  1. I agree with JimH. June 21st seems like the perfect time to call him up. That is if Rowand keeps struggling. If he gets it together then a September call up is in order.
  2. I agree with you. Keep Willie and Uribe at the top of the order and see what happens. The only thing that I agree with others on is that we need Valentin's lefty bat. Our line-up is too right handed dominant. Unless we can trade Konerko and get a lefty 1B and call up Reed to play CF I don't see this changing anytime soon.
  3. This guy seems to be playing very well of late. Really good defense and is finally getting on base. His numbers in the last 11 games: 40 AB 17 H 3 R 0 HR 4 RBI 1 SB 5 BB .425 AVG .478 OBP .500 SLG I would like to see more runs scored from our leadoff hitter, but I don't think that could be held against him as others behind him have to do their job in order for him to score. His average is now up to .301 for the year. Is he not better than what we could have had in Roberto Alomar? Just looking to see what everyone thinks about Willie up to this point. Is he meeting or exceeding your expectations? Doing worse than you expected? I would appreciate the feedback. Thanks.
  4. Yeah that morning show sucks. It sucks more because they are the only local sports show on at that time, so they kind of have that slot monopolized. I like hearing our local sports rather than all the Mike and Mike blabbering, although I do like Greenie a great deal. Tom Shaer is top notch as well.
  5. I still don't believe that that can in anyway determine if auto racing is a sport.
  6. I wouldn't exactly say someone that is a "fat ass" is less of an athlete than someone that isn't. The Fridge was a hell of an athlete in his prime, most likely a better athlete than any race car driver ever, but he was always considered a "fat ass." I didn't mean to draw you to this conclusion by my last comparison between Urlacher and Washington, it is just what I came up with at the time.
  7. I wouldn't neccessarily categorize him as a LH reliever although technically that is what he is. He is a situational lefty. He is used only to get the lefty out. Whether that is right or wrong that is where he has had his success and that is where he has the most value. That is what teams will be trading for. What do you expect in return for a situational lefty? What do you set a situational lefty's value at? I can't imagine it would be all too high, especially considering how often he is injured.
  8. Oh I know it wasn't a shot at me. The reason I even posted that at all is because it seems many are blaming the victim because he tapped the SUV with the mini baseball bat. It seemed like they were accusing him and then stating he was a Sox fan as a reason for it happening. You are right, there is no reason for this to matter other than Cub fans are trying to rationalize it by it being a Sox fan was invovled.
  9. I was listening to the Twins/Mariners game last night via the internet. Garcia pitched spectacular and during the postgame they couldn't stop raving about him and neither could the callers. Most of the calls that came in were asking if they could get Beltran for him. The announcers didn't seem to think it was such a big improbability, but then again what do they really know. However, I think his price tag is very high at the moment.
  10. It depends what sport or event you are talking about and the particular participant involved I believe. Is Ted Washington a better "athlete" than Brian Urlacher? I highly doubt it. They both play the same sport. I would not consider a race car driver an athlete based on his driving ability.
  11. This just in from a reliable source of mine. The killer was a drunk 21-year-old father of 3 Cub fan. Take it for what it's worth as a lot of information is being thrown around.
  12. Actually it should be considered an event. Track and Field are not sports. They are events. Horse Racing is an event. Mountain climbing is an event. Auto Racing is an event. Gymnastics, Cheelreeding, Golf, Swimming, Aerobics, Weightlifing...events! Sports are Soccer, Hockey, Basketball, Football, Baseball...maybe tennis, but I haven't decided on where that falls yet.
  13. I know Kelly is a popular player and he has been very good in the situations the sox put him in, but is he really THAT valuable? I mean isn't he just a situational lefty? What can we expect to get in return for him? I wouldn't think it would be much and to be honest with you I would be suprised if we were able to get a Mark Bellhorn from Boston, which was first reported. I have heard they don't like him for a couple of reasons. One is he isn't very agressive. When things go bad he tends to put his head down. Ozzie doesn't seem to approve of this from what I have heard. The second reason being he is oft injured. I have seen something where Steff wrote Kelly and his wife are going through some personal problems, and this could be correct as well for giving him extra time in the minors. However, I have not heard that one. What do you guys even expect to get for this guy if we do ship him out? What do you expect from him if he is back with the team? Is he better than Shingo or Cotts has been? That is who he is competing with isnt it?
  14. I remember an incident a couple years back that was reported. I can't rememeber all of the details, but do remember it was heavily covered for weeks. A man and his family were walking back from Comiskey and a crazy guy was just standing around on the street with a metal pipe (I believe thats what it was) and for some reason began hitting the guy with it. This happened either right outside of the police station or very close to it. I hope someone with a better memory than mine can fill in some of the details, but the fact is it was heavily covered for weeks. This had nothing to do with the ballgame itself other than the fact that people were walking from it, just as it seems these people were walking from the cubs game or cubby bear or whatever. Lets see what exactly happens with this incident and how fast they try to sweep it under the rug. If anyone would like to help me piece that story together please do so. I can't even remember if the guy (and I believe another girl was involved) survived or had brain damage or that. I'm sorry for the terrible injustice I have done to that story.
  15. CBS Sportsline Power Rankings I like their's much better than ESPN's. White Sox are 4th with the Twins 11th
  16. No problem. Sometimes I get a little edgy
  17. nope I did not tell you that. I did say "opinions are like assholes, everybody has one." However, I get where you are coming from.
  18. I don't have a problem at all. I didn't need some one to come in and add their comments about what I should have done or what I should do. That is all I am saying. It also seemed to me that C. Rector was getting a bit of grief for his opinion on the matter and not taking responses towards that opinion. I think his opinion on this particular matter was correct. That is all.
  19. Of course. I forgot that the IMO even matters when it comes to telling someone what to do. You should get a learn to mind your own business or stop posting. JMO See, that made a big difference, didn't it?
  20. And it had to come from you of course.
  21. Right there. That is telling me what to do. Get it? Got it? Good!
  22. play what? elaborate on what?
  23. Again whatever fits your needs. I guess it wasn't my intention to leave a comment for you to read it and try to figure out. Since I was quoting Jim then it was probably meant for him. Didn't know you would have to stick your nose into it and add your two cents. However, I should have known.
  24. Whatever fits your needs I guess.
