SOX VS ANGELS.... Garcia 1 hit gem
greasywheels121 replied to letsgoarow's topic in 2006 Season in Review
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 05:45 PM) Yes, yes you did. Seriously though, what offseason move would actually surprise any of you? With all this said I am definately cheering for the guy for many reasons, I just have that small pessimistic feeling that something like this could possibly keep him around for another year, no matter how remote the possibility. Trading Pablo Ozuna for Albert Pujols. That'd just be ridiculous. And I'd miss Pablo. -

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Sep 13, 2006 -> 05:38 PM) As much as I hate podsednik I would love for him to do something monumental for the team I cheer for. I am not a Garcia fan and please don't take this the wrong way but to not want him to get a perfect game is pretty moronic. ^^^ -

QUOTE(shoota @ Sep 12, 2006 -> 09:42 PM) I'm still pretty pissed at the situation our team is in. We had a sizeable lead over Minnesota at the break, and pissed it away with extreme quickness. I feel you on that. Minnesota's done nothing worthy of being on top of the Wild Card right now. -

Someone's colorblind. -
WH and I were just talking about this game the other day. Thank god someone came to their senses on the importance of this game and it needing to be seen.

It's interesting to see the way Frank is talked about on the boards now versus the beginning of the season or any time prior. I guess "what have you done for me lately" rings true for just about anything.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Sep 11, 2006 -> 06:04 PM) Will PTI not air on Mondays anymore? Terrible, terrible, terrible. Only this week. Because of the doubleheader.

Yeah, I can't speak for everyone else, but I don't pick my favorite athletes or teams by the way the athletes look. They all could look like that beast that was in the Astros pen last year for all that I care. -
It should be remembered, but it shouldn't become a holiday for the same reasons December 7th isn't one.

Good stuff Ian.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 07:52 PM) If I recall correctly, wasn't it quite a bit more complicated than that? I.e. to keep negotiating with Frank after the time his buyout was given, we'd have to have offered him arbitration, but the Sox were never going to offer him arbitration because salaries don't decline by 80% in arbitration, etc. Good call. And then we wouldn't have been able to sign him until May 1.
-
Fixed. And hop off on the typo people.
-
No reason to harp on that. It wasn't going to happen with KW at the helm. I'm not happy that he's not finishing his career here, but all you can do is get over it.

QUOTE(rangercal @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 05:50 PM) Fact is he didn't get hurt. Could have been had for 500 k + incentives and we would have still had Rowand and 2 stud spects. Rowand could have been traded for a different need on the team , perhaps bullpen (that killed us in april). I said this all before the season started, so I don't want to hear no hindsight bulls***. Had frank gone down in april I would have had to hear it from several guys here. Since he is kicking ass on a 1st place team, you are hearing from me. You know where I stand, and considering the buyout option ($3M) and the option ($10M) we would have had to sign on to retain him, it wasn't exactly realistic.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 05:37 PM) After reading Morneau's comments, I'm sure that they'll just roll over and not try against us. I know this is some of that great sarcasm, but Morneau isn't their manager. However, things would have to seperate A LOT more for any team to be worrying about setting up rotations, etc.

Good lord Frank.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Sep 10, 2006 -> 02:33 PM) Air McNair is the opposite right now. WH and I were talking about this. That's going to be a great situation for him and Baltimore could be damn good. And that KC situation with Green is very unfortunate. -
