If you had total control over sports...
santo=dorf replied to ZoomSlowik's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Force the NHL, AHL, AFL, MLS, CBA, NASCAR, F-1 Racing, and NASA to fold. Wait, the last one can stay. -
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Feb 1, 2005 -> 05:26 PM) OMG thank you Cheat. Why is it so hard to get that Maggs at 19 times a year is A LOT worse than Maggs 6 times a year????? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Because he's also playing the Twins and Indians 19 times a year. Don't you get sick of seeing Detroit laying down for the Twins?

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Feb 1, 2005 -> 05:25 PM) I can't beleive how lopsided the voting is... I'd rather see him on the Cubs.... He's not gonna hurt us there. While I don't think the Tigers are anything this year, with or without maggs, picking him up makes them a serious threat in '06 and down the road. Especially when KW discovers that the fast guys who can't hit suck. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He can also help us by playing well against the Twins and Indians 19 times a year. Ever think about that?

QUOTE(YoungstownIndians @ Feb 4, 2005 -> 06:30 PM) Bull! If anyone is predicting a below .500 team this year I have seen it on like 2 sites, It is the SOX. They all have the Tribe above .500 at #2 or #3. Omar was older and Lawton SUCKED from the break on dropped some 45 points. Our offense is better. Your rotation is better. Our bullpens are equal. Geeze you guys are bias. I have talked with 3 ppl privately from here who agree! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Your offense is not better. Magglio and Frank missed a combined 198 games last season and the Sox were still 3rd in the league in runs scored. You guys had career years from a handful of guys last year yet you assholes still couldn't finish above .500. What was Sabathia's ERA in the second half? What was Cliff Lee's ERA in the second half? What was Belliard's BA in the second half? How well did Aaron Boone do when he first came over to the AL 1 1/2 years ago? Do us a favor, go drive up to that s***hole city known as Cleveland, and dive headfirst into a shallow lake that is engulfed in flames. :fyou

QUOTE(YASNY @ Feb 4, 2005 -> 04:34 PM) I thought I covered that in my post. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Read too fast. So how long do you give him until you would consider him a bust?
-
We must have different definitions of a "prospect" then because Sammy Sosa was already traded and he spent two full seasons with the Sox before being trade to the Scrubs. "Project?" Maybe. "Prospect?" no.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Feb 4, 2005 -> 04:14 PM) ROFL @ that pic. Funny thing is my school had to make a rule of no sexual dances and you have to be at least 6 inches apart because panties and condoms were found on dance floors at my school... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ewww.

In "Red Heat" Jim Belushi and Arnold watch Baines fly out and Guillen steal second in a game against the Tigers. In "Rookie of the year," Comiskey Park was used as the home stadium for the Dodgers.

QUOTE(WSFAN35 @ Feb 4, 2005 -> 01:05 PM) C: Equal - Pierz = Barrett - Pierz and Barrett are both offensive minded, defensively weaker catchers. Pierz has better RBI potential, while Barrett has higher average potential. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Based on what? AJ was a career .300 hitter before his dissapointing season in SF last year. Barrett is a career .260 hitter even after his good year with the Cubs last season. In 529 career innings playing catcher, Barrett has 44 passed balls, 31 errors, has allowed 311 stolen bases, and has thrown out 101, 24.5% CS. In 534 career in playing catcher, AJ has 23 passed balls, 20 errors, has allowed 197 stolen bases, and has thrown out 82, 29.4% CS. How much longer is Korey Patheticson going to get by on that "potential" bulls***? Take a look at this; Bad Year for Scott Podsednik: .313 OBP, 70 SB Carrer stats for Korey Patheticson: .303 OBP, 71 SB :fthecubs

QUOTE(JoshPR @ Feb 4, 2005 -> 11:32 AM) :headshake <{POST_SNAPBACK}> OH DEAR GOD IT'S A POLL!!! Get the "30" removed and replace it with "$$."

So how is that useful?

QUOTE(3E8 @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 10:48 PM) And I was rejected by the very school he is attending. Ouch, my ego. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Now, now, now, he only represents LAS at UIUC.

QUOTE(shagar69 @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 09:13 PM) whats funny is that im prolly gonna go to COs again tonite cuz a frats takin me out, lol. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sounds romantic.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 08:56 PM) Dude, aren't you 19? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You only have to be 19 years old to get into the bars down here.

Serious questions for Hockey fans, do you really want the season to start? Won't the playoffs start like 2 1/2 months later? What's the point? Would this year's Stanley Cup winner be as meaningful as the previous champions?
-
How bad must you suck if you're on this team and you still can't get any playing time?
-
Yeah that's good!
-
lol Is there any way to make his face more Pale?
-
QUOTE(bogie @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 08:35 PM) What does "OPS" mean? How is it calculated? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> On base % + Slugging %
-
Wow!!! These guys really suck!
-
Last week I dreamed that the Sox traded Jon Garland for Brad Penny.
-
I wanna get this picture of Jim Hendry on the Emperor's body. Could one you guys with a good program make a pic please? I would be cool if you could whiten Jim's face too.

QUOTE(BlackBetsy @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 05:05 PM) Note how deep the Twins' prospects go....Justin Jones is down on their list and he'd probably be #3 on the Sox's list. Bartlett would probably be #1 on our list. Durbin would be right up there with McCarthy. Kubel would probably be #1 as well. Crain would be in the top 2 in our list. Ugh. Depressing to see just how deep the Twins' farm system is. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I couldn't accept a decade of losing for a farm system like theirs.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Feb 3, 2005 -> 04:34 PM) 87% of you show where your true allegience lies... You don't care if the sox win, so long as the cubs lose. -- That's just sad. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Is that the only conclusion you can come up with? One player does not making a f***ing team. Personally I want him to sign with the Tigers because it gives him the security he wants, he's not going to make Detroit a contender, and I would love to see the Sox slap the ball to right center or down the first base line in Comerica to set a record for triples and inside the park home run in a single game because he sucks in the field. If he signs with the Cubs, we'll never hear the end of "He chose the Cubs over the Sox," and other propaganda from the Tribune. The people whom voted yes care more about the Cubs than the Tigers, not the Sox. :headshake

QUOTE(ihatethecubs @ Feb 2, 2005 -> 07:08 PM) some of hendrys deals, like when he got aramis and lee, were great on his part...cant argue with that. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The Cubs are a major market team and ate up on players from teams desperate to cut payroll. Is Brian Cashman a genius for getting A-Rod for 7 years in exchange for Alfonso Soriano?
