QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 7, 2006 -> 05:59 PM) Was it your attempt to further illustrate my point? Because you did a pretty good job of it. An instance? OK, if we are talking about the possibility that the occasional person would choose to do something rebelious to get attention, then sure. I am sure that has happened on occasion. But the idea that 10% (or more) of the population chooses a life of ridicule and hardship, so that they can get attention, is just assinine on its face. Read my original post. You are putting words in my mouth. I gave my experiences with the situation, then asked if the others here agreed with Rock that it was a choice or did they think it was innate? You have taken this way too far because clearly I was telling of my experiences, never did I claim that it is all people's reasoning. Don't read between the lines.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 09:22 PM) You think most people are gay because they are craving attention? That is one of the more ignorant things I've seen posted on this board. Seriously. You should be embarrassed. It isn't a choice. It is a trait - a base, profound personality dimension. It can be suppressed to some extent, but not removed by simply making a choice. I've seen an instance of it, so I am not embarassed for thinking that. Not every situation is the same, and it is the reason that some people do it. It really is not an ignorant comment because I have seen it happen to people I know.

This thread is so depressing. I'm gonna go make myself a chocolate/carmel sundae and drink an ice cold gatorade on the side.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 07:56 PM) Freddy giving up a dinger on a 1-2 pitch pisses me off just about as much, because that is fundamentals. He gets to 2 strikes and can put them away with his medicore heat. Last years Freddy blows them away with a 93 mph heater. Not this high 80s meat. It just pisses me off that we play "smartball" but the last three times I've seen the first two men get on, the bunt has failed. And we haven't scored in any of those innings. When you get the first two guys on you have to score.
-
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 07:53 PM) Over-reacting a bit. It's not just because of this one instance.

Missed fundamental plays like that piss me off more than Freddy giving up two dongers in an inning. Unacceptable Cintron you piece of trash.

Indianapolis lands Big Ten tourney
whitesoxin' replied to greasywheels121's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Conference tourneys for the major conferences are a joke anyways IMO. It means nothing for most of the teams, and only the bubble teams need to do well. Mid-major conference tourneys are where it's at. -
Can somebody explain to me why somebody would want to be gay? In my experiences, it seems to be people craving attention. Any attention is good attention to somebody who is craving it. Do most of you agree with Rock that it is a choice, or do you believe that it is an innate behavior? The only logical thing that I have heard is "God's way of stopping over population", but don't all boys in middle school have raging hormones for the females? Even the gay guys that I know from my high school were straight in middle school and "liked" girls.

I've got a good feeling going into this series. 2 of 3 at least is my prediction.

Maybe the third time is a charm with Griffey rumors??

The Sox players are having babies like crazy. Well their wives are the ones actually giving birth, but still.

It's interesting to see this so close. I have always used ace in terms of getting an A+ on a test, but apparently my friend who said it meant A and fired all of this up in class was right...in a way. I'm still only going to use it in terms of me getting and A+.

2006 White Sox Catch-All Thread

Why is this unpinned? I think this is a great thread, I enjoy reading it. -
QUOTE(ChiSoxLifer @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 04:16 PM) I'll have to disagree with that poster who said "I don't go around marching in Straight Pride Parades and putting Straight Pride bumper stickers on my car, so why should they?" When was the last time you heard of a person disowned by their family for being straight? When was the last time a person was beaten up for being a heterosexual? People are not harassed and beaten because they are heterosexual. When was the last time someone told you "Quit acting straight you hetero!" ? So how does this validate their marching in gay pride parades and putting bumper stickers on their cars?
-
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 6, 2006 -> 01:54 PM) Not really. I wouldnt want to be in the same lockerroom as gay players either. I do not agree with the choice of homosexuality. That's how I feel, kind of. I see no point in being gay, and most of the gay people I have encountered have been the open kind who are proud of their sexuality. I don't go around marching in Straight Pride Parades and putting Straight Pride bumper stickers on my car, so why should they? I do accept the theory that God created homosexuals to prevent overpopulation though, so that is why I said "kind of" earlier. It might not be as much of a choice as people think it is, but it is a choice when they are bold about it. And how many of you men here can say you would openly embrace a gay guy onto your team and into your showers? Just don't drop the soap.. There are so many "manly" things that go on in a locker room full of men, even in the middle and high school sports that I have been a participant in.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 5, 2006 -> 03:29 PM) The Kennedy is a mile and a half away, and the Ike is less than a mile away?!?!? Conseco is just as far off of the interstates as the UC. As for hotels, downtown Chicago is about 2-3 miles away depending on if you are talking about Michigan Abe or the west loop. Conseco is right in the middle of downtown. But then again, everything in Indy is "close" to each other compared to Chicago. -
Pujols, Ben Sheets, AJ Burnett, and Mike Sweeney are all injured on my soxtalk fantasy team. Somehow I'm in third, but it's going to be rough without those guys.

Indianapolis lands Big Ten tourney
whitesoxin' replied to greasywheels121's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
The teams would be more low key and less distracted in Indy. I'm guessing that's one of the factors in the coaches mind. Now this could be a factor in my college choice between Butler and DePaul -
This was the debate in one of my classes today. When I say I aced a test, I mean A+ 100%.
-
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 4, 2006 -> 09:50 PM) You're a junior, right? Any thoughts of where you're looking to go next year? DePaul, Butler, Wabash or IU are the four I've narrowed it down to. IU is just a fall-back option in case I decide that none of the other schools are for me. DePaul is my top choice right now because I love the city, but Butler was a really nice campus too. Being around guys the entire time at Wabash might be rough, but it's a pretty decent school and their percentage of graduates that get jobs after going there is something like 99%.
