QUOTE (goblue5699 @ Apr 28, 2009 -> 07:27 PM) Marquez gave up 6 in the first inning and has walked 4 through two innings. And people still think he has a future...

I am hoping to start a long winning streak. Great match-up to get Danksie his third win.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Apr 26, 2009 -> 09:05 AM) Good luck in Oakland Matt Shaughnessy, and good luck in Detroit DeAndre Levy. In other news, we're at 81 here, which means 19 picks until the Bears pick at 99. Derrick Williams, Rashad Johnson, Duke Robinson, and Juaquin Iglesias are all still here. VERY NICE!! *borat voice* What are the Lions doing? They still haven't addressed the CB, DE, DT, OG, OC, or OT position. Drafting another WR in Derrick Williams after they gave Bryant Johnson $3 per year for 3 years and already have Calvin Johnson? LOL I think the Lions have had a good draft. You can only draft so much for need because many times there isn't a player at your spot that fits your style of play or is good enough. Williams could be a good compliment to Calvin and you gotta get players for your new QB to throw to.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Apr 26, 2009 -> 08:29 AM) The Bears just took a 3-4 DE or DT in Jarron Gilbert from San Jose State. He's 6'5 285. I'm not sure why. Hopefully this is another 2nd day gem from Angelo. Dvorcek sucks and can't stay healthy, need to take some pressure off Tommie Harris. I like the pick, especially with all the FAs on the D-Line.

4/25 Games
Danks is starting to really dominate. He isn't striking out nearly as much as he did in the first week and a half, and his walks are starting to increase. Also, he is on pace for like 30 SBs with some good extra-base hits numbers. I don't know about his D in Winston-Salem, but if it's like Texas, it should be very good.

Bears might need to trade up a little bit to get Nicks. I hope they are targeting him and the Williams talk is a smokescreen.

Beanie would be a good choice for NE. Pair him with Maroney, take some pressure off Brady while he recovers. EDIT: I just saw Fred Taylor was signed, so maybe not.

Gonna going to get murdered tomorrow, so we better pick up the win tonight. Not confident though.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 08:04 PM) John Salmons is the worst ball handler I've seen make the NBA. With him and BG, we have too many me players that aren't great ball handlers. Salmons "me" first attitude has been so much more present in the playoffs.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 23, 2009 -> 06:48 PM) It would be disappointing to lose this series with the pitching match-ups we had. Unless we score 6 or more, we are going to lose this game. Colon has 0 tonight.

When you only throw upper 80s fastballs, people tend to hit you.

Dayan Viciedo
Remember this is a brand new environment to him. I didn't expect him to hit. 300 out of the gate. I am more concerned with how he finishes the season once he adjusts. He will be fine, and remember how young he is too.

Sox @ Orioles, 6:05, CSN
Carlos still doing nothing with runners in scoring position. For the record, I have not been gushing over him either.

QUOTE (BaseballNick @ Apr 21, 2009 -> 08:58 AM) What's the story on Bergesen? Is this his debut? Yeah, you know what that means...Let's hope we break our trend of scuffling against pitchers we've never seen. If Jose can put in a quality start tonight, I will feel good about him. He has been hit hard so far, but pitching-wise he hasn't looked horrible, just needs better location. Get 'er done. I need a Sox win to cope with last night's playoff disappointment.

The question is who does Nix replace? Lilli? Getz? Betemit? I think he will have to mash to be called up.

2009 Potential Free Agents
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 20, 2009 -> 09:43 AM) John Shelby III, if he really has a good season this year, could force his way into the club's plans for 2010 too...there's no solid consensus that Jordan Danks is actually a better prospect than Shelby. Many scouts think Shelby might have an even higher upside, they're probably the two most athletic players in our entire system. I doubt he will be ready next year. He is still extremely raw despite his power/speed numbers. He strikes out too much and walks to little to be major league ready. He is a poor man's Chris Young, and Chris Young has been very slow to produce in the majors. The thing that separates the two is patience at the plate, as Young is much better at taking walks. I fear Shelby would get dominated by major league pitcher in a year. They are doing the right thing with him by slowly pushing him through the system.
