  1. If we were to post the "clutch" stats I'm sure those would just be dismissed as well, so I'll just ask the pro-Baines crowd, does Jim Rice deserve to be in the HOF?
  2. Milton Bradley to the Cubs Pat Burrell to the Rays Mike Lamb signed a deal with the Brewers with the Twins on the hook for most of the $3 million salary.

  4. Guys shouldn't use other borderline players just to get in. You say he was the "dominant" player at his position, DH, but Harold never led the league in anything except for slugging % in 1984. You say he missed some time due to the strikes which cost him some milestones, but he hung around for 22 years anyways. By the end he was so protective in matchups his last season with 500 at-bats was 1989. In 1997 he did have 510 plate appearances however but did not finally retire until 2002. Here are the HOF measures from Baseball reference.com: Black Ink: Batting - 3 (507) (Average HOFer ≈ 27) Gray Ink: Batting - 40 (602) (Average HOFer ≈ 144) HOF Standards: Batting - 44.3 (105) (Average HOFer ≈ 50) HOF Monitor: Batting - 66.0 (279) (Likely HOFer > 100) Not even close. Sorry Harold.

Michael Clayton was so boring. Bardem put the creeps in everyone during NCFOM
  6. To my understanding to avoid those infections you just regularly need to clean your dick. Can we really trust boys to make sure and touch themselves there in the shower?
  7. Isn't he busy enough? God, Cooper has become quite the tired cliche.
  8. Neither Ring or Floyd are "proven." Happy? What does DA get for correctly guessing Jose Canseco on the second part of your original question?
  9. Ramon Vazquez signed with the Pirates Nick Punto re-signed with the Twins Jason Michaels signed with the Astros Felipe Lopez (typo in his name) signed with Arizona Aaron Boone signed with the Astros Adam Everett signed with the Tigers Trot Nixon signed a minor league deal with the Brewers Kevin Mench signed with the Hanshin Tigers in Japan Brad Penny signed with the Red Sox Jamie Moyer re-signed with the Phillies Mark Hendrickson signed with the O's Darren Oliver accepted arbitration from the Angels Jorge Julio signed a 1 year deal with the Brewers Dan Wheeler signed a three year extension earlier in the year with the Rays
  10. New York also has the Fantastic 4, the Incredible Hulk, and Daredevil, and The Punisher
  11. When talking about inducing groundballs, Jon Garland has no business being mentioned in the same breath as Webb and Lowe. Career GB/FB: Lowe: 3.32 Webb: 3.57 Garland: 1.29 It's not even close. People really need to stop exaggerating his groundball tendencies and with one of the worst K/9 rates in the MLB, he's putting a lot of flyballs in play anyways.
  12. Kenny's had his eye on Roberts before. I hope he lands him Why are Danks and Floyd mentioned in the same breath as Buehrle in terms of being "solid" or a proven commodity. "Stuff" or draft positions be damned, they've only had 1 good year. I'm not saying they should be moved as they'll be bad, but I still considered then unknowns for next year, especially Gavin considering the Sox's lack of options with him. Someone mentioned Cliff Lee, but the Sox won't have the opportunity to send Gavin to AAA to work on something.
  13. Tony Clark re-signed with the D-bags today.
  14. John McDonough said this was the best day of the history of the Blackhawks. Typical Cub mentality. It's all about the Disneyland experience and not the outcome of the game.
  15. I watched the spider-man series way out of order (3,1,2) and wasn't that impressed. The second was really good in the first half, but kinda boring in the second half. I didn't care for the hob-goblin villian in 1 and villians in 3 were randomly mixed together and it came off more as a TV show. The second movie also has weird reactions of people in New York (Whoa, he stole that guy's PIZZA!) and has a girl plucking the spider-man theme on the violin as well. One thing I never understood, what exactly is Spider-Man slinging from? When he's flying over the middle of traffic he's shooting his web at a diagonal forwards seemingly hooking onto nothing. I enjoyed all the special features on the Blu-ray edition as well.
  16. I don't agree with this at all. I know plenty of people who use coke to keep consuming alcohol until 6AM in the morrning. If they weren't introduced/hooked/had the vice of consuming alcohol would they use cocaine? Some of these same people also use this as a pick me up the next morning from the legal alcohol. On the otherside I know people who stopped drinking alcohol to smoke pot, and some that smoke cigarettes only after they toke up because they feel it enhances the high. The gate swings both ways I guess.
  17. No it isn't. People try cigarettes and alcohol before weed or "hard" drugs. How come they aren't considered "gateway" drugs? Oh right, they're legal and taxed on. I imagine if pot went the same way as these two people would stop calling it a gateway drug.
  18. Michael Barrett signed with the Blue Jays on a minor league deal (HAW HAW) CC and Tex both signed with the Yankees Chan Ho Park signed with the Phillies Cesar Izturis signed with the O's Mark Loretta signed with the Dodgers Casey Blake Re-signed with the Dodgers Rafael Furcal re-signed with the Dodgers Juan Rivera re-signed with the Angels Corey Patterson signed a minor league deal with the Nats Randy Johnson signed with the Giants Jorge Sosa signed a minor league deal with the Nats Kyle Farnsworth signed with the Royals Astros re-signed Doug Brocail Reds signed Arthur Rhodes Indians signed Wood Mets signed K-rod Scott Downs was not a free agent as he signed a three year deal last January.
  19. fits right in with the rest of those PED toons. So Hendry might turn Marquis, SteroiDosa, and trash for Bradley, Peavy, Miles, and Vizcaino. Not too shabby I suppose.
  20. I wish someone would set up a texting system to the ushers to page them in if there's a problem. I know, I know, another person using a cell phone.
  21. Last time I read he and his agent (Boras) were expecting $14 million a year for 5 years. Derek Lowe will probably sign before him.
  22. Because the guy who carried the gun didn't want to be a victim. That's the excuse I hear from the wingers everytime something like this happens at a school or some other place where guns are banned. Sorry for the political hijack, but where was this guy when I saw "The Nutty Professor 2" on a Sunday night in Joliet a few years back?

So will someone confirm that the only theatres carrying "The Wrestler" is a a small theatre in Evanston, and AMC 21 in Chicago?
  24. Yeah just like Ponson, Livan Hernandez, Ramon Ortiz or some other garbage pitchers that everyone knew it was stupid to throw millions of dollars at them
  25. ...and Cincy is going to give up Votto for a rental? At least Joey didn't s*** his pants when he was called up to the majors in 2007 and 2008 like Homer.
