California set to execute Michael Morales
NUKE_CLEVELAND replied to minors's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Feb 19, 2006 -> 01:23 AM) What I meant is WSF99 opposed the death penalty, yet cited his support for the prisoners to deal with the issue. Which shows, as I interpret it, the need for certain people to die because of their crimes. I gathered that from reading it but I felt that question by itself was worth an answer. -

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Feb 19, 2006 -> 01:07 AM) You would support a child rapist/murderer being beaten to death within a prison, opposed to a quick and painless execution? I dont mean to cherry pick your post but I sure as hell would. If the state doesn't have the balls to do it then maybe the other sodomites in jail can do it for us. -
QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Feb 19, 2006 -> 01:02 AM) You would be better off just buying a PC if that was the case. My Compaq laptop cost about that much. That would be a much better use of the money.

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Feb 18, 2006 -> 07:41 PM) yeah 400-500 has to be the max they would be insane to sell it for 900. People just cant afford to drop 900 bucks for a video game system. A lot of people who could afford it would probably decide it wasn't worth it as well.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 18, 2006 -> 03:52 PM) I was actually considering getting a new system to replace the old Super Nintendo (yes you read that right) Damn dude! You have an 8 track player as your sound system?

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 05:55 PM) 11 people killed along with a high number of injuries during a protest at an Italian embassy in Lybia. Savages. -
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 03:05 PM) Unbelieveable the things you can say if your black. And of course, some would say we are racist for saying Gumbel is racist... Bryant Gumbel has been a hypocritical douche for as long as I can remember. How he still has employment after all the comments hes made is a testament to the hypocrasy of the media when it comes to race.

QUOTE(minors @ Feb 19, 2006 -> 12:35 AM) But it is ok if they serve life??? I mean these thugs get 20 years worth appeals some get more than that, and with the priority capital cases get today if they can't find some evidence in 20+ years they never will. It just makes no sense to me at all to warehouse a s***bag like this for all those years. Society clearly doesn't want him to ever see the light of day again so just kill him and be done with it. -

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 08:54 PM) The cartoonist should go in hiding with Salman Rushdie. He's evaded death for 10+ years. Maybe Salman Rudshie is the author of the cartoons? That guy is one of my heros. -

QUOTE(minors @ Feb 19, 2006 -> 12:15 AM) In murder cases where the crime is so harsh then yes the DP is the only way. The chance is to great for him getting out. Even it means he has 1% chance that is 1% to much You're all over it dude. Nothing more needs to be added here. -

QUOTE(minors @ Feb 18, 2006 -> 11:27 AM) One thing I agree with you on is the punishment. The Punishment Morales will get is far less than what he deserves, The state should strangle him with a belt, take a hammer to his skull 23 times, drag him face down for 20 feet and stab him in the chest 4 times. Then he will know how it felt. Serving life in prison is nothing to this thug we need to start making these thugs pay for their actions, not slap them on the wrists like some group of people want to do then wonder why it doens't work. ^^^^^ -

QUOTE(Texsox @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 11:10 AM) I guess you don't have a problem with the President authorizing illegal activities that would violate US and International Law? We've been doing targeted killings of terrorists ever since 9/11. I guess the prerequisite for doing some necessary dirty work is losing 3000 of your own citizens in a single attack huh?

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 16, 2006 -> 07:08 PM) Bush's budget this year proposes the smallest increase in military pay since 1994. Link. This is my first, and probably only, post in this thread but I felt I had something to add. All service members, in addition to budgeted raises, get automatic pay hikes when they reach certain levels of time in service. You get a hike at 2,3,4 years then every other year until you're done unless you sit at the same rank for too long then your pay for that grade will cap out. Using myself as an example, Im currently a Staff Sergeant and approaching my 8 year anniversery. Once I hit it ( September 1st of this year ) my base pay will go from 2465 a month to 2685 ( a hike of 8.9% ). Not included are the tax-free allowances for food and housing which amount to roughly 1000 a month for my area. Point of all that number crunching is that the pay hikes proposed in the budget are not the only time we get a raise.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 10:44 AM) An event which, according to the 911 commission, never happened. And furthermore, the Sudan certainly never held him "In custody". The Sudanese government helped him find safe transit to Afghanistan after they decided it was hurting their country having him in their borders and the Saudis refused to pardon him and accept him back. http://www.washingtonpost.com/ac2/wp-dyn?p...A61251-2001Oct2 This is actually how it went down. You guys love to point out how Bush let the Afghan warlords chase Bin Laden in 2002 but here we have Clinton trying to outsource the problem to the Saudis in 1996. HAH! Why not just kill the bastard and be done with it!? This is why people trust Republicans to handle security affairs more than Democrats. While they dithered around splitting hairs over legal technicalities Bush would have simply scooped him up and eliminated him.........either that or whacked him with a Predator Drone.

QUOTE(samclemens @ Feb 17, 2006 -> 10:35 AM) oh so when Sudan had bin laden in custody and offered him to the clinton admin. and clinton personally turned down the offer, that was the republican congress' fault? I guess it was also their fault that when the CIA had a fix on his location and was ready to pull the trigger they were told no by Clinton Administration lawyers.
