When I was 15, I washed dishes. When I was 16, I worked in a kitchen. When I've been 17 and 18, I've worked at DQ. This summer I've also worked with an independant construction business making good money and parking cars at the county fair. I would say DQ is/was my best job because I work with all my friends and I became a manager this June so I make more money and do more supervising than making ice cream treats.

Don't know if anyone posted this in the thread, but 10-1 3.20 era in Garlands last 12 starts.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 20, 2006 -> 05:05 PM) The White Sox pitching has been brutal the last month or so, definitely one of the worst performances in the league. Average pitching staffs don't win world championships unfortunately. The White Sox lost 3 in a row to the Yankees at one point this season as well. That happened during our worst stretch of the year, however. The Yankees were going about their business as usual when they came to Chicago. I'm not saying it's ok, but the Devil Rays could have swept us at that point in the season.

We didn't hit our stride until the final 5 games of the season last year. Seeing as how we have 39 games left, I am not too worried yet. If we lose 3 of 4 or all 4 in Detroit then I will start to worry. There's still a lot of time left and if the season ended today, we would be in the playoffs. The two teams behind us? One of them lost the best pitcher in the AL for the rest of the season. The other team has been dominated three games in a row at home to the Yankees whom we beat 2 of 3 just over a week ago. Step off the ledge..

QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Aug 16, 2006 -> 12:09 AM) I wanna say Vlad got thrown at 3 times. I don't know why the Angels didnt retaliate. Cubs and Astros deadlocked at 6 in the bottom of the 16th right now. Sean Tracey must have been pitching for them tonight. Top of 17 now, still 6-6. What is with the Astros and massively long games?

Padilla was at it again tonight for the Rangers. Throw at Vlad's chin, Vlad hit a 3 run donger to break a 3-3 tie and later in the inning Padilla plunked an Angels hitter and was ejected along with Showalter.

QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Aug 15, 2006 -> 02:14 PM) I think she owe's you a little "thank you" () for protecting her. Don't worry I got the "thank you". I really helped my cause when some random little kid walked up to me and asked if he could have the ball, but I said no I was giving it to my girlfriend.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Aug 15, 2006 -> 10:45 AM) i guess because the DS is more likely? but id never take the 1 DS over two CS... must be a typo. It has to be, but maybe since the CS is a 7 game series that means more games are available? -
One thing I forgot to mention about last night...right after I caught the foul ball I looked down and found a dollar bill sitting underneath my seat. I had a pretty lucky night at the ballpark.

QUOTE(SoxPride56 @ Aug 15, 2006 -> 09:50 AM) The Ozzie game plan goes like this: either you get 1 ALDS game or 2 ALCS games. That makes no sense at all. -
QUOTE(wsox08 @ Aug 15, 2006 -> 12:18 AM) Of course I've gotten a lot of batting practice balls. I remember catching a Torii Hunter ball in the outfield bare handed and it left a mark of the laces. Besides that I have gotten about five other batting practice balls. BP always has a lot of screamers into the bleachers. A few years back when Jermaine was on the Royals he ripped one right by me and as I was scrambling to get it, he nailed another one and we all lost it in the sun and the ball ended up hitting an elderly man in the face and broke his glasses. Somehow he was okay and stayed for the game. It was a scary moment. Before 7 o'clock games the sun is brutal in left-field.

QUOTE(SoxAce @ Aug 15, 2006 -> 12:05 AM) I'll say this. This means that Frank Thomas has done it as well since he and Rowand worked out together ALOT during the off-season when they were teammates. Frank Thomas was never on steroids. Ever. SEC Tight Ends usually do not need to get stronger. Aaron Rowand was never on steroids either. Don't even suspect it.

So tonight I caught my first foul ball. I was in section 146 and bare handed a foul liner off the bat of Mark Teahan. It was fun high fiving everyone and letting people feel the ball. The ball was right on path to hitting my girlfriend as she assumed a fetal position and closed her eyes, so luckily I was able to reach around her and catch it. I had previously gotten a ball in Tuscon, but that was from the Rockies bullpen catcher after I told him I'd give him my smoothy if he gave me a ball. Does anyone else have a story about catching a foulball/homerun? Did you give it to a little kid or did you keep it for yourself? Was it off a ricochet or in the air?

I want him to say "There's a timeout....(WHERE?)...on the field...(OHHH!!)"
-
I'm hoping for either to take 2 of 3. No sweep and we're most likely gaining ground on both.

Looking around on Ticketmaster, Thursday is still far from a sellout. You can get 20 seats in a row in section 524 row 16.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Aug 14, 2006 -> 12:56 PM) Those 6 games in MIN should worry everyone. The only team that I'm worried about is the Chicago White Sox. We can beat anyone when we play like we can.

I'm putting my 1-5 record on the line at the park tomorrow night. YIKES. In every game I've been to this year either Widger or Vazquez has started though, so it's not my fault. As someone said earlier, I expect the atmosphere at the game tomorrow night to be great. I know I'll be cheering early and often as usual and I expect everyone else to be doing the same. Hopefully we have better cheers than "Let's go White Sox clap-clap-clapclapclap" That cheer gets annoying.

QUOTE(SouthsideNorthsideFan @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 11:30 PM) looks smokin' in the moose pic, kinda, eh, here: Wow what a difference the lack of a moose, addition of clothing, and insertion (no pun intended) of Paul Lo Duca do to that chick. That being said, was that moose holding a pimp hat in the first picture??

QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Aug 13, 2006 -> 11:49 PM) hell yea that chick is fine.... Well the call came and she basically lied saying everything was ok, i asked if she promised, she said yea... I could tell she was lieing.... i really wanna talk in person but i doubt it happens because she wont have the balls to tell me in person... its gonna all come out on the phone tomorrow.... things i should say and more advice is appreciated. How do you know she's on the verge of breaking up with you? Did one of her friends tell you? Maybe the person who told you this made up a lie because they were jealous she was spending time with you or the person wants your cock. If it didn't come from her, it might not be true. Just confront her with what you've been informed upon and talk through it. Definitely do it in person, just go to her house tomorrow or something.
-
I've seen your myspace, gone, and that chick is fine haha. If you just want to be with her through high school, what is the point? If she's not in your plans for the future, why let her weigh you down right now? My situation with my girlfriend is different than yours. We've been going out for over a year we no longer are dependent on each other, try to impress each other, ect. It's like we're best friends and of course with benefits. We took a break after 8 months or so because it was becoming too overbearing of a relationship. That made us realize that we needed to become more independant. I don't know what the point of telling you my situation was, but maybe you got something out of it, but like I said, if she's not in your plans for the future don't bother with it.

Thank you KW for getting Thornton for Blow Borchard. He's my favorite reliever outside of Jenks. -
We win tomorrow and we win this division

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 12, 2006 -> 03:53 PM) Tomorrow is a completely HUGE game. Winning 2/3 and gaining only 1 game on Det, nothing. Sweeping and gaining 3 games=right back in the division. HUGE GAME We would gain 4.5 games in 6 days, that would be awesome. Time for Freddy to throw just like he did last time against the Tigers at the Cell. -
mlb.com says we pulled ahead with a sucessful squeez by Sandy Alomar Jr. in the 7th. "White Sox squeeze into lead" is the headline.

World Trade Center was a decent movie. They did a good job of not disrespecting the event by making money off of 9-11 itself. The movie is more about 2 men's experience then it was about the tragedy. It is a sad movie obviously, so if you enjoy paying to be saddened go see it.
