  1. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Feb 18, 2005 -> 10:26 PM) FWIW, over at Blackhawkzone.com, they've posted the new rules that will be implemented if and when the new NHL season starts, be it in March or October (hopefully no later)... What do you guys think about the penalty shots? They'll still have the great OT's for the playoffs, but even for the regular season -- I really don't think a game should ever be decided by a player-vs.-player type of play. Hockey is such a team game -- even if shootouts are a lot of fun, I really don't think they belong at the highest level of pro-hockey... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> My Hockey loving friends would bash me when I brought up the idea of penalty shots to break ties. That goalie rule sounds cool too.
  2. QUOTE(Hall of Famer @ Feb 18, 2005 -> 05:36 PM) Any chance Holly grabs back onto ATH? ATH could use him back as long as Bob Ryan. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Why would you want to see either of those two Boston homers?
  3. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Feb 18, 2005 -> 04:55 PM) Isn't that El Duque? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Now that you mention it..................
  4. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Feb 18, 2005 -> 03:55 PM) In case people are wondering, the few numbers that you can see: 54- Diaz 32 - Hermanson 57 - Bajenaru 64 - Villacis <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And Damaso is the only one with the high socks pulled up over his pants.
  5. I'm glad to see Jim Rome get a daily half hour show live before ATH. Much better than seeing the WSOP for the 13,548,264,981 time.
  6. Buster Olney has us 21st :headshake: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/columns/stor...ster&id=1994416
  7. QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Feb 18, 2005 -> 01:39 PM) The screwball is the toughest on the elbow, I believe. Is there even anybody in MLB who throws one now? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I could've sworn Johan was using one last season.
  8. Fiction: A White Sox starting pitcher will win 20 games this season. Fact: Willie Harris will be on the White Sox opening day roster. Fiction: Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez will toss more than 140 innings this season. Fiction: Shingo Takatsu will record more than 30 saves this season. Fiction: Scott Podsednik will set a career high in both batting average and OBP this season. Fiction: Frank Thomas will play in more than 120 games this season. Fact: Carl Everett will get more than 350 at-bats this season. Fact: A White Sox starter other than Mark Buehrle or Freddy Garcia will throw a complete game shutout this season. (Garland will throw 2 in a row.) Fact: The White Sox will win the American League Central in 2005, in fact, they will win the World Series!!!!
  9. QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 18, 2005 -> 10:56 AM) I don't think Arizona's CF is any good at all, iirc. Willie might be a stopgap for them. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Arizona got Jose Cruz Jr. last week.
  10. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 18, 2005 -> 07:57 AM) That has got to be embarassing for Neal as he has got to be 5 or 6 inches shorter than Adkins. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Muscle weighs more than fat, that's always been my excuse. Seriously though, last season on several ocasions Hawk said he talked to the head trainer and he told Hawk that Neal is in the best shape of any Sox player.
  11. QUOTE(qwerty @ Feb 14, 2005 -> 04:28 PM) For the price morneau>konerko. In as little as year or two money aside it will be morneau>konerko. I am sure not many will agree with me. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I could care less about the financials, but for 2005 I would take Paulie.
  12. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Feb 14, 2005 -> 01:20 PM) There's really no consensus or rules so to speak as to what goes where, I just moved it because it was Non-Sox. It'd get too confusing if we had certain guidelines, so we all just move stuff at our own discretion basically. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Better split the thread and take it to the Roadhouse.
  13. The google search only comes up with two pics. I had to dig through whitesox.com to get this one. <_
  14. QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Feb 14, 2005 -> 01:12 PM) He sold himself short. After this season Randy Johnson's salary would of been a starting point. He's either stupid or just not greedy. Damn why can't we have players like that... :headshake <{POST_SNAPBACK}> AJ? Dye? Frank? How about the contract that your boy Rowand signed after this season?
  15. QUOTE(WilliamTell @ Feb 14, 2005 -> 12:54 PM) The way Garland pitches, I don't think we'll have to worry about signing him for a decent price. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If you aren't satisfied with his pitching, why would you want to bring him back?
  16. Aaron Boone is yet another NL to AL crossover that didn't work out. He batted .254 with the Yankees in 2003. Can anybody think of any hitters that came over from the NL to dominate the AL in recent years? I can only think of Vladimir Guerrero.
  17. QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Feb 14, 2005 -> 11:01 AM) I've watched some of these cartoons.... i just dont really find em funny... maybe its just not my cup of tea <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You're not alone.
  18. I hope he flops this year trying to live up to the money, and I hope this mortgages the Twins franchise for the next 4 years.
  19. Do they still run the Eagle Man commercials?
  20. QUOTE(Hall of Famer @ Feb 13, 2005 -> 10:19 PM) that one is awesome, though why is the backround white? 'Bout time we got some Sox specific ones. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's probably my fault, cuz I made that one.

    Grammys

    Which song did he perform?
  22. QUOTE(TLAK @ Feb 13, 2005 -> 06:04 PM) Mike Wallace is going to interview him. I didn't know he was still alive. Just googled his bio, he was born in 1918, thats 87 years ago. Wow. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And even HE can't say he was alive for a Sox World Championship.
  23. I downloaded it a few months ago and shortly after my computer crashed and I had to reformat it. I'll pass.
