  1. You willing to move to the Quad Cities? They just posted an opening for an attorney with 3-5 years of law experience. Looks like it a representative for lawsuits against the products.
  2. Good to see the catch-all thread found its way back to the clubhouse.
  3. I am getting so sick of the "it opened up a spot for Floyd or Danks" comment about Garland. That's completely hindsight and could've been applied if Garland was released eating his entire salary which wouldn't be fair to say either. Couldn't I say the trade of Garland allowed us to suffer from Javy all season long, or that we could've had someone step in Contreras' spot and not force our guys to go on short rest for so long (could possibly effect them for next season.) "Opening a spot" without hindsight would be something like a Liriano situation where he is dominating and is blocked. Danks and Floyd were coming off of 5+ era seasons. Also, if it's true that the Sox aren't planning to offer Cabrera arbitration, I hope there's a filter that wipes out anytime some posts "player X is a type A free agent so that's two picks we'll get back."
  4. Low risk, high reward! Coop will fix him! This reminds me of claiming Jenks in 2004! Start printing the tickets!
  5. It's pretty obvious Jeremy was paying more attention to the box score than watching the actual games. I agree we may have overpaid for Carl the second time in the sense that perhaps we could've offered less but not because it appears he didn't do anything for us, but because he wasn't having a good year and he was out of shape. Seriously how could you forget him off the 2005 team?
  6. They could wait to see him clear to see if the Sox will pay a significant part of that contract for a player. If a team put in a claim on him the Sox would've had them responsible for his guaranteed $3 million.
  7. There's more to baseball than home run hitting while playing half your games in a bandbox. That number is greatly helped by a season at the beginning of that 3 year window.
  8. Stoneman has handed out some really silly contracts, but has shown a really good strength in building bullpens, including other teams' bullpens by leaving 4 catchers on the 40 man at one time and losing guys like Jenks, Turnbow, and Joel Peralta.
  9. Like that Nunez dude we acquired yesterday. How lame would it be the Sox left him unprotected and someone drafted him?
  10. "Stats first?" He got punked by Balfour in the big show as well.
  11. Exactly. MacDougal is garbage. Our only hope is for MacDougal to ask for a fresh start and get his release or get Ed Wade drunk.
  12. I used my reduced stimulus check to see the Sox get their ass kicked by the Twins and the Royals
  13. I'm about 100% sure when a player is "outrighted" he went through the waiver process and nobody claimed him.
  14. Can't MacDougal reject the guaranteed money to become a FA?
  15. Are you really trying to compare a utility man who lost his starting job to a guy who was shoved into CF most of the year? VORP doesn't mean much for players at defensive position because it only takes in account OPS at that position. That's why guys like Swisher and Mack in CF don't look so bad on paper. It's also the same argument people try to make how Pedroia is a better hitter than some first basemen or DH's.
  16. True, but Konerko had a higher LD% and lower BABIP so he gets a free pass, right? ...and like Balta mentioned, he played through an injury as well.
  17. Out of players with at least 250 PA's, Swisher outslugged only Michael Bourn on the road. Quentin led the AL, but was 8th in the MLB. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/stats/battin...&qual=false
  18. Dude, he has a gold glove just like Crede should've had 5.
  19. Vazquez to go before we trade for Taveras or some other CF?
  20. Strawman. No, you trade Garland for a package of younger players, or a REAL CF. Just don't trade a SP rental for a SS rental when you already had an option there (with similar defense and OPS but cheaper and a better attitude.)

    Films Thread

I heard "The Wrestler" is an academy award contender for best picture. Really looking forward to that one, but I think they're releasing it too late.
  22. ...and Fields crushes lefties and is teh suxk against RHP
  23. Doesn't meean he wasn't the most overrated. Some foolish Sox fans and announcers thought he was better than A-Rod and was the second coming of Mike Schmidt or Pete Rose.
  24. I don't need batting average to tell me Swisher wasn't a productive player last year. I was just saying I didn't realize he was THAT bad (still not the worst.)
  25. Bulls***. f*** Nick Swisher for once and for all. I didn't even realize this: I guess we should also gives props to shipps and BearSox (although he called the deal bad more on what we gave up) for their original thoughts of the Swisher trade at the beginning.
