  1. i read up a little on this bulls*** stat and it seems to be the same rehash of what a pitcher cannot control from his defense thus with should get a big boner over K/9 I still don't understand how the same people who emphasize K/9 are the same people who say it doesn't matter if Howard, Dunn, or Jack Cust strike out 190 times a year because it's just another out.
  2. Jumped mine too and started after I turned it off a couple of times. Waited another 15 minutes and try to start it again but the voltage was down to 10.7 volts. Looks like I'm going to have to change it tomorrow. Anybody have any battery changing horror stories.
  3. Oh Rockabilly......... Could that be the SOX!>!11!
  4. I got a decent camera for a great price from CircuitCity.com but seem to recall the pickup of the item still took forever. The Joliet Store had a horrible layout at it seemed the registers were randomly placed by the phones, in the back by the video games, and most people checked out at the spot where the big items would go through. I went there once on a Black Friday to get Tony Hawk 3 for $9.99 and it was a complete mess.
  5. When companies start liquidating don't they actually jack up the price and just mark it with a "clearance" tag? EDIT: http://tech.yahoo.com/blogs/patterson/33343
  6. Get a new alternator. Same thing happened to my GF's old car a few months ago. I didn't go into work today because my running nose and violent sneezing from the cold weather, and, my car wouldn't start. I can get the radio and display, but I need to get a jump from my old roommate. Still waiting.
  7. Matt Herges signed with the Indians on a minor league deal Greg Zaun signed with the Orioles.
  8. What a load of misinformation. Garland turned down the Angels' offer up arbitration some time ago because he wanted to test the market. I'm betting he wishes he didn't reget that offer because he's not as attractive as AJ Burnett, CC Sabathia or even Derek Lowe.

What do you guys think of My Bloddy Valentine 3-D? Looking at the previews you have no idea what it's about as they are just hyping the 3-D effects in the theatre. It has a suprising, yet early, positive rating at RT.
  10. Juan Gonzalez was offered a huge extension while with the Tigers. Instead of 8 years, $148 million, he got 2 years, $24 million. Jody Reed: The infielder rejected a three-year, $7.8 million offer, hoping to get more on the open market. Instead, he got a minor league contract with the Brewers. To replace the departed Reed, the Dodgers traded a young Pedro Martinez to the Expos for Delino DeShields, one of the most lopsided deals in history. Nomar in 2003: He rejected a four-year, $60 million extension, as well as a four-year, $48 million offer, because he felt he deserved "A-Rod/Jeter Money." A year later, Garciaparra was traded to the Cubs, where he signed a one-year deal for 2005 worth about $8 million and is now a Dodger after signing a similar one-year contract. Miguel Cairo: Emboldened by a strong season in pinstripes (.292 average), Cairo wanted more than the Yankees' offer of $3 million for two years. The Bombers signed Tony Womack instead, and Cairo had to settle for a one-year, $900,000 contract with the Mets.
  11. Why is that so funny? There are commericials telling people to play the lotto to support public education. The lottery is yet another vice that is only in place for financial reasons that you curious didn't notice. I guess once it's legal you don't really care what others do with their money. Perhaps youd feel the same way if pot was legal.
  12. It'd be like saying we should legalize fireworks because people have access to more powerful explosives like TNT or C4.
  13. I agree. The sox should look to sign baseball players who actually get younger going into the next season.
  14. The Konerko signing is fine. For what he signed for at the time it was more than fair. Right now his contract is equal to Jose Guillen's, who was signed last offseason. Konerko showed signs of life late last year and has bounced back from a bad season before.
  15. The Sox don't really sign named free agents to multi year deals, so that says something about the Sox franchise themselves. Worst Sox free agent signing of all time (taking in all the things I said) 1. Jaime Navarro 2. ??? 3. ??? 4. ??? 5. ??? two year deal busts: Hall, Sandy Alomar Jr. ($5.5 million, including his trade to the Rockies) one year duds: Darin Erstad, Mike Jackson (all but a month) a few months or less of s***: Michael Myers, Jeff Nelson, Rick White, Kevin Walker Ths Sox are stingy with signing free agents, but they usually do a good job of picking up the right pieces.
  16. Glendon Rusch signed a minor league deal with the Rockies Chris Gomez (SS) signed a minor league deal with the O's Tubby Hall signed a minor league deal with the Astros Jerry Hairston Jr. re-signed with the Reds Marcus Giles signed a minor league deal with the Phillies Chris Woodward signed a minor league deal with the Mariners Gabe Kapler signed with the Rays Lowe needs his name scratched out Trevor Hoffman signed with the Brewers
  17. Tubby Hall sinor a minor league deal with the Astros today. How fitting is it that he signs this deal in the offseason after the Rays went to World Series. When you look at expectations, playing time, salary at his position, the personal decision he made with his shoulder, and of course his performance, he's one of the worst free agent signings in White Sox history. Good riddance.
  18. OPS+ Cameron since 2001: 123 109 108 104 114 121 103 110 Anderson: 41 65 2 81 How is Anderson a "little" worse. Cameron is also better on the basepaths and is still a solid defensive CF. The biggest knock on him would be his $10 million salary which now starting to look like a lot based on the market.
  19. What happened in 2007 with those two when they were first given an opportunity? We are the defending AL Central champs. We need to be a little competitive and not try to completely rebuild just to see what some kid might have.
  20. I also have to laugh as if there's something wrong that provides financial benefit to the ENTIRE COUNTRY. Why do you think towns set up riverboats? What does gambling have to offer society besides tax dollars to the local government? Morally I don't think it's OK to spend a great chunk of your paycheck at the slot machine, but hey, why should that be any of my god damn business what you or someone else spends their money on? People need to put their personal morals aside with political issues. While we're at, we should legalize prostitution. We are paying public officials our tax money to prosecute non-violent offenders. Why should we really care that John Doe paid $50 to be pleasured sexually yet we can pay people cash to work on our lawns or do other personal favors for us? Why can't we set up licensed spas to provide sexually pleasure? It'd create jobs and more tax dollars, less of the court's and police's time will be spend going after these folks or setting up stings, it would protect prositutes from violent crime on the street, and it can protect the customers with HIV/STD testings. Put your personal morals aside, and ask yourself if this would actually benefit society.
  21. The taxes on the pot would make millions for states and the government. The fast food industry will have more demand. Less people will abuse more addictive yet legal substances (pain relievers, alochol) in favor of a substance that gives better effects and can not be lethal directly. I honestly believe if pot was legal, there would be a good number of people who would stop drinking alcohol. A drug that physically destroys the body, causes the users to be aggressive leading to abusive behavior, and that in turn would reduce some violence and drunken driving. We've been over this before, and you try to spin the argument, but driving high is safer than driving drunk. I'm not saying I support driving high, but if we could replace all the drunk drivers in the world with stoned drivers, it'd be much safer. There would also be a lot less public urination/vomitting outside Wrigley Field, campus bar, and other places where binge drinking is part of the scene. I think society benefits from all of this.
  22. Need more baseball themed awards. Like witesoxfan once pointed out, there are more specific awards for the political board than on the baseball board. What happened to the Ozzie or KW award for armchair GM's and coaches?
  23. Nothing like bringing back familiar names to the team. Get Garland for cheap too.
  24. How many other states would execute the guy before trying to send him to the nut house?
