I think SS2K4 should have apologized to me a long time ago, but nothing ever came from him. It is not up to me to settle it and I dont need you to tell me what to do. There is no need for you to even be in this conversation to be honest with you. I am not trolling at all. I am not doing anyhting in that definition that the cheat was so kind to leave on the thread. JMO of course I didnt misunderstand him. I never said I agreed with Jim. I agreed with C Rector.
-
Never quoted him.
-
I didn't start this thread. I am just responding to it. Someone wanted to post how that person is up to no good while I think he actually has a point. It was never settled between he and I. The only thing that was settled was because some others got involved and helped me out. Nothing ever came directly from him, so no this was never "settled."
-
I agree that Mike or SS2K4 or whatever you want to call him does have a hypocrisy issue. As I have stated in my last post, just because I didn't get along and was unpopular with a buddy or couple of buddies of his he decided to label me as a "troll". While his buddies were doing the same exact things as I was it was always my fault, or he would continue to gang up on my or ban me from posting as he did once to my knowledge. That to me is hypocrisy. That is what SS2K4 has shown me. Top notch my ass.
-
SO in your "opinion" cheat I have said something specifically to provoke a negative response from someone? I don't say anything specifically to provoke. I state my opinion, whether you want to agree with it or not is entirely up to you.
-
Jim I can't really say I disagree with him. I remember when I first joined here and started posting. SS2K4 did state that I was trolling and I had my own agenda. It seemed to me that I was unpopular with one or two of his buddies so instead of making it easier for me to post here he made it more difficult. Being an admin he should be trying to put out fires and not fueling them. He did not do that and to this day I can not respect him for his attitude towards me and others that he treated like me with no substance to back up his allegations. It seems like just because I didn't get along with a couple of his buddies he went out of his way to make these allegations. That is just my opinion and the way I feel on this thing. Charles seems to have the same opinion on this admin and I can't say I blame him. SS2K4 is not a good admin.

Why does that matter? I didn't know the Sox played at Coors field. So far he is hitting damn well in a White Sox uniform. Willie couldn't hit in the minors? That contradicts every report that I have heard about his minor league hitting.

You must not have seen many Bears lines then. I would say that the 2002 line was a lot worse than last years. Some of the lines early in Payton's career weren't very good either. I don't believe Jones was ready to have an NFL job when he was drafted. He didn't know blocking schemes and then was injured. The following year injured. Last year he actually looked like a good RB. I believe he fits this system perfectly. He is a Marshall Faulk/Priest Holmes type back. He is a shifty back with outside speed and can catch the ball. Train does not fit this system as well as Jones does, he just doesn't, his skill set does not match the system or what the Bears are going to try to do next season. He doesn't fit the scheme. Who knows, I could be wrong and I would be very happy to see Train succeed, however I think Jones fits it better. Am I taking what the Bears staff is saying as Gospel? Hell no! I do trust their decisions when in comes to player personal better than yours though. They have coaches that have proven they can take players and match them to a certain system and make the successful. They are proven. They come from proven systems that work. I trust they know what they are looking for and they know what they are doing. This system has worked in both St Louis and KC. This same system took Marshall Faulk, who was very good in Indy, and made him a stud back in STL. This system and OC took an ok back in Priest Holmes that no one else was even bidding on and made him the best back in the NFL. I think they know what they are doing. I could be wrong on this, but I guess we will see. As far as bringing JA into it, that is because you never responded to it the last time. You havent again because there is nothing that backs that statement you made about him sabotaging the coaching staff. I know you got that statement from the fool Mike North who has brought it up many times. It was a ridiculous comment and it seemed fine for you to just dismiss it. Now you want to back out of answering it again. I am not taking away from the argument, as I can see it never did. The argument is still there and I have never dodged anything. All the answers are there. Where is your answer to my JA question? Where is the sabotage? I do believe that TJ beat out Pittman last year. He may have split carries, but Gruden was said to have loved the guy. He didn't want to lose TJ but TJ wanted to be the featured back in this system. The same system that has made Marshall Faulk and Priest Holmes the best backs in the league. TJ was playing the majority of the time at the end of the season and was getting the majority of the carries. He did beat out Pittman and ended up the main ball carrier the last 4 games of the year while Pittman backed him up. If we were using the same boring ball control offense that we were using under Juron then I would agree with you guys and wonder why we are handing the starting job over to Jones over Train. However, this is a new system and needs different types of players to fit the system. Jones fits it better than Train. I am not arguing that he is a better player than Train or a better RB than Train. I am arguing he is a better fit for this team at this point. He is a better RB for this system that we are installing.
-
I believe he did beat out Michael Pittman last year. He started the last 4 games of the season for them. The Bears O-Line was not a bad run blocking line. Pass blocking damn awful yes, but not run blocking. I am not even going to argue with someone that would take the Train over a RB such as Tiki or Barlow. Enough said. Gibson may have been signed because of injuries but he was also pretty damn good. I would say he was an improvement over Big Cat from the year before. Big Cat wasn't even moving in 2002, he was just trying to get in the way. Aaron Gibson was an improvent over that to say the least. I never said Train was a worse back than Jones. I did say that Jones fits this system much better than Train. However, I would not say that Train is a better back than Jones either. They are different types of backs. If this was the same system that Juron was running then I would wonder why we are handing the starting job to Jones. However we are not running that system. They are different backs. They do different things. Think about that.

