QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Jul 1, 2006 -> 11:35 AM) My 2006 A.L. All-Star Team Starters (based on most recent voting): C- Jason Varitek, Red Sox 1B- David Ortiz, Red Sox 2B- Robinson Cano, Yankees (will be replaced by Tadahito Iguchi, White Sox) 3B- Alex Rodriguez, Yankees SS- Derek Jeter, Yankees LF- Manny Ramirez, Red Sox CF- Ichiro Suzuki, Mariners RF- Vladimir Guerrero, Angels Reserves: 1B- Travis Hafner, Indians 1B- Jim Thome, White Sox 2B- Jose Lopez, Mariners 2B- Ronnie Belliard, Indians Paul Konerko ***.315 19 hr 61 rbis can't be left off an all-star team, no bias here. let a shortstop play 2nd base with gooch and lopez*** 3B- Joe Crede, White Sox 3B- Melvin Mora, Orioles Hank Blalock (Chavez could also be here, but a poor BA won't help. If Chavez makes it, then Zito would get the boot to make room for Kazmir) SS- Miguel Tejada, Orioles SS- Michael Young , Rangers OF- Carl Crawford, Tampa Bay OF- Vernon Wells, Blue Jays **add** OF- Alex Rios, Blue Jays (might replace Vernon who left last night's game with an injury) OF- Jermaine Dye, White Sox C- Joe Mauer, Min. Twins C- AJ Pierzynski, Chicago White Sox SP- Kenny Rogers, Tigers SP- Justin Verlander, Tigers SP- Roy Halladay, Blue Jays SP- Barry Zito, A's SP- Jeremy Bonderman, Tigers Jose Contreras SP- Ervin Santana, ANgels Johan Santana SP- Mark Redman, Royals Mark Buehrle RP- Jonathan Papelbon, Red Spx RP- B.J. Ryan, Blue Jays RP- Bobby Jenks, White Sox *** Kazmir should be the representative from Tampa, I don't know who should get the boot. Buehrle or Zito would be the guys I would get rid of *** *** If these three guys aren't the 3 relief pitchers, there are going to be some problems. Clearly the three best closers in the AL *** Team Breakdown: Red Sox: 4 Yankees: 3 Blue Jays: 4 Orioles: 1 Devil Rays: 2 Tigers: 2 White Sox: 7 They are actually all deserving, Gooch and AJ are lucky that their postions are weak this year. Twins: 2 Indians: 0 Ok maybe Belliard should be there. Royals: 0 The rule sucks anyways, right? A's: 1 Rangers: 2 Mariners: 2 Angels: 1

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 30, 2006 -> 04:38 PM) Brian Anderson was the ace of the Royals staff for a time there, hard not to notice him. I remember he was actually half way decent in Arizona too, I believe he's been around for like 13 years now. Terribly sorry I didn't notice an "ace" on the Royals staff and a halfway decent pitcher in the desert. He has had only one season with over 100 K's, 82-83 in his career, pitched 200 innings only once in his career...when I was 10, and a career ERA around 5. Not the most noticable guy in the league. -

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 30, 2006 -> 04:32 PM) Yes, he's pitched in our division from like 03-05 or something like that. Well I never noticed him, and it was the first result when I googled "Brian Anderson" to look at his stats. -

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 30, 2006 -> 02:05 PM) I'd probably rather have Marshall right now than Garland. Marshall at least shows some decent stuff. Garland seems to have pulled an NBA player type move after getting his big contract. -

Can B-Mac be worse than this for a few starts? Garland just needs a kick in the ass to get going. -

Cubs fans don't know baseball. They barely even cheered when they got Crede out on a pop-up. That was a huge out. Make it hurt Juan! -

QUOTE(valponick @ Jun 30, 2006 -> 11:51 AM) No, the word first appeared in the Dr. Seuss book "Marvin K. Mooney will you please go now!" That's all I was saying, I know how all the retards today use it. You're right. I hate it when "retards" say it too.

I just saw this on Yahoo. Wow, another tragedy strikes the Northwestern football program.

QUOTE(Yoda @ Jun 29, 2006 -> 09:06 PM) I might go see it this weekend. What's funny is that before I used to pay for a lot of 1hr 30min films and now I've been seeing a lot of 2hr+ movies. Is Superman's length time too much, for those that have seen it??? It's way too long. I thought it was a terrible movie, but then again it's probably because I don't care for action/superhero movies and wasn't paying close attention to the movie.

Very sad. My thoughts are with the family. Stories like this break my heart. Innocent kids should not die.

Is Indiana the only place to buy them? I need to go get me some.
-
I wouldn't mind that. I remember he killed us with the Twins IIRC and pushed Beuhrle around in the infamous Jaime Burke game.
-
Wow I just got home and watched the tivod game. Hawk and DJ got dominated by Sanchez, the first pitch after they were mocking him for not hitting the ball hard and just getting jammed on the hands, he hits a walk-off homer. If Pods were superman, he could have caught that ball.

So I woke up and turn on the tv with it being 2-0 and runners on first and second....and nobody scores.

Dodgers, Gibson's home run. -
As you obviously know, our division has been on fire of late. On June 11, here were the standings.. Detroit -- Chicago .5 Twins 11.5 Since then, here's the teams' records.. Detroit 15-2 Chicago 13-3 Twins 15-1 And now the standings.. Detroit -- Chicago 2 Twins 11 43-6 is the combined record of the 3 teams. That is amazing. I can't imagine how big of a story this would be on ESPN if it was the Yanks, Sawx, and Jays in a race like this. It's going to be a fun summer, hopefully we have competition like this all year. Oh yeah, and we are 6.5 games up on the Wild Card....IN JUNE!
