30 PM) -HowardStern.com Of course it was. Each one would have sold more had they debuted on different days though. Oh and anyone who thought 50 would've retired is just foolish.
  13. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 12, 2007 -> 08:57 AM) FWIW, 50's album is much better than Kanye's LOL!! Is that supposed to be in green?
  14. QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 8, 2007 -> 01:18 PM) Did you say something. I've been watching your avatar . . . I think that happens more than I think...like now probably.
  15. QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 8, 2007 -> 11:52 AM) Are you sayin' the milkman couldn't deliver . . . LOL, nice one.
  16. There ain't nothing wrong with her if you ask me...
  17. I hope you guys washed your boxers after the performance.
  18. I don't like losses. It makes me sick when they lose, but seeing as how that's the only thing they know how to do I stopped getting mad a long time ago. Now when they lose, oh well, we move up in the draft. When they win, ok good.
  19. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 4, 2007 -> 02:11 PM) They were referring to Mike Sweeney, notorious Twins killer, not Baker. That's what I meant.
  20. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Sep 1, 2007 -> 01:27 AM) I was at that game in Minnesota tonight, being that I went with my friend who's a Twins fan, I was basically neutral for the game. I wish I would've seen a perfect game/no hitter, but I wasn't terribly sad after seeing all the look of anger and dispair from all the Twins fans. I don't know if I was the only one to catch it, but after the no no was broken up one of the commentators said "I never liked him anyway".
  21. QUOTE(CardsJimEdmonds15 @ Sep 1, 2007 -> 12:06 PM) Encarnacion Out For Season; Eye Seriously Injured By Derrick Goold 09/01/2007 11:54 am Cardinals outfielder Juan Encarnacion will miss the remainder of the season with multiple fractures of his left eye socket and a serious injury to his left eye, the team announced Saturday morning. Encarnacion’s long-term prognosis is undetermined as remains in a local hospital receiving care, but the injuries could be classified as career-threatening. Encarnacion was struck in the eye by a foul ball during the sixth inning of Friday’s victory against the Cincinnati Reds. He was standing in the on-deck circle preparing to pinch hit when a line drive hit him flush in the face. Encarnacion collapsed instantly and stayed on the ground for several minutes, unmoving. Team trainers, manager Tony La Russa and center fielder Jim Edmonds rushed to his side. The Cardinals right fielder left the field with help from teammates and was taken immediately to a local hospital for exams. The club’s medical officials announced Saturday morning that Encarnacion’s eye socket was fractured several times and that the eye itself sustained “a serious” injury. A team official said he will meet with a specialist and continue undergoing treatment, though he will not play again this season. The offical release from the club sets future as “undetermined”. -30- Encarnacion Out For Season; Eye Seriously Injured Brutal get well Juan! Oh man thats bad... not good. Good luck to Juan. :pray
  22. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 31, 2007 -> 05:30 PM) Dodgers probably figure based on the starting pitching market a healthy Elo could be dealt in the off-season or they could always afford him in the rotation (when he's healthy he's more than serviceable, especially in the NL). He also is coming off of two very good starts and bottom line the Dodgers are desperate. This also tells me that the Sox could probably get someone do to a similar deal for Contreras (ie someone to pick him up) but Ken Williams is going to try and get something for him (as opposed to just completely letting him go for nothing..even though I still say addition by subtraction because having that payroll off the books is very valuable). Contreras might not return to the form he was when he signed the deal, but he could still turn it around and be a good starter for someone. The last thing KW wants to do is see that happen while getting nothing in return.
  23. QUOTE(greg775 @ Aug 28, 2007 -> 11:31 PM) Is there one Sox fan out there who thinks MacDougal should be on this team next year? I'd do a poll, but I don't know how. Get rid of that bum. Geez. With his history and bullpens being so inconsistent from year to year I think they should hold onto him... hell whose going to replace him? Wheres Politte these days?!?
  24. QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Aug 27, 2007 -> 09:03 PM) He has no velocity at all right now. If you are the Yankees you can't afford to keep throwing him out there when you are in the playoff hunt. Melky also prevented more than 1 run from being scored on that drive to dead center with the bases juiced.
  25. QUOTE(GOD @ Aug 27, 2007 -> 10:17 PM) I'm only 17 and I don't remember much before the 2000 season so I only have about 8 years to go off of and i would say it is a toss up between this year and 03. This year at least I was able to give up in June and know we had no chance. 2003 was AWFUL! If you look back on that team they were LOADED with talent and lost to what i consider a crappy Twins team (talent wise). That team teased all season long and then fell flat on their faces, and on top of that the Cubs won their division. I believe the only reason that team missed the playoffs was because of poor fundementals and a lack of will to win, and that falls squarely on the manager. FU Manuel Yeah... no one needs a 5th starter to make the playoffs...
