  1. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 09:21 PM) The problem they have to me is a bunch of worthless idiots discussing baseball. Reminds me of Chris Rock's joke about American Idol. "You got Simon, Paula Abdul, and Al Roker judging singers. What do they know about singing? That's like Christopher Reeves judging a dance contest."
  2. QUOTE(farmteam @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 08:31 PM) I was just wondering...say you had your choice-would you rather live in the big city and go to a couple Major League games a year, or live in a smaller city, and go to more minor league games a year? Remember, while the bigs may be the "Real Deal", think of the cost--way cheaper to attend a minor league game, and you could attend more of them. Also, while I've never been to an affiliated minor league game (I've always wanted to go to one), I have a feeling the game would seem more "pure". I could be way off base on that, but who knows. Something about being able to see the younger guys, too. So, for me, while I love being able go to White Sox games, I think I'd prefer to live in a smaller area and go to more games. And when I say smaller, I'm talking something about the size of, say, the Quad Cities (just the first thing that popped in my head). So, which do you choose? Major League, easily. I live in a city w/ an A ball team. I go to a lot of games, and I've seen a lot of players come through (Pierzynski, Hunter, Lawton, Hawkins, Koskie, Rivas, Cuddyer, Burroughs, etc.) but I'd much rather be at White Sox games.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 02:44 PM) Like I said before the game, I can't stand our 3rd game of the series lineup. Unbelievable amount of below average players on the field at one time is never a good thing.
  4. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 01:19 PM) Woooo go gload My PTC.
  5. That was scary...Pods basically got picked off, but it's KC. So Pods is back on 1st.
  6. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 11:49 AM) Hey greasy if you are reading this, what do you think of Trai Essex? I saw he was from your area and thought I would ask, he's from NW so Danman or others could probably help me out also. Yep. He went to FW Harding. I know he was a tight end in high school, and when he went to Northwestern. He ended his playing career at NW at left tackle. From what I've been reading, you guys may look at him at a couple positions. He's a big guy (6'4, 324 pounds), but he can really move on the field. He'll be good for Pittsburgh. He should continue the history of Fort Wayne to Pittsburgh players well. Rod Woodson was the last guy from the Fort to play for the Steelers.
  7. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Apr 24, 2005 -> 11:24 AM) I really like LeFors; although the odds are against him, I think he may be a starter in the NFL one day. His size is a far cry from most NFL QBs, but he has an excellent head on his shoulders and close-mid range acuracy that is second to none. Ah yes, congrats to Duke Preston, the first Illinois player selected! Colts selected Illinois' Kelvin Hayden in the 2nd round...
  8. I gotta be the first to say it... Norton, you're the greatest!
  9. The Capn makes it happen! Have a good one!
  10. QUOTE(whitesoxin' @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 09:58 PM) DH tomorrow? Hawk said they expect more snow tomorrow though, so that game might even be postponed. Today's game is supposed to be made up on Monday.
  11. Nice...I just noticed Courtney Roby, a WR from Indiana, got drafted by the Titans in the 3rd round. Good luck to him; though I can't root for him, when he's playing Indy.
  12. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 09:52 PM) I dont get it......honestly. Some were ripping Marte in the gane thread saying that he shouldnt have pitched the 10th and some said he shouldnt have pitchefd the 9th. Why are we prasing him? He almost lost us the game then saved it for us. We're flip-flopping like John Kerry. Marte has been inconsistent lastely but a W is a W....Ill take it. Show us where the people that have posted in this thread have said something negative about Marte in the game thread. You have to flip to flop.
  13. Ozzie needs to throw this guy more. Marte, the PTI guys need to send you a can of dap.
  14. No one's ever seen us do this. 14-4, best start in franchise history. We've had a lead in every game. Marte won and died trying out there. Huge dap your way.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 08:27 PM) If KC had 4 lefties coming up in a row, I would have had no problem with Cotts staying in there. However, Ozzie played right into Pena's lineup by leaving a lefty in to face 5 straight righties. Lets just hope Vizcaino can get out of this inning without allowing the run to score! Cheer up man....We're 13-4. Your posts are depressing.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 08:15 PM) Iguchi gave the bunt away way too early. Cost us a big run likely. That's the reason it didn't go right? Who didn't know he was going to bunt?
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 08:04 PM) Cotts basically got Sweeney to strike himself out there, but I'll take it. Isn't that what you're supposed to do? Get the other guy out? Okay, just making sure...
  18. QUOTE(The Critic @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 07:59 PM) I'm not a doctor or trainer, and I'm not at the game, but I'm going to speculate anyway with nothing to base it on....heh.... I'm thinking it's nothing major, since Jose could keep going. He hopped a bit after those two pitches he threw to Stairs, but he didn't seem to be in any huge pain. Dr. Critic signing off... Strained lower right hamstring.
  19. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 07:36 PM) Thats awesome. 4 awards for 1 team! They all deserve them. GO BULLS! Look who wrote the article.
  20. QUOTE(qwerty @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 07:32 PM) Rather not. Hawk '' i have really grown to love that duck''. The aflack duck. That was hilarious.
  21. QUOTE(whitesoxfan56789 @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 07:31 PM) At least if Jose has to go on the DL we can see what B Mac can do. I don't want to see BMac up here yet.
  22. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Apr 23, 2005 -> 06:02 PM) I don't know. Mel Kiper was really high on him. Mel Kiper thinks he looks good.
