QUOTE(AirScott @ Oct 10, 2006 -> 09:19 AM) the NY newspapers say Steinbrenner is going to take another day to decide. The NY Post, however, says that Torre's going nowhere. but like I said, this happens every year. Yankees lose, Steinbrenner blows a gasket, papers say Torre's going to go. wasn't Piniella supposed to replace Torre last year? It was never believable until this year though. Title changed for now.

The CBB threads have always been long. 2006's page was 365.

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 9, 2006 -> 07:48 PM) ST is not as gullible as Peegs or the IB, but I'll debunk this guy's credibility anyway by posting what I posted at the aforementioned sites: Of course, neither the IB or Peegs listened to me. They all backed this guy's credibility with things like "But he posts about football and baseball too". And? What does that have to do with IU or UI basketball. Yeah. I'd have problem believing the same article if it were on ESPN, Sportsline, Yahoo, etc. Somehow Gordon's been able to keep this whole thing very hush for how big of a deal it's become. I'm just going to keep believing that he's going to UI, until I hear him say otherwise.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 8, 2006 -> 04:06 PM) Isn't this a bit worrisome if you're a Colts fan? No. I have no reason to give a s*** about the regular season anymore. We're making the playoffs, and that's when I should seriously start caring about anything. -
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Oct 7, 2006 -> 05:24 PM) I'm starting to wonder how much more time Torre has. That didn't take long.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Oct 7, 2006 -> 05:25 PM) Can the Sox afford that left side of the infield, though? Psssh. Put him in left field.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 7, 2006 -> 05:22 PM) Wow, Uncle George is going to be PISSED. I'm starting to wonder how much more time Torre has.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Oct 7, 2006 -> 04:49 PM) Maggs with a solo shot. Tigers up 1-0 in the 2nd. LMAO@the Yankee message boards. Make that 3-0.

QUOTE(redandwhite @ Oct 7, 2006 -> 03:25 PM) IU wins! Game of the century!!! That was a fun watch and love the outcome. -
QUOTE(GasHeGone @ Oct 6, 2006 -> 09:45 PM) After seeing Big Hurt getting doused with bubbly post-ALDS clinch, I got to thinking...if the A's go all the way, which is not unrealistic, I think Hurt should get another standing O when he comes back to Sox Park. Not only should he get a standing O, but he should be introduced as two-time World Champion FRAAAAAAANK THOMAS. Not only would it give Hurt his due, but I think Sox fans could use the PR. We don't have the best reputation in the class department. Essentially, my biggest fear is that Hurt stays with the A's for a few more years, wins a championship (or two...who knows?...not impossible...) and pulls a Carlton Fisk on us by going to the Hall as an Athletic. Does anyone think this could ever happen? Again, probably not totally likely but some food for thought. Go A's. Go Tigers. Go Dodgers. Carlton Fisk will always be known primarily for his tenure in a Red Sox uniform, just as Frank will always be known as a Southsider.

I cleaned some posts out of this thread. I said very early in this thread (the second post) that this thread was to discuss just Frank's season and accomplishments, and I intend for it to stay that way. We've had 5 billion Thome vs. Thomas threads, there isn't much reason for that to continue in this thread. As I said in the beginning, this thread is going to stay kosher.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 09:19 PM) I have a feeling every Central team will have the same amount of Post season wins in 06. This is like the Big Ten last March. -
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 03:21 PM) Yay. What is that thing?

QUOTE(whitesox1976 @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 01:08 AM) Tigers will be lucky to even win a game against the Yankees. And that makes me appreciate the White Sox 2005 season all the more. Sure, the Tigers were a great story, but it doesn't look like it'll equate to more than one win in the ALDS, if they're lucky. I'm glad we got the whole job done last year. I'll never forget that.

2006 White Sox Catch-All Thread
greasywheels121 replied to greasywheels121's topic in 2006 Season in Review
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 4, 2006 -> 03:25 AM) When you look back at last year's team with a seriously critical eye it's funny to see just how much they overachieved. I honestly have no idea how that team was able to play about 8 wins over their Pythagorean record like they did. I suppose it has to do with how weak the division and league in general was last season. I can't imagine just how far out of the playoffs the '05 Sox roster would finish in '06 likely somewhere around 10 GB or possibly worse. What a charmed bunch of bastards those guys were. Seriously, we won a World Series with Willie Harris, Timo Perez, and Jurassic. -
I was the one that deleted your bump, because it was just incredibly unneccessary. And ask around, I'm one of the biggest Frank fans on the board; so the thread was not deleted because Frank talk is barred here. And everything this thread is trying to do can be done in other threads. We have a Frank thread in the Diamond Club here. And there's been PLENTY of who are you rooting for threads. For example, here and here.

QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 03:32 PM) Frank ^^^^ -
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 3, 2006 -> 03:22 PM) If he had a series like that in either 2000 or 1993, he wouldn't be an ex-White Sox now. http://www.baseball-reference.com/t/thomafr04.shtml His postseason stats are about halfway down the page. I'm not sure what else you were expecting of him 1993. He seemed to fare extremely well, especially for being walked 10 times in six games. And I don't know about you, but I can't recall anyone on the Sox showing up in 2000.
