  1. Yeah, so when he rejects the offer then KW and JR can get on TV all glum and consoling each other and we can listen to them whine about how they "tried" and how "it was a fair offer".
  2. Wow. I guess you can call him the "King of Swing.....and a miss".
  3. I dont care if we overpay a little to get Clement in here. IMHO he's the best of teh FA pitchers still available for us and I REALLY want to see him in a Sox uniform. Time to use some of that left over Carlos Lee cash.
  4. He probably is but after having picked up a nice chunk of salary room by trading Lee I think we're well positioned to land one of the 3 starters everyone's talking about around here. There's no excuse anymore for not signing one of em.
  5. I can think of 2 different times he K'ed 7 times in a row. He was Fugly at the plate.
  6. If you think KW is going to sign Clement/Perez AND trade for Johnson I want some of whatever it is you're smoking. By itself the Johnson deal hurts the team far more than it helps ( beating a dead horse here but its worth repeating since people wont shut up about this ). By itself signing Clement/Perez/Lowe rounds out our rotation nicely without having to trade away Konerko's production and sets us up to be the odds on favorite to win the division and probably make some noise in the playoffs.
  7. You mean that offense that scored 10 runs one day then got shut out the next 2? I think a consistent offense would win you a lot more fans.
  8. Never minded him at the plate? What'd he hit last season like .220 something last season with a zillion K's? Ugh. Juan Uribe is an upgrade over Valentin in every facet of the game on both sides of the plate.
  9. This is exhibit A when it comes to greed destroying something really good. I really think that these are the end times for the NHL. It was losing interest to begin with but now nobody really gives a damn anymore. If and when it does come back with scabs nobody will go.
  10. Tell that to the Marlins and their 60 something mil payroll from 2 seasons ago.
  11. Defenitely a success. Adding speed on the basepaths is certainly a plus and so is strengthening the pen but the biggest hole in this team is still in the starting 5 and if they don't address this problem I will consider this offseason a failure.
  12. No way. Starting pitching has got to be the overriding priority now. I will not be satisfied with this offseason until they acquire a quality starter to round out the rotation. All the moves made so far will be for naught if we're spinning the roulette wheel every 5th game to see who starts.
  13. That home run was the pinnacle of his MLB career. Book it.
  14. Frank Thomas is many things but there are many things he is not. Among them are: Clubhouse cancer, overbearing hot dog, last of the roid freaks who still wont admit it. Give me a f***ing break. I really begin to doubt that knowing anything about baseball is a prerequisite to being a sports commentator.
  15. Jesus. Every time I hear that name I get sick to my stomach. Especially when remembering how washed up Roger Clemens was back in 1996. :puke
  16. I bet Seattle is glad we talked them out of taking this stiff.
  17. Agreed. Nobody saw this trade coming and BANG here it is. I think KW learned his lesson about leaving the 5th starter spot to chance like he did last season.
  18. Agreed 100% Now go get Clement.
  19. Even if it means overpaying a little for him they need to get this guy.
  20. Thats at the heart of the matter with the Sox. Without one more solid starter to cement a good starting 5 then nothing else they do in the off season will matter a whole lot.
  21. I seem to remember Jordan having a gambling problem for a while but that was the extent of it. I also remember Kobe winning a few titles as well but that hasn't stopped people from rightfully criticizing him for his off-court behaivior.
  22. How can you do that??? HOW! Dont you realize that trial lawyers can raise your kids better than their parents can!? I say we should have one in every home to act as an oversight and make sure that parents follow the constitution.
