I’d actually swap Hays for Acuña at this point and keep Rikuu up for the time being. Culture matters and I think Rikuu, right now, fits that better than LA, all other stats being realistically equal.

A GM is only as good as the $$ he’s allocated. If you look back over the course of 2.25 seasons, Getz actually is doing a great job. Beni absolutely was an atrocious contract, but CG has made some solid signings, solid draft picks, and has built us from the worst team in baseball into what appears to be a playoff contending team, all without the ability to spend like even a mid-tier club in terms of payroll.

He’s got the stuff to be great. Actually might benefit us that he went through some MLB growing pains with CLE and then got returned to us.

I read that whole post confused if Hanser Alberto or Matt Wallner was the former Sox player I couldn’t recall.

Gonzo had some phenomenal ABs today and a big hit that ended up pushing the winning run across. If he can hit .250+ with a little power, we should be able to at least play .500 baseball over the next 2-3 weeks—assuming everyone else keeps trending. That would be huge if we could come out of the NYY series still 2-3 games above .500.

What issues? Detroit played that perfectly. Move the runner over, sac fly. That’s execution. What could we have done differently? Edit: Unless you’re talking overall and not in this 10th, specifically.

Runner on first I would be fine with. If you move him over he’s in scoring position, but not an automatic run on a sac fly.

We all bag on Beni, but that was some phenomenal effort.
