QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 02:15 PM) thats what i said, his era is 4.82, he was good in the nl. guess what, the nl f'n sux. i would still trade javy for beckett though, not that its gunna happen. Do you think the Red Sox are happy that their #2 starter has an ERA quickly approaching 5? People need to realize how spoiled we became last year with the pitching. Like I said with Garland all year, there was no way he was going to pitch like he did for the first 2 or 3 months of the season all year long, and now he is coming around. Freddy won't come around until he wants to, and it seems like Vaz is the same way. Down the stretch, I would be shocked if they continue to be mediocre pitchers with 5 ERAs.

The Cell is pretty loud right now after Thome's homer ties the game. The loudest sporting event I've ever been to is the regional championship game for my HS basketball team. Our student section was probably 1,000 kids which is half the school, and when a trey tied it, we all went absolutely nuts, it was amazing. I was screaming at the top of my lungs and couldn't even come close to hearing myself. The loudest it has been at the Cell was when Gooch hit the game tying grand slam against the Astros.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 01:46 PM) NO! We're more than halfway through the f***ing season. Two guys with ERA's in the 4's, two guys with ERA's in the 5's (maybe 3 after today). They're not getting better. At what point can we f***ing worry?! Whoa calm down. I think I'm going to leave this thread now because it is too depressing.

Jermaine-f***ing-Dye. Shut up about our staff, we'll be fine.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 01:36 PM) I wish I had a dollar for every time I heard that exact same statement made last year. Is there anyone who didn't think that?

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 01:01 AM) The sad thing is he took BA out for Pods and Pablo out for Mack. Then the very next inning Pods pulled his, I suddenly dont know how to catch fly balls routine. I dont care if Pods cant catch the diving ball in the corner. But fly balls that he has time to settle under, he should catch. That is a mental mistake, physical mistakes happen, mental mistakes are poor focus. I hope Ozzie keeps BA in over the next two games. You know how itchy he is with right handers with good stuff. He gets into that we need X amount of left handers. BA has a history of hitting toolsy righties. You think Ozuna would have made that catch? Not that it's a good excuse, but even if Pods made the catch, it wouldn't have mattered. BTW, Politee sucks.

Cubs fans only because they live around here. I'm sure if I lived out east it would be different, but around here Cubs fans are everywhere. Luckily they have stfu this year.

I just play cash games with my friends.

QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 12:55 AM) Cheap ass.. We're talking about BA here. Come play some poker with me and then we'll see who the cheap ass is

QUOTE(spiffalicious @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 12:55 AM) I had a Red Sox fan next to me who had no clue where the score board was, just learned today that Fisk played for the White Sox, and thought that South Paw was named "Green Monster." That's right, we have a different mascot honoring every team we play. Her husband must have been blind or something because she would get up to cheer and he would ask what happened. She starts screaming because Crisp hit a home run and he's like "oh, did that go out?" Morons. What a dumbass. Both of them.

QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jul 8, 2006 -> 12:46 AM) I was pissed that Ozzie took him out in the 8th for a pinch hitter. We need mo BA! I actually made a bet with my friend at the game that BA would hit a homer in his second AB today. If BA did it, I would win $10. If he didn't, I gave my friend 50 cents. It turns out he lined out to second and I lost 50 cents. This bet was made before the game started because I was that confident in him.

Luckily for me I went to two games this week, and Widge started both. It was also our only two losses this week. f*** Widge, he blows.

Tonight I experienced both ends of the Red Sox spectrum. First you had the drunken 21 year old who stood up, looked back, and taunted all the White Sox fans around the entire game, basically anytime the Red Sox got a hit or the Sox GIDP or struck out. He was a tool and security should have taken him out because towards the end of the game people started throwing things at him and families of White Sox fans were getting hit with the peanuts and cups instead of the douchebag. Then there was a quiet, friendly couple in front of us who were very respectful. They cheered for the Red Sox, but did it without making a scene and being arrogent pricks. Most of the "Sawx" fans were annoying and obnoxious though. It seems like a cult following. Kind of weird if you ask me.

I'm putting my 1-3 record at the park this year on the line. I'm really hoping that I don't move to 1-4 on the year. -
QUOTE(beautox @ Jul 7, 2006 -> 09:14 AM) Personally I think Hawks best call so far this season was on 05/22/06 when Rob Mackowiak had a pinch hit HR off Houston Street, the way he says "way back" it sounds like hes having a heart attack, and I laugh every time, you can watch it here. Its listed at 05/23/06 on the site. I was at that game, so I'm biased to say it is one of my favorites. There are wayyy too many to pick from, there have been some GREAT games this year. We have one hell of an exciting team.

Did you guys see Aramis making the first out of the inning at third while trying to turn a double into a triple? The funny part is that he watched the ball and did a mini home run jig, then jogged down to first and finally decided to stop jogging after he rounded first. That is why the Cubs are worthless.

I'm pretty much done with Javier Vazquez.

9-4 is not a bad record. Just saying. Sox are playing great and our number five starter is 9-4. Look at it that way. Do you remember Danny Wright? How about Schoenweis? Josh Stewert? Who do you like as your NUMBER FIVE starter? -
QUOTE(AbeFroman @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 05:22 PM) the St. Paul Tribune was reporting on their website at 1:00 that Liriano had the lead over A.J.... MLB.com was reporting AJ in the lead at 4 pm.

GAME THREAD 7-6-06 SOX vs Orioles
whitesoxin' replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in 2006 Season in Review
Wasn't he the pitcher when we scored 10 runs in an inning last year? Two of the D-Backs starters from last year facing off tonight, but massively underachieving compared to their old standards. -
There's no way my votes still count, is there?

I'm still going googogogogoogogog

Are the polls still open for everyone else?
