Seattle Times stoking the flames...
southsideirish replied to RudyLawRules's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Thank God I'm not. I guess they come from reading your posts about the subject. "I'm so giddy about getting Mark's autograph, woohoo!" From the picture you have with him in looks like you are in love with him or something. I think you are confusing me with someone else. I am never negative about my team. I don't know what the hell you are talking about. You can take it any way you like "King of all Mods" -

Are you looking to start an argument? I don't think I ever stated "serious", I belive the word was "core." Yes I consider to be part of the core fan base considering I have been a fan since I could watch. My first game was against the Yankees as I watched Bill Almon and Chet Lemon become my two favorite players. Don't ever question what kind of fan I am. No I havent. Why does only the core fan base go? I don't feel the need to have go mingle with the players and see them up close. I don't have the need to get autographs. I don't look up to them. They are not my idols. I don't need or want to become their friends. They just play for my favorite team of my favorite sport. Others that do that is their business. To each their own. 10. Why do only serious fans go to a lot of games? I know a lot of serious fans that wont go to games simply because of what Reinsdorf did to us during the strike. As I said the media could have manipulated it. Thank you for letting me know. Wonderful, I am glad you guys had a good time. -

The core fan base is not our problem and never has been. It is the casual fan we never get and I that is what I thought j.reedfan was talking about. By trading away Magglio the core fan base won't leave. It is the casual fan you will have a hard time to get to come in. From what I have heard the fans that showed up at sox fest for the most part wanted to go to show their displeasure with the team. To rant back at KW and JR. However, the media may be manipulating the truth again. -

How much more can the fan base possibly plummet? -

The strikeouts were from inexperienced hitters swinging at everything. I wouldn't count on those strikeout numbers in the majors. -

I know you are joking, but with all the pessimists around here it seems that we already are giving up on this year and talking about the future. -

That is not true. He had a high walk ratio in the minors as well. However, you can teach control. Randy Johnson was terrible early in his career because of lack of control. You mostly have to improve on your footwork and arm angle to improve control. -
He stole 18 in 200 and 25 in 2002. Both while playing under Manuel. The last 2 years he has only stole a total of 16 bases. He is not very good defensively becuase he gets lazy out there at times and tends to overthrow the cut off man. He is not worth Vlad money. Brando is right about everything he has said.

That seems like a quick fix to our rotation woes. Where does it leave our OF? More speed to play small ball? But I thought I heard KW insist that Maggs wasn't going anywhere? -
EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!! There is always a method to the madness. I can't see Konerko going to the Dodgers. He is younger than Frank and can still be a really good hitter. Plus he is a bit better defensively, not great, but better. Konerko has never been involved in a spat with KW or Ozzie that I know of. Frank seems like the odd man out here. I am still very skeptical of anything that Levine has to say and I would hate to see him traded straight up for Perez. That would be alot of pressure on Perez as another poster mentioned. Then again KW seems to like him a lot. Anything is possible, I am just very skeptical of this Levine guy. Cub fan moron!

I was thinking the same exact thing. The market is going to go back up? Says who? I don't believe he will be making Vlad money. Vlad is 2 years younger, has a canon for an arm and is considered by many to be the best RF in all of baseball. Both defensively and offensively. I think we will resign him for less than the offer of 4 years for 48 million. This may actually work in our favor.
-
Good luck Jeff "Man Hands" Bajenaru. I'll be cheering for you when you make it to the big club!
-
I highly doubt either of these trades happen. Who reported this Levine? Cough cough bulls*** cough cough.
-
-
If is the key word there. Things always tend to change when you see more dollar signs coming your way.
-
I never said that they would lose money continuously. I did say that in order to turn something around you expect loses. We are trying to turn things around aren't we? I don't agree that our payroll would be higher if we were the only team in town. Most likely fans would go no matter what, so the owners wouldn't feel the need to spend. Why spend if the fans come in no matter what?
-
You have a lot more faith in our owners than I do.
-
If they speculate on something but it doesn't come true, then what is it? Levine had nothing to go on with his rumor that the ARod trade was back on. That was the biggest bunch of bulls*** I have ever heard.
-
I don't see how this makes sense. If they say they are not making money then why are they still the owners? They are not trying to win but stay at a competitive level, then why are they still the owners? When you own something you usually want to make money and be the best. In this case our owners don't want a part of either?
-
You will never be able to tell where all the money goes. There are so many expenses besides just the big league club to keep track of. Minor league system, scouting.... As fans we will never be able to see where this all goes.
-
I don't understand this philosophy. In the business world, in order for companies to turn things around like the sox are trying to do, you know you have to suffer a loss. It may be a loss in a quarter or maybe the whole year. Either way you have to do this. If our owners don't understand this then we will never get things turned around. YOu have to spend money to eventually make money. You lose this one year, but it pays itself off in the up coming years. Why don't these guys understand that? Not Wirtz, McCaskey, or Reinsdorf.
-
Then how does Colon fit in Brando? Didn't we trade Osuna in the Colon deal. Yes I would like to have him instead of Rick White, but I believe we signed Gordon to replace Osuna. Would we have signed Gordon if we had Osuna? I belive the Colon deal should be factored in there somewhere.

If he died of a heart attack how the hell do we know what he was dreaming about?

I would rather have Travis Lee. Trade Konerko for Ishii and you save some dollars. Then sign Travis Lee. Done.
