  1. Good point, but what if they sandwich Soriano between Blalock and Texiera? Have a lineup of SS Young 3B Blalock CF Soriano 1B Texiera RF Jordan DH Fullmer LF Dellucci 2B Eric Young C Diaz Now how does that look?
  2. He pitched 211 last year. I agree he is a good pitcher. No doubt. I just doubt he can stay healthy the entire year. I will eat crow if this Yankee staff with no additions finishes in the top 5. I highly doubt they are even close to being that good.
  3. YOu think SOriano will stay on top? I thought with his power and speed combo that they would put him in the 3 hole.
  4. I don't know why. A certain person brought his name up becuase he is 32 and "productive." I believe it was to compare to the Yanks players. This person now says it was mentioned just because they were over 32 and "productive." What ever floats their boat I guess.
  5. You brought them into this conversation for what reason then? If not to compare? Just to mention their names and say they are over 32 and productive? Productive in what aspect? Nevermind, it just didn't make sense that those names were even brought up in the conversation unless you meant to compare them.
  6. DING DING DING!!!! WE HAVE A WINNER!!!!!!! Just because you occasionally get a game winning hit or game winning homer does not make you productive.
  7. Welcome back. I believe you did in terms of production. I have no idea why you even brought those names into the conversation. Productive to what standard? You have yuor standards of productivity, in my opinion, set a little low.
  8. You are right. It is your own opinion what you feel old and what you feel isn't. I agree with you all the way. The Yankees are old relative to the rest of MLB. That is a fact. As a team they are old relative to MLB. Like it or not that is fact.
  9. I don't know why people feel the need to argue with me. Everyone has an opinion. I have never told someone their opinion is wrong. I am just backing up my own. I have agreed to disagree on this board, someone wanted to keep pushing me to back up my opinion. Why I believe a certain way. When this person sees that I don't adjust my opinion to his liking he decides to call me a name. YOu tell me why that is.
  10. Why do you care what I say at all. You must love to post to me because you do it all the time then get aggravated half way through when you can't back up your nonsense.
  11. where did SoxnBears ask me this? I did not see that. I don't know why. Would you like to tell me why? This is all opinion based stuff here. Why do people insist that my opinion is wrong. I told these people that I agree to disagree. They keep on pushing me for answers to back up my opinion, so I give it.
  12. Exactly Brando!!! The Yanks are expecting much more out of these 2 players than the Alomars. This guy was comparing the production of the Alomars to Bernie frekin Williams and Kenny Lofton. Now my point is they are both old(er) players. They are both oft injured players. Kenny Lofton, in my opinion, is a National League player. He may prove me wrong, but that is what I believe. We will see what these players bring to the table this year. I think they are worn down and won't last the entire season as productive as the Yanks are expecting or wanting.
  13. You are making an "idiot" out of yourself. Back up that Alomar thing. There is nothing that can back up comparing the Alomar's productions to what the Yank's expectations out of WIlliams and Lofton are. It is a ridiculous comparison as far as production. They are expecting much more production from those 2 players than anyone is expecting from the Alomars. You think production is just getting on base and clutch hits? That is all it takes for a productive player? Then there are a hell of a lot of productive players in this league. I remember some clutch hits and homers from Paulie last year, does that make him productive last year? Give me a break!
  14. I agree with this Brando and I have brought this up in either this thread or another how underrated he is. However if you are comparing Valentin's production with Bernie Williams we are going to have issues. Which is what this came to be about. You have pointed out all the good Valentin has done, but he does not hit for a high average or on base percentage. I have no problem with having him on my team.
  15. Hello! I think they are expecting more than what the Alomars and Valentin bring. That is what I am talking about. What the hell are you talking about?
  16. And there are the insults. It only took a matter of time for the true colors to start pouring through.
  17. OK my friend ok. I see your argument. You are in fact right it does work both ways.
  18. You are comparing the age of one of the best pitchers of our time to the AVERAGE AGE of the entire Yankees team. As I said apples to oranges. Compare the average age of the entire league to the average age of the Yanks. If the Yanks are in fact younger or at that league average I will take back everything I said about them being old and will agree that you are correct. I belive they are old. And yes if a person is 50 they are old damnit! They may be the exception to the rule. They may keep themselves in shape mentally and physically and do more things than the normal 50 year old can do, however 50 is old.
  19. Alright, your entitled to your opinion. I guess it just depends what you want them to be productive at. If you just want them to be a backup or a decent on base guy then ok that is productive to you. I don't think that is what the Yanks are hoping for out of Williams, Lofton, and such. I think they are expecting more than that.
  20. My point is Brando that USUALLY the older you get the more injury prone you become. You can not realistically expect Brown to be healthy and pitch the entire season. It has been done. I understand this. There are exceptions to ever rule, however there is a norm.
  21. Why are you asking me? To prove what point? That the Yankees arent old? If you are asking for that reason then you are comparing. If not then what is the question for? This is just for good measures: :fyou
  22. Valentin and the Alomar brothers are productive? OKEY DOKEY!
  23. Just a question to you. Are Leiber and Brown in the same category as Pedro Martinez to you? If not then please don't compare them in any way shape or form, not even age. What you are doing essentially is comparing age to production. They aren't the same to me so I would not even answer your question. Give me fair comparisons and I will answer no problem.
  24. Brando he was also injured a bit last year. When healthy he is good no doubt. I think the Yanks NEED him to be healthy. I don't know how you can speculate and be sure that all these pitchers are going to come through like that. Vazquez coming over to a different league? Leiber one year removed fom surgery? Brown almost 40? There is potential to be really good, but there is potential for it to be very bad as well.
