Ozzie's handling of Brian was terrible, and there's a great chance Konerko doesn't come back after 2005 without the Thome trade. With the exception of 2007, which was a lost year for the Sox, Rowand's numbers have been very pedestrian. I'm also wondering at what point should we start expecting results from our minor leagues under the watch of the losingest manager in MLB history (I keep hearing so much about how he's going to help.) We've traded 3 former 1st round picks this year. 1 for a premium pitcher, 1 for a backup catcher, and 1 for a washed up backup OF and 1B. Another 1st round pick is rotting in the minors and might not be with the team next year.

Yes, who cares about Mitchell specifically? I'm guessing there will be at least two players drafted after Mitchell that will do well in the MLB and people will complain about not drafting them instead. Want that first round pick back? Offer Hudson arbitration after the season. There's a possibility it won't be a first round pick, but you get a sandwich pick on top of it too.

Why would they? He's having a great year and if they want to get rid of him they'll pick up the option and trade him.
-
I certainly hope his time with the Sox so far isn't a preview. He's been worse than Anderson and Wise, and his numbers have been declining for a couple of years now.

Even the 2006 and 2008 versions of Vazquez are better that our 4th and 5th starters this year. He also said that the problems with the trades is that there was zero return for this year's team. The Swisher trade was garbage (remember, I wanted him traded before the season) and whatever "cash savings" that allowed for us to pay $5 million this year for a Chubby Viciedo to put up a .691 OPS and make a ton of errors has been flushed down the toilet with the Rios waiver claim (whose numbers aren't as good as Swisher) and the injured Peavy trade (who can still demand a trade.)

Now up to .333/.391/.571, but yes, trading one of your top prospects for NL 7th inning men is clearly a great way to build a successful ball club. Just ask Ed Wade.

Glad someone is listening to cryptville. Personally I didn't understand how people could keep posting about multiple topics in one thread, ask for a separate forum, and then never post in it (Bhawks, Big Ten board, Bulls board to an extent.) For going to the other boards I don't see how it is convinient to keep logging into separate boards as Rangercal mentioned. I like how the setup Motown sports. I also like when the NCCA BB tourney starts there is a separate sub-forum. Look how popular that is. I say give cryptville his wish.

If it wasn't for all the watermarks that would be an awesome picture.

8/29 Thread - Sox vs Yankees - 12:05pm CDT on WGN

Well one poster who thought he was our best option today also thinks or at least thought Jose is our best pitcher. I'm guessing that's based on "stuff" and 2005ness. -
After the game I asked him about it and he said "f*** you! Who gives a f***? f*** you!"

Engineer at a production plant We have it coming in a couple of months. Lots of training coming up.

That has to be at least the third time this year we made two outs at home plate in one inning. Cox has to go.
-
Don't shut him down otherwise we'll never see him make a start in a White Sox uni after he opts out of contract or demands a trade this winter.
-
Those second half numbers are still better than what Rios has given us. Man, he is going to be overpaid.

I always liked Haeger. Made me think of Final Fight.

None of this has happened. However since this post Pena has a 2.25 ERA and 1.33 WHIP with 11K's in 12IP. I'd still like to believe we could've received more for Allen, and now Thome and Dye have taken big dips since the all-star break there is the question of bringing either back next season.

On an old bloopers tape I had a Detroit (?) pitcher was wild and threw over the head of a Brewers (?) player who managed to duck out of the way. Although he ducked his bat still held upright and made contact with the ball going into fair territory. He just tossed his bat and didn't make much of an effort to run to first. Ozzie Gullien motioning to his other arm and being forced to use the wrong reliever... Idiot.

Who here is happy Uribe's not on the team anymore?

Yep. Paraphrasing Ozzie: "If Beckham is playing for the 2009 White Sox, we have problems." -
That's barely a degree. My co-worker's nephew was DFA by the Red Sox last week.

Bigredrudy was in his 70's but I haven't seen him log into here or WSI in a couple of years. He usually hung around the minors forum.

A sox fan tossed a beer on Rocco Baldelli a few years ago and it was a scene.

Even against a sinkerballer?

I don't support bunting too much, especially in the American league, but if you have a s***ty player at the plate and there is not a better option off the bench, it's not too bad of an idea to have him bunt with less than two outs.

Israel Seriously though, are there still petitions to make Puerto Rico the 51st state?

He had a small cult following here, led by Dick Allen. I think Speier will make more than Linebrink next season.