It is so funny because when the Bears start winning and Thomas Jones is running all over the place you will not even be able to enjoy it. You will be so pissed off that he is actually doing good. Sucks to be you. Plus you never really explained how Jerry Angelo sabotaged the coaching staff last year. You seemed to just blow that off and never responded to it. I would love to hear your explanation.

Bears averaged 108.9 Yards per game rushing in 2001 which placed them 16th in the NFL in 2001. Ahead of teams such as New Orleans, Balitmore, San Diego, and Green Bay. Those are some pretty good running teams. So we were middle of the pack. My theory of the great run blocking offensive line doesnt hold up why? Cause the stats say so? Go back and look who we had and you will see it was a damn good run blocking line. Blake Brockermeyer, Rex Tucker, Olin Kreutz, Chris Villarrial, and Big Cat Williams. If you think that was a bad run blocking line or mediocre run blocking line then you are fooling yourself. Watch the games and dont worry about the stats. San Fran ranked 9th with 98.2 YPG Jacksonville ranked 10th with 100.7 YPG Cincinatti ranked 11th with 104.7 YPG Tampa Bay ranked 12th with 106.4 YPG So what? Ranked 20th were the Washington Redskins in 2001 at 116.8 YPG. That is only 10 more yards per game than Tampa Bay. Is there really much seperating teams when it comes to ranking them? From the very top to the very bottom yes, but from the middle teams no there isn't. You can take all these stats and throw em out the window they don't mean crap. If a team is giving up 100 or more yards per game I would definately not consider them a good run defense. Everyone of those teams besides San Fran averaged more than 100 YPG against. These stats you have pointed out mean s***.
-
You judge O-Lines by stats or do you judge them by watching them play? To each their own.
-
Que? Does this make any sense to anyone?
-
Marshall Faulk fumbles once every 85 touches Kevan Barlow fumbles once every 68 touches Tiki Barber fumbles once every 37 touches Clinton Portis fumbles once every 80 touches Fred Taylor fumbles once every 92 touches Edgerin James fumbles once every 63 touches I would take each and every one of these backs ahead of Train in the system we will be using. You wouldn't? They all fumble more than Train and are around the same range as TJ.
-
I took stats that were offered up and yes they were manipulated. No one knew who those games were against or when they were played. Put more facts behind them. Our line was not bad at run blocking last year at all. It was definately better than Tampa's. Ahman Green has 25 fumbles in 1,269 touches, average of one every 61 touches. That is more than Thomas Jones. Would you not want Ahman Green instead of Train? I don't give a s*** who the O-Line coach is. I care about who is actually PLAYING on the O-Line. Look who was PLAYING in Arizona at the time.
-
And when has Thomas Jones had a good offensive line to play with? I have also heard these fumble comparisons with Ahman Green and Clinton Portis. I would take both over A-Train. Is A-Train better at breaking off the long run than Portis and Green? As I have said stats are decieving and you can manipulate them and use them anyway you want.
-
This is unbelievable. Do you guys really believe A-Train fits this system? If so you are fooling yourselves. He just doesn't have the outside speed or shiftiness to work this offense. Stats are very misleading. Thomas Jones didn't play much last year and when he did he was playing behind a very poor offensive line. While our line wasn't the best pass blocking line in the league they were a pretty good run blocking line. Tampa's was good at nothing. 22 rushes, 188 yards vs Cincinatti in 2001 gave up 104.7 Rushing YPG 31 rushes, 173 yards vs Tampa Bay in 2001 gave up 106.4 Rushing YPG 33 rushes, 160 yards vs Jacksonville in 2001 gave up 100.7 Rushing YPG 32 rushes, 141 yards vs Washington in 2003 gave up 103.3 Rushing YPG 18 (27?) rushes, 127 yards vs San Francisco in 2001 gave up 98.2 Rushing YPG Notice a trend here? In 2001 we had a very good offensive line, maybe one of the best for run blocking. He loaded up against poor run defenses in 2001 as well except for the 49ers which was an overtime game. We were a team that was always playing ball control in 2001 and trying to run out the clock and we had the O-line and defense to do it. He was rookie of the year when it was clear to everyone that LaDanian Tomlinson should have won that award. You can make statistics fit your argument if you want, but it is clear to just about everyone that A-train just doesnt fit this offensive system.

