  1. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Apr 30, 2006 -> 02:02 PM) I hope Jon doesn't hit anyone, he has enough problems keeping people off base How about he hit someone...........then grab his balls and get the next 3 outs!?

  4. QUOTE(rventura23 @ Apr 29, 2006 -> 03:53 PM) SI has photo gallery of more memorable home runs in MLB Pods listed no Paulie Slam, although I thought that was more memorable link What made that memorable for me is the announcers saying that Lidge had just gotten the taste of Pujols out of his mouth ( from that moonshot that pujols hit off him that still hasnt landed ) an instant before Pods launched his shot. That was a great moment in Sox history for me.

  6. QUOTE(Spod=Ratings @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 09:04 PM) Just reported on ESPN Favre will play 2006 and it will be his final year. BAH! Theres nothing worse in the world than a great athelete who just won't quit when he knows he's done for. About the only guy I recall who went out on top was Elway.
  7. QUOTE(BoKnows @ Apr 27, 2006 -> 11:02 PM) Agreed, GnR do not fit the mold of hair band. Outside of the video for Welcome to the Jungle, you don't see the guys with "big hair" Van Halen never teased their hair, they just had bad hair. Hair bands that I think are missing from this list: Poison Europe Cinderella Dokken My vote would be for Poison. Big Hair and Bad Metal Poison was a bad oversight on my part. Cinderella was alright at best and Dokken had some quality stuff.

  10. QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 27, 2006 -> 09:52 PM) Nuke, a while back there was some initiative to change the law to instant citizenship for getting wounded, instead of having to die, did that ever get passed? I think my Congressman was one of the sponsors of the bill and I didn't see it on his web site. You got me on that one. I heard about the same thing but I lost track of what happened to it. Personally, I think as long as a person has a clean background if they want to join our military and are fully capable then they should be awarded citizenship.
  11. I was listening to the Hair Nation channel on my SIRIUS in the car today and it prompted me to make this poll. I want to see what the other 80's kids around here were thinking.
  12. QUOTE(Texsox @ Apr 27, 2006 -> 02:07 PM) I don't see this stuff as helping the immigration cause. What would be better is if no one showed up, with the explaination, we were all *working* like we've been telling you. To the militant protester, I'm sorry, I believe that US policies caused a situation that is unfair to a lot of people. Let us fix the problem, and we'll help you out. But intimidate us and act ungrateful? I start to get a little upset. When they lose support from folks like me, they are taking a giant step backwards. ^^^^ And indeed many organizers are fearful of a backlash from white America. Its coming.
  13. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Apr 27, 2006 -> 09:27 AM) Great timing. This conjoined protest happens to fall on the one occasion I'm obligated to drive downtown. This is going to be brutal. Last protest rally Harrison and Halsted were virtually deadlocked. Traffic is already tight with the Dan Ryan reconstruction--this can't possibly help. I'm seriously consider leaving my house four hours before my finals begin. Afterwards, I have to attend a work-related clinic. I'll leave school two hours before this is scheduled as well. My advice to you and anyone else that has to be downtown that day is take a train. Driving into that mess is not terribly smart.
  14. QUOTE(juddling @ Apr 27, 2006 -> 04:30 PM) Maybe they are trying to get that elusive LaCrosse scholarship from Duke LOL!!!!! Dude, thats just sooooooooooooo wrong. LOL!!!!
  15. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Apr 27, 2006 -> 04:04 PM) Every crime is a hate crime. Throw the book at em. ^^^^^ ^^^^^ ^^^^^ I don't believe in attaching special penalties because a crime may have been racially motivated. It shouldn't matter whether the attack was motivated by genuine hatred or if it was random, the penalties should be uniform. That being said, hopefully these 2 jackasses get a taste of their own medicine when they get to the pokey.
  16. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 27, 2006 -> 08:14 PM) Interestingly, it looks like the Bush Administration is going to try to prevent a large group of people from doing exactly that. Balta and Kap. There are laws on the books which prevent persons entrusted with classified information from disclosing said information for a very long period of time. Something like 10 years or so if memory serves.
  17. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Apr 27, 2006 -> 02:09 PM) Because you don't need to know everything? What good is it to know that we have detention centers for terrorists? What would it change? If we get information from these people, it's worth it, and it SHOULD be COVERT. ^^^ There are some people who hate the Bush Administration so much that they will let nothing stand in the way of them landing some sort of blow against it. Problem with that is that in this case the person in question is charged with protecting classified secrets which are vital to national security. When you're in the employ of the government and entrusted with its secrets, even if you don't like whats happening, it is your duty to protect those secrets. Your political views should not interfere with you doing what you are sworn to do. In this case it clearly did and she should be punished to the fullest extent of the law.
  18. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Apr 27, 2006 -> 03:55 PM) Actually, unleaded gas is on a futures market as well. The price of crude only factors into the price of unleaded gas by about 25% im told. So wouldn't an oil holding company who has a refinery be profiting twice by monopolizing its production (i.e. selling oil to its refinery arm who therefore increases the price of gas and jacks it up further despite the fact that net costs never actually increased to produce either the oil or gas - but more the demand for the oil adjusted the price upwards?) I think the fact that the major oil firms are vertically integrated like that is one reason why gas is so expensive but not nearly the only one. Truth of the matter is, people who can afford higher gas prices are screwing over those who cannot. The Suburban person who drives 2 blocks to get a gallon of milk or other minor errands all the time is helping drive up prices with unnecessary consumption. That makes it hard for Joe Blow who has trouble making ends meet to even afford to drive to work. Those who are angry about high gas prices should focus their ire not on the government, which can't do much about the situation, but on owners of gas slurping SUV's.
  19. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 27, 2006 -> 08:37 PM) Wow, helping out Nuke, this is almost Fun. Wow! Working together with Balta?! Say it aint so! I hadn't read the article you quoted but they were talking about it at length on Fox News earlier this evening.
  20. QUOTE(Mplssoxfan @ Apr 27, 2006 -> 10:47 AM) There definitely should be wind farms of the coast of Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard, and the Mass dems in Congress and the rest of the NIMBYs are selfish fools for opposing them. We should also have oil rigs off the coast of Florida, but for tourism-related reasons, the Governor of Florida, among other Floridians, doesn't want them there. What's the Governor's name again? I forget. Whats even better is the Chinese are drilling for oil just outside US territorial waters in that area. I guess if we dont want to drill for the oil the Chinese would be happy to take it all instead. :rolly
  21. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Apr 27, 2006 -> 03:52 PM) "Why would you hold a Mexican flag when you are trying to tell America that you love this country..... It's like coming to my house, crapping on the table and then asking 'What are you cooking next?'" - Carlos Mencia ^^^^ These Mexican separatists are a bunch of idiots.
  22. QUOTE(Whitewashed in '05 @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 10:57 PM) Good game by Javy and the O! Lets start another winning streak damnit! Just the beginning of another 8 game winning streak.
  23. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 02:58 PM) Of course, you've missed 1 small step there...you would need to immediately replace every single car in this country with a car built to the new standards in order to say "problem solved". While this would be good for Detroit and Toyota, it might not be that great for most taxpayers. I dont know dude. The way things are going its almost as expensive to buy a tank of gas as it is to buy a whole new car. LOL!
  24. Back in the 70's Brazil made a big push to eliminate the need for oil. They required automakers and the like to start shifting over to renewable fuels and now they are totally oil independent. They actually produce more oil domestically than they need. We need to get on that this very instant. About the only thing I dislike more than hearing people complain about gas prices is that we get most of our oil from parts of the world that are really bad neighborhoods.
