  1. I am currently working on a bachelors degree in computer networking. Right now I work with a company that services schools and I do computer repair/installs, networking, inventory control, etc. I have been there for 4 years this summer. I have invested a lot of time doing this. Not only working, but at home while growing up and at school, but changing my major has crossed my mind before. Now that I am ready to transfer to a university after going to a community college I am asking myself one last time to make up my mind. I am not sure if it's the job I currently have that I need to move on from or the actual field. I am leaning towards the job because theres some parts of my job that I like and I hate, but that comes with them all. I don't dread going to work. Just sometimes I get so fed up with the politics and the people. The responsibility of making sure everything is working since the world revolves around computers today. I have heard it is tough finding a good job in the field. Especially if you don't know people. Even if I did decide I am not fit for this, the next question is what will I do next? I have had a growing interest in writing, specifically sports (haha). I would love to be a columnist for a newspaper or a magazine. The thing is I wouldn't know where to start. I don't know anything about the field and what I am required to do to get where I want. Is it a pipe dream or realistic? Would it support a lifestyle comparable to what I think I could have in computer networking? I need some input guys, thanks!
  2. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 30, 2007 -> 10:39 PM) Judging from Ozzie's comments after today's game, he has come to the realization this team needs to be changed to win. Its time for KW to admit he was wrong this winter, swallow his pride and either make some really bold moves in an attempt to catch up this season or start selling off pieces that aren't going to be around in 2008. Yup, he made it a point to include the second half of last season carrying over now. I am patiently waiting on KW to respond. Is he still traveling with our minor league teams?
  3. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ May 30, 2007 -> 06:15 PM) The problem is players not performing to expectations or ability. It can still be turned around, but this series against the Twins is hard to swallow. But, it started with that last game versus Tampa. The season is by no means over. A lot of people are pissed off just because of how many games this team has blown and I have said it, it is FRUSTRATING. It really is nuts how some bad years and crappy players mixed in can have such a negative affect on the teams future outlook. We've seen it before, if KW can get a steal or two through trade, sign a guy, another come up through farm system and the current players we have perform up to career norms we don't look so bad. If they put together a winning streak and win series like they were before the pitching fell apart we should hang in there. Then again will the pitching come back? That's something KW will have to address. There are far too many holes for him to just stand pat. He needs to begin plugging in holes now for the present and future.
  4. Boy am I glad I didn't see todays game...
  5. QUOTE(knightni @ May 29, 2007 -> 12:35 AM) Gaged ™ Lol... that is funny... especially going back and reading his post.
  6. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ May 27, 2007 -> 02:49 AM) Despite the bullpen's recent woes, we still have the 4th best ERA in the AL, ahead of all the others in our division. Cleveland is ranked 8th, middle of the pack, and I don't see that changing. I think in the end it's going to come down to pitching. The tribe's bats will cool down and there's no way the Sox are going to keep hitting .234 all season. I still think minny makes a move in the standings, Baker and Boof will pitch well and once Mauer comes back they'll hit better. I don't think Rogers is going to make a big difference for the tigers. Team with the best pitching will win it. Oh, and we're only one game back of detroit in the loss colum. A good example about how number can be deceiving. Check out this quote: "For now, Cooper seems more than satisfied with the relief crew in place. Even with a 9.29 ERA over its last 17 games, including 61 hits allowed and 30 walks issued in 40 2/3 innings, Cooper knows the support will be there at the end of the game to get the ball to Jenks -- including MacDougal." Now THAT is UGLY.
  7. QUOTE(Felix @ May 28, 2007 -> 11:59 PM) From 2004 to 2007, we've been 19-14 at the Metrodome, including tonights loss and the series win we had there earlier this year. I guess I'm sort of confused as to how this means we're "so bad in Minny." It actually looks worse than the numbers show. Those numbers actually surprise me. The games always have you on the tip of your seat. Something seems to always go wrong. I was not surprised about that chopper that Torii hit. You just know something stupid was going to happen. That is tough luck. It really is. We could be up by 5 and I'll still watch every single out like it's a playoff game. A 1 run lead will always scare the s*** out of me there. You guys remember that game a few years back going into the 9th we were up 1-0 and those assholes tied it on that liner to Konerko that appeared foul (which it was) then went all the way to the bullpen to have the runner on score from first? Ugh...