You sound like Mike North. I hardly think Angelo sabotaged the coaching staff last year as he drafted very well last year as well. He may have traded Washington, but I think the coaching staff agreed with him on that trade because they all felt Washington was on his last legs so they may as well get something for him. They had serious concerns on whether or not he could even play last year on his creeking knees. He drafted a DE, Michael Haynes, which the Bears were also in desperate need of. How did Angelo deliberately sabotage the coaching staff again? What trades? The Bears receiving corp is not a problem? We didn't have a speed guy. That was a problem. With our 3rd round pick we now have one. LB- Urlacher, Briggs, Odom, Knight. I doubt Odom starts the whole season. I think Joe takes over for him. I think we are all behind Angelo because of how he drafted last year and how it seems like he actually has a plan. Unlike former years with Hatley and others who seemed to be drafting all over the place and not taking on specific angle. That seems to be changing around here. Don't you think the Bears coaching staff hurt themselves by not starting the rookies earlier last year? We barely saw Michael Haynes. Grossman should have started earlier as Krodell and Chandler were awful. Peanut Tillman should have started much sooner. Azumah should have been our kick returner for a while now. Briggs didn't start as soon as he should have. Justin Gage was great when he played. The cocahing staff hurt themselves by not wanting to play young guys and by not being able to evaluate talent better or sooner. the coaching staff hurt themselves, not Angelo.
-
So your saying that Ted Washington fits this new system? Yes, we are weak at the position, but whether or not we traded away Ted Washington makes no difference to this. He was a FA and we would have lost him anyway. Horrible reason to give the Bears a C for the entire draft. I give them an A. Getting a WR with that kind of potential in the 3rd round is great. Then trading down and getting Vasher in the 4th? WOW! Another reason I give them an A is because they actually had a plan and followed through with it. They wanted to add speed and boy did they ever. I can't wait to see this team in Bourbonais. Great draft by the coaching staff and Angelo. I think they really worked as a team with this. We actually looked like a real organization. Awesome!

Which QB taken in the draft
southsideirish replied to Be Good's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Depends on what you mean by best career. If it is by winning I think Rothlisberger as Pittsburgh always seems to find a way to win. If it is stats then I think Manning has the best opportunity with his supporting cast right now. Toomer, Hilliard, Shockey, and Barber is a damn good supporting cast. They even made Kerry Collins look good at times. -
I think this was a great draft. We addressed just about every need this off season in either free agency or the draft except for LT. I can't wait the season to start.

What you think of Scott Schoeneweis so far
southsideirish replied to bo_chi_sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
what pitcher hasn't gotten into some trouble?!?!? -
They traded it to SF to get another 5th rounder. Good deal if you ask me. Nathan Vasher - CB 4th round pick SELECTED BY CHICAGO , ROUND 4, PICK 14, OVERALL PICK 110 CB | (5'10", 177, 4.48) | TEXAS | COLLEGE STATS Lack of size and speed are concerns, but Vasher is an aggressive playmaker with terrific ball skills. Vasher is a step below the elite prospects in this class. However, he is aggressive and tough, and could develop into a solid No. 2 cornerback despite his size limitations. He should be ready to contribute right away as a nickel cover corner. Because of his value as a punt returner, Vasher is worth drafting starting late in the second round.
-
(1) Nat Dorsey - 4th Round - Could be a LT (2) Isaac Hilton - 4th Round - Pass rushing specialist I think we can get by in the secondary and if we can improve our line our secondary will improve from the added pressure. Azumah, McQuarters, and Tillman are a pretty good group of CBs, plus I don't think much of Poole. (3) LB possibly if there is one? (4) 7th round - Lorenzen? Smoker? Rutherford? back up QB, we need one.

What you think of Scott Schoeneweis so far
southsideirish replied to bo_chi_sox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think for all the crap KW takes for making some bad trades such as the Todd Ritchie fiasco he should also get Kudos for making this trade. Schoenweis was considered a starter for this year almost as soon as we traded for him. All we gave up was Gary Glover who is no longer in the majors. KUDOS TO YOU KENNY!! GREAT TRADE!!!
