  1. Yet another waste of cash on a free agent by the Twins. Crede made $5.5 million this year.
  2. That's Ozzie being clueless or out of options. Go look at the game thread. People were saying it's too bad Dye can't be moved down in the lineup because there is no one to move up.
  3. If any Cubs fan still gives you grief about TV ratings just ask them what the TV ratings were when they last won the WS.
  4. What lovefest? Most people are expecting him to be gone after this season. We're not comitted to pay him $60 million either. That's where the concern is.
  5. You couldn't possibly be more wrong. http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/news/story?id=4390120 Why wouldn't he want his contract a week after trying to trade for him? Hopefully that last blurb from KW will be enough for people to stop giving him a free pass for this season.
  6. So he must count as two $2,020,000 can pay for a lot of ST invites.
  7. Rios has been hurting the team for 5 weeks now. We're trying to win a division title here. We spent $20,000 to claim him and we are paying him $2 million (?) to be a black hole in our lineup. What couple of good prospects came from the Swisher deal? Don't mix up quantity with quality either. The Sox have had success picking players off the scrap heap before spring training that can help out the pitching staff.
  8. Cox working harder than Greg Walker to improve the team batting average.
  9. KW came out and said he was inquiring about him before the July 31st deadline when the Sox were 1.5 games out of first, so obviously he was thinking of next year and beyond at the time. I'm betting if the Sox lose Rios on waivers or trade him for a Swisher-esque package, the same people that are currently giving him a free pass will talk about how smart KW is to get such a heavy asset and non-contributor off the books.
  10. The Sox were 3 games out of first when the claim was made with 2 months to play and a hole in CF. Does anyone REALLY think KW was thinking of next year when he claimed him?
  11. Hey that's nice, but the Sox were competing when they acquired him and are now (mathematically) still in it. Rios can either show up and play or go f*** himself on the bench.
  12. Yeah, the Sox had NO idea what his contract looked like when they acquired him. Either that or KW's "three year board" is a crock of s***. If you think a $1.8 million jump (from $3.5 million) is "huge" followed by another $1.45 million jump, and one final $2.5 million jump than Rios' must be monstorous. (His 2009 contract is more than Swisher's followed by a jump of $3.8 million, then a jump of $2.3 million to make at least $12 million for four years.) What about Peavy's? $4.5 million at least to possibly not pitch for the season follow by a jump of $4 million, then another $1 million raise, and then another $1 million raise. It gets topped with a $4 million buyout or a INSANSE option. There's no doubt the Sox would've received a much better package for Swisher this offseason than last offseason. NONE. The package we received was garbage and Swisher has been a beast away from Yankee stadium this year.
  13. Believe me, even if it was i would've squashed because greg and elrick would've taken it seriously.
  14. So I guess you have no, or bad expectations for Peavy, Rios and whomever else the Sox decided to acquire just because they are playing somewhere else.
  15. Just curious, what are your thoughts on Rios? Via youtube and some reports from the clubhouse, Rios is a D-bag, is being outperformed by Wise, is striking out too much, and wishes he was hitting .219 with the Sox.
  16. Except that Joe was a .266 hitter in the "clutch." http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/...r&t=b#clutc Sorry, a 3-run homer in the 5th is more important than the walkoff single. If the 3-run homer isn't there, there is no setup for the walkoff. Just give me the best damn overall hitters possible.
  17. I'd also like to know how much pressure a prancer on first is putting on the hitter at the plate. The saying is that the hitter will get more fastballs, but I have to believe the percentage of players swinging at junk and striking out goes way up when there's a guy taking off for second. Isn't that why Dye and Cabrera had to be separated last year?
  18. Greg, I have a really hard time calling a guy, who by the numbers, was a below average offensive player (compared to every hitter in the leage) at a corner position anything more than a "good" player. How can a player with a career 93 OPS+ (100 is the line for the "average" hitter) be a "good" hitter without question?

    1. The claim was made that the movie about food service is especially funny if you've ever work at (a real life) restaurant. That's not the only time I've seen that claim made. 2. Super Troopers and Road Trip weren't movies about the food service industry. 3. Super Troopers and Road Trip (American Pie 2.5) weren't good movies because they weren't that funny. 4. You fail.
  20. Really, we're using 2006 stats? Freddy Garcia was 17-9, 4.53 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, 216.1 IP and nearly threw a perfect game in 2006. Perhaps we should make him our #3 starter after Peavy and Buehrle next season?
  21. ..don't forget dumping that other clubhouse cancer Jose Contreras

Yeah, it's sooooo funny to see people showing off their genetalia and contaminating people's food. Why did everyone flip out when that Domino's video was released? (just got done watching a segment on Inside Edition.)
  23. I thought this was an interesting read, especially with some of the whining in the Jim Thome thread http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AqP5...o&type=lgns
  24. Why did Minnie Minoso have such a bad year? Or were you talking about Minnie Mouse?
