  1. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 06:11 PM) Just heard it on the last update, didn't say who would be called up. Hopefully not Owens. Damn you Anderson for being injured!!! Ozzie will probably want another OF to replace Pods.
  2. QUOTE(3E8 @ Jul 1, 2007 -> 07:33 PM) Another request...please add Trade Winds to the drop-down box in the bottom right corner of the screen. Make TW its own forum if necessary. ^^^
  3. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jul 1, 2007 -> 04:28 PM) IMO, Garland and Jenks should be on the All star team I do think Garland should've received consideration, but you cannot ignore Buehrle. Ozzie told Leyland, Buehrle, Jenks, and JAVY.
  4. If the NTC clause was indeed the deal breaker then Buehrle has the right to say no. How would it look if a player gives his team a hometown then trades him? That would not look good on the team at all. Infact, if that were to happen, no player would be willing to give the sox a hometown discount. The discount is for the sox not anyone KW wants to trade him to. If we end up not resigning Buehrle, I better not hear about Boras players in the draft next year. Now if this whole thing is BS, then KW better be ready to ship him and Count out of town.
  5. QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 02:56 PM) Make that two. Jose has been an absolute stud for us. Again, another player that we dont have a ring without him on the team. The trade for Loiaza is still the best move KW has ever made, espeically with the timing. Everyone appreciates Contreras, but the problem is he is signed for 2 more years at 10 million per year, (I think), and he is older than listed. Not only that, but he used to consistently hit 94, 95 reaching 96,97 sometimes and now he has lost about 5 or 6 mph the last year or so. He can still be a good pitcher, but he is a risk for us both health wise and effectiveness. He will be better in the NL which could prolong his career.
  6. KW needs to extend him now. No messing around. It isn't like he'll be distracting anyone. Say we trade him, but KW still wants to re-sign him in the offseason, wouldn't the team we trade him to still get to negotiate with him until the WS is over?
  7. You guys need to check out the Jr video on mlb.com on his return to Seattle. Definitely cool to see. Shows you how much he is appreciated and how damn good he was in his prime. I am patiently waiting for Frank's day...
  8. Didn't see this article posted, but some good stuff in it. "It doesn't mean my philosophy is any greater than his. It just means at this point and time, we're going to try it my way." KW "We've had our differences in the past and this is the way it is," Shaffer told MLB.com. "He has control and I don't. I probably would have done the same thing if it had been the other way around." Shaffer "That's what they wanted and they are the ones running the show. That's the way things work. When you don't see eye to eye on how things go, someone has to go." Shaffer - But the 2007 selections featured far more of Williams' input and direction than in the past, with a move toward players with a greater level of raw talent to be developed by the organization and not necessarily the more polished collegiate player. Link The last part from the article is what everyone has been screaming for. We'll see how they do. KW has a good eye with talent for the most part, but like everyone says if he is going to get involved he needs to do more than just give an order.
  9. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jun 22, 2007 -> 02:28 PM) Then don't trade him. The Sox are almost guaranteed to get 2 draft picks for Buehrle, and those two picks can go towards replenishing the system. You get atleast 1 top prospect along with two other solid players or 2 top prospects, otherwise negotiations have no chance of going anywhere. Yeah if people think their going to get Buehrle for some damn scrap heap projects their nuts.
  10. QUOTE(Brian @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 08:39 PM) Johan with a CG shutout against the Mets with 1 strikeout and it came against La Duca in the 9th. Probably why his pitch count was so low. 1 K?? wow.
  11. This guy here is just a NICK behind Jenks. It's pretty bad when winning 2 in a row is a big accomplishment that can't even be reached.
  12. ...well see what happens when you can't lay down a f***ing bunt. Their infront, 6-5 now... great job by Thornton and Bukvich
  13. Our bullpen finally coughs it up... can you guys at least keep them there.
  14. Good job bye the offense there to get us some much needed runs...
  15. QUOTE(NYSox35 @ Jun 19, 2007 -> 08:48 PM) he got it backwards too, it should be "Ozzie Guillen is to Jerry Manuel as John Danks is to John Garland" and you misspelled Jon Garlands name.
  16. Nice job by Aardsma there. Want to see more of that. Been a while since the pen has stranded runners.
  17. These types of stories never get old. Good to hear the kid is doing well and hopefully his body doesn't reject the heart.
  18. Their 3yr rule has worked in the past, but this is one guy you really have to make an exception to. He's a fan favorite, home grown talent, and is one of the most consistent starters in the game. Give him what he wants and extend Garland. If they think they will lose fans by being bad this year they will lose a lot more if Buehrle goes.
