  1. Is KW really any worse than the previous Sox GM's we have had? Schueler won a division title off of Himes' farm system, and despite having the 3rd largest payroll in the MLB, he couldn't win s*** after 1993 until 2000. I could only imagine how b****y Anthrax would be if he were a Twins fan a decade ago. Look at Ryan's first 9 seasons as a GM, and you tell me why he should've still had the title of GM going into the 2001 season.
  2. QUOTE(TLAK @ Feb 25, 2005 -> 06:18 AM) Big Jon has a chance to break into the National's rotation this year. The Nat's notes say "Rauch was impressive during his short stint with the Expos last year, going 3-0 with a 1.54 ERA after being called up from Triple-A Edmonton in early August." I think he can be a pretty good MLB pitcher, but he peed off KW and is gone. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Are those the facts? Or is that your perception of the facts? Rauch, like Kip Wells, only pitch well in pressure-less environments. The only time Rauch pitched well with the Sox was in September of 2002 when the Sox were eliminated from postseason play.
  3. They just showed it, and boy is he thin. Ozzie say mentally he's ready for the big leagues, but KW said he has already told BMac he was cut (along with Jenks, and a couple other younger pitchers.)
  4. QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 06:11 PM) Sorry, its Wilson Valdez. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He looks too dark to be Wilson. Maybe it's Enemencio Pacheco?
  5. Brandon McCarthy segment on Comcast at 6:30.
  6. I just changed the channel and without looking I could tell John Rooney was on Chicago Cubune: Live. They just got done discussing the scrubs, and now they are going to talk about the Sox.
  7. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 05:42 PM) Who do we got here? The only one I recognize is Anderson sitting shotgun. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think Rogo is behind the wheel.
  8. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 02:13 PM) Someone who had made a point to say that Jose C was a better "home" pitcher than on the road and Duque was better on the raod.. this is the reasoning. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Contreras also dominated the Indians last season.
  9. QUOTE(Yoda @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 03:44 PM) WWE!? That s*** is so fake... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's more realistic than films.
  10. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Feb 24, 2005 -> 09:08 AM) why are you singling me out? I was just commenting on the inappropriate pictures that made light of what some elitists on this board deem a "inferior" country, who gave up some of their sons lives in the line of duty. as for the MIA/POW "satire" more inappropriate behavior. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's not making light of people dying. :headshake It's a joke about how Bush responded to John Kerry's claim that there wasn't a large coalition at the beginning of the war. Bush just said "you forgot Poland," and then just stood there for a couple of seconds. Pull your head out of your ass, and get off your f***ing high horse.
  11. I haven't read a book in years, but I might waste some time and money on Canseco's book.
  12. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 05:16 PM) Our 5th starter last year was Danelixon Wraugrilliaz(hope you caught that). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No love for Josh Stewart, Arnie Munoz or Neal?
  13. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 05:00 PM) I believe Poland has continued to back us in iraq start to finish...IIRC <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  14. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 05:59 PM) Without absolute Good, how can you even begin to place value on things or actions? You can't be an atheist and claim any legitimate value system, because the things you place your beliefs in are arbitrary and completely based on the whims of the population...there's no absolute truth. By definition, there must exist a higher power. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> and if there isn't then what?
  15. QUOTE(JimH @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 05:09 PM) Gotcha. Your grandfather knows me by sight and he is good friends with my great aunt. My great aunt knew Harvey Schaller, who was of course your grandfathers grandfather. My great aunt met her husband in 1933, a few days after Prohibition was repealed, at the table right under the peephole. That's the table we try to sit at whenever we pop in. You're not Kim's son, she just has a little girl. I'm guessing you are Sue's son, or Jill's son? If so, I am the guy who gave her (Sue) the picture of the old brewery (Ambrosia) that used to stand where the Schallers parking lot is now. My dad and I had Tony the accordianist out at his house in the western suburbs to play for a party about 10, 11 years ago. We know Joanne the waitress, as well as almost all the Schallers ... they see me in there all the time, they know my first name but mostly know me from bringing my great aunt in there. One of my other favorites is Lou the bartender, he is a real south side treasure. As you know he is a good friend and former classmate of your grandfathers. We have had a lot of happy times in Schallers Pump, it is one of my favorite places. There is nothing quite like it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Good story. My dad is the eldest of all the Schaller children, John. We almost always stop by there, or one of my Uncle's before we head over to USCF.
  16. QUOTE(marsh @ Feb 21, 2005 -> 08:48 AM) Same year, Sox pitcher. Might be biggest fluke season of all time. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Jay "f***ing" Bell of 1999. 38 Homers, 112 RBI's?
  17. The only number that "slipped" when Garcia came here was his home ERA and WHIP. Take any pitcher in the MLB, put them in USCF, and their ERA will skyrocket. Especially your boy Eric Milton. :puke W/Seattle ERA road/home: 3.91/2.61 WHIP road/home: 1.37/1.06 K/9 road/home: 5.4/8.13 GO/AO road/home: 1.13/.88 W/Sox ERA road/home: 3.25/5.37 WHIP road/home: 1.04/1.40 K/9 road/home: 10.15/7.98 GO/AO road/home: 1.08/1.57 Looks like we really missed the boat by passing off Eric Milton!
  18. Story I'm interested in what some of these guys are going to look like next season. (Hernandez, Everett, Contreras)
  19. The last page has the TV Schedule. First WCIU game, 4/8, the Twins opener. :headshake The Schedule also list the Sox playing against the "L.A. Angels."
  20. QUOTE(JimH @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 02:51 PM) Ok, spill ... are you Jim? You can't be Jay, he's a Cub fan. I tried to stop in for dinner Monday nite, you guys are closed for spring cleaning. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Jay and Jim are my Uncles. and CC, my Grandpa is the owner.
  21. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 12:56 PM) I would stick with Jimbos, Shallers, or shinnicks. You also park for free at Shallers... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's SChaller's.
  22. QUOTE(JimH @ Feb 23, 2005 -> 10:50 AM) Schallers Pump, 37th and Halsted. Oldest tavern in the city. Good, cheap food, MGD and Miller Lite on draught, lots of cheap beer in cans. Family owned and operated since 1881. There is another tavern which can be kind of fun after the games called Shinnicks at 38th and Union. No draught beer but it's kind of a cop/fireman bar so obviously it's very safe. The Shinnick family and the Schaller family are related by marriage and after a nite game it gets to be a decent party in there. They might have food but not much to speak of. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> My Dad says it's actually 1880, and we were the first to get a liquor license in Chicago, not the Berghoff place. My Uncle George runs Shinnick's.

  24. QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Feb 22, 2005 -> 03:37 PM) Hmmm. Maybe it's just me, but I'd much rather watch King Of The Hill than Family Guy. That's a pretty controversial list you have there. That's almost like ranking the Beatles and having Ringo on top. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I wouldn't go that far, but Family Guy isn't considering they have stolen material from the Simpsons.
