I have yet to see Pedro do that. Doesn't Maddux have a horrible playoff record? You would be taking a great chance on Maddux. He has never pitched in the American League, he will be 38 in April, and his ERA was not very good last year. I wouldn't like that signing at all. Especially not for 8-10 million a year.

LostinBoston already mentioned that Edwin Jackson has been penciled in as the 5th starter. I have read the exact same thing. It was a quote from thier manager. It is his job to lose based on how well he did at the end of last season. It seems like they have too many starters and not enough relievers. It just seems like a wierd signing.

The Dodgers signed Lima? What are they doing with all this starting pitching? Nomo? Ishii? Dreifort? Weaver? Perez? Alvarez? Edwin Jackson? I know Dreifort is hurt but I believe he is coming back by spring training. Did anyone else hear of this signing? What are they doing over there? This may have been discussed before, but I haven't seen it yet.

I think he is even contradicting himself in the answer. At first he says he runs it by him as he does everyone in the organization. Then he says he is hands off and lets the baseball people make the baseball decisions. If he is truly hands off then why does he feel the need to run it by him?

That helps clear things up a great deal. As JimH also wrote, there was no one quoted. All the columns I read at the time and from people talking about it made it seem like it was a fact that he was rooting against his own team. The picture you paint is much different.