  8. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 29, 2007 -> 12:18 AM) People are vastly under-estimating the Sox farm system. It lacks the high level prospect but its got an assload of good to mid-level prospects and has a few guys down in the lower levels with the potential to develop into top 50 prospects (in all of baseball). It happens though because there was a point where the Sox system was vastly over-rated and now its shifted the opposite way. The one problem is a serious lack of any sort of middle infield and catching prospects. We are decent in the outfield and solid at 3rd/1st but that is about it. We also have a supreme lack of those high ceiling guys (but like I said there are finally a couple of them starting to sprout up but it is still far too early to see whether they truly turn into high ceiling guys and than at that point we'll have to wonder if they reach there ceiling). Hopefully those guys actually perform at the big league level.
  9. QUOTE(fathom @ May 28, 2007 -> 07:26 PM) I'm sure he'll be up to the big league team in no time. Ozzie will see T. Perez, and he'll be so happy. Comon Timo, Comon TIMO!
  10. The bats took their damn time to come around and now the bullpen besides Jenks can't get an out. It would be nice for the team to finally perform together and not just for one damn game. This team is very very frustrating to watch.
  11. It's actually okay to hear about someone being good when they are good Hawk. Gaudin, that texas pitcher... QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 28, 2007 -> 01:35 PM) Don't get out on the first pitch, at least strikeout and use 3. We need this guy out before the 9th. Way before the ninth. Going from Santana to Nathan is no difference. QUOTE(TheOcho @ May 28, 2007 -> 01:36 PM) What's the name of the girl in the avi? Sara Varone
  12. QUOTE(BearSox @ May 27, 2007 -> 05:28 PM) I disagree with no. 2. The home run to Pena was a high fly ball that carried. It wasn't hit that well at all. Take away that, and Mack giving up that triple, Vazquez has a very good day. You can't go adding and subtracting from peoples lines. If that was the case every player would carry better lines and every team would have more wins. It doesn't work that way. Vazquez is a #5. He will give you some really good games throughout the season and some really bad ones. He cannot be counted on when you need him or in pressure situations. Just because someone has potential doesn't mean they are going to reach it. Everyone needs to realize that this guy is nothing more than a 5th starter.
  13. The bullpen is a mess. With the game on the line I cringe at a pitching change unless it's Jenks...and Thornton.
  14. Anyone have MLB the show 06? I have it for the psp. Doesn't say much, but it's the best baseball game out even though some things really piss me off. Like the high choppers or slow rollers, the fielders take their damn time to field the ball and throw it. Another thing that sucks is a lot of times with line drives to the outfield the players to just run right by it or let it go through them even though you're right in front of the ball. It's maddening. The strike zone on it sometimes really sucks. I don't know if it's to reflect real life, but I always get some good strikes called balls late in the game. Any improvements to 07?
  15. QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ May 27, 2007 -> 04:26 PM) If the Sox fall short of making the playoffs this year, It will be because this team sucks. Fixed it for you.
  16. Sisco is almost at an 8 ERA!! We keep trotting him and Mac out there and we might have 2 guys with ERA in the 8's! QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ May 27, 2007 -> 04:09 PM) Sisco is actually worse than 2006's Cliff Politte. Wow. Why is he here? So glad we're wasting a roster spot for a piece of trash like Sisco. Sorry guy, but you aren't a major leaguer. If he isn't reassigned by tomorow I'll be pissed. No need to call him trash.
  17. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 27, 2007 -> 02:47 PM) Away, Away,Away. Oppo bomb. We pitch to hitters the same way that people pitch us. Pitching in I guess is so 2005. If it works on us it has to work on everyone else right?
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ May 27, 2007 -> 02:27 PM) Gio is still an iffy major league prospect. I'd lose no sleep if we used him, and his enhanced numbers, to acquire a good outfielder. Besides the franchise type players in the minor leagues everyone is iffy until they produce. A lefty with a plus curveball and a good fastball is not just an ordinary prospect.
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ May 27, 2007 -> 02:21 PM) I'd give them any combination of guys in our organization besides for Danks. If you could get Crawford for Gio and Sweeney, you drive those guys to the airport. I'd part with Sweeney, but not Gio. Not with the pitching in the ALC.
  20. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 27, 2007 -> 02:14 PM) Hopefully Crawford doesn't leave after the game.... Everyone would love that, but the Drays always ask for kings ransom.
  21. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 27, 2007 -> 02:10 PM) Nice woodwork boys. Keep it up. Hey Kenny, time to find a LF. A real LF. I definitely agree...because I trust him I know he has his eyes on some already... I just hope they are permanent solutions that can produce now.
  22. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ May 27, 2007 -> 02:07 PM) Seriously now.. I think Owens just because Oz will want speed. It will probably be Owens. For some reason KW still likes him.
  23. Tigers gonna have to deal with more injuries. This time to set up man Fernando Rodney going to the 15 day DL. Link
