  1. Exactly. No one complained about this when they had both a healthy Boone and Soriano in their lineup. Now that they added ARod and subtracted Soriano all of a sudden they are the best offense in all of baseball. Which is better offensively?ARod and Cairo/Wilson or Soriano and Boone? Soriano is not some piece of s*** offensively. 35/35 all star.
  2. Dennis Rodman was not signed. He was traded for Wil Perdue. I believe it was an even swap. Not sure if the cap was around back then or not. Plus I believe a lot of people were not to thrilled of having the headcase coming to the Bulls. Not many teams even wanted him, which tells you why he was dealt for Wil Perdue.
  3. AY! You can take that anyway you want, and obviously you did. If you look at what I wrote you can see what I meant. It is still the haves vs the have nots. It was that way before ARod was a Yank it is that way now. Some people just look for things I tell ya.
  4. What I am saying is I would not be suprised one bit if they didn't win it this year or, for that matter, if they didn't even make the playoffs. The way the schedule is structured now and looking at that division they are going to have a tough schedule. There could be 2 west coast teams that sneak in and Boston could win their division. You just never know.
  5. Exactly. They havent won a thing the last couple years. Let them spend and waste the money. Their farm system is decimated. It will eventually catch up to them. Compare them to the Rangers in hockey. The biggest waste of money. They spend and spend. They have the highest payroll in the NHL and have trouble making it to the playoffs. Just because you have the highest payroll doesn't mean you have a good team. It may make it easier for you to put together a really good team on paper, but that is about it. Just because the Yanks are spending more does not change baseball one bit. It is still the haves vs. the have nots. There is a lot to blame for this. The owner's greed, no cap, or free agency. Nothing has changed since the Yanks got ARod. The Yanks have holes and they can easily be beaten.
  6. I believe our scouting in general is very weak. Hasn't that alway been the case under Reinsdorf?
  7. BINGO!!!! He hasn't put 2 good years back to back since his injury. And I highly doubt he will have a 2.72 ERA with 46 saves this season. He has had a nice career, but is not worth that much anymore. Plus didn't we receive some sort of draft pick compensation for him? Doe sanyone know where that pick lands?
  8. I would like to know where I argued that a single player is old at the age of 32. I stated the Yankees are an old TEAM. There is a difference between an old player and an old team. A TEAM with the average age of 32 is no doubt an old TEAM. Thanks for all the lists everyone. I don't know how that helps the argument of the old team concept. If you have a bunch of old players you will most likely have more injuries. Looking at the Yankees roster there are a bunch of players that are more susceptible to injuries. Bernie Williams, Giambi, Lofton, Rivera, Brown, Leiber, and Gordon just to name a few. Is it because of age? Wear and tear on a body leads to injuries. All of you guys have listed some great players, no doubt about it. There are exeptions to every rule. However, that was not my argument. My argument clearly was that the YANKEES are an OLD TEAM.
  9. Sorry, actually I was wrong. It is as much as done. From what I hear Cashman was not aware that Steinbrenner was already talking to Boras when Cashman said he wasn't interested. Strange on Maddux's part. I really don't think he was all that great last year. So where does he fit in? Who is out? Leiber? Contreras? Do one of them go to the pen?
  10. Cashman denied it. Maddux never wanted to play for an AL team and he wants to be closer to his Vegas home. I highly doubt he signs with the Yanks. There is no premise to this story. It sounds a lot like Levine's last rumor about the Red Sox and ARod.
  11. Was this before or after you called me an "idiot"? Maybe that is before or after you jsut decided to call me ignorant and arrogant. That is the first point. 2nd point I never said ONE PLAYER was old at 32, however a TEAM with the average age of 32 is considered an OLD TEAM. There is a difference there whether you recognize that or not. You have done this comparison many times and I have told you it is comparing apples to oranges. I have repeatedly said to compare the league average age to the Yankees average age. That will show you that the Yanks are old relative to MLB. If you can't understand that then you better look yourself in the mirror and ask yourself who is ignorant or arrogant. That is why I never answered the question you asked because you were asking it to compare a player to a team or an outstanding player to other players. Whether you recognize that or not, you were doing that. Even if the only thing you were comparing between the players were the ages of them you were still comparing them. I tried to ask you to stop a while before you stopped. I agreed to disagree with you a while back, however you kept pushing. You wanted to try and make me change my opinion of what "old" is to me or my opinion of the Yanks being an old team. Since you couldn't change this opnion you decided it would be best to call me an idiot then later you decided it would be best to call me ignorant and arrogant.
  12. How about Jon Garland finaly coming through? Neal Cotts? Jon Rauch? You never know what could happen.
  13. I can see us beating the A's. They are depending a lot on Jermaine Dye. They better hope he is fully recovered. That offense looks anemic.
  14. Yeah I remember that about him. The man was a bulldog, never gave in. He was definately a winner. I also remember him being an emotional kind of guy. He seemed like a leader when he was out there. Like the other players fed off of him.
  15. Thank you whitesoxfan99. I know JR hates paying pitchers and giving them long contracts. I knew there had to be some kind of an example out there.
  16. Really? Hmm, must have blocked that out. Didn't he already start declining the year before we let him go? I remember I wasn't all that upset about losing him.
  17. That's right! Our team is about the same as it was last year at this time, possibly even better. We have a 20 game winner in Loaiza (last year it was Colon), Buehrle, Garland and a bunch of question marks. We have a pretty deep and solid bullpen which it wasn't thought of at this time last year. Our lineup is decent. Our feilding, speed, and top of the order may actually be better than last year at this time with the addition of a completely healthy ARow and Willie Harris. Then you add a year of experience to Olivo and Crede. A better year from Koch, Buehrle, Paulie, Valentin, and Maggs. You take all that into account and see that the Twins have lost a bunch of players and the Royals did little to improve their starting rotation and we have better odds than last year. This is going to be a great year Sox fans!!!!!
  18. Can you give me a time when JR has traded away a player and only received money in return. I am not talking about an average or piece of crap player. I mean a player of Buehrle's caliber. Please give me an example. I am sure there is some sort of example, but I am just drawing a blank. Thank you.
  19. Correctamundo!! There is no way we trade him without getting a couple of good young prospects in return. I don't care how much money we get in return for him. He is relatively cheap and only 24. It is a ridiculous things Gammons stated. The Yankees have nothing to offer. Their minor league system is bare. There is nothing. They have nothing to trade what so ever. If KW only got money in return for Buehrle then what would happen to our fan base? This is just a ridiculous statement by Gammons.
  20. Trust me if the White Sox had him and his salary there would be plenty of people complaining about him.
  21. Supposedly that is what they are doing. That is what the guys they had on the radio from Texas said. Michael Young to SS and Eric Young to 2B. Not a bad looking lineup at all. But they need a hell of a lot of pitching (holy s***, I agreed with JReed on something!! ). Especially to compete in the AL West.
  22. There are always exceptions to the rule Mr. Brando. In fact didn't our own Magglio's production slip a bit last year? I am not saying it willcontinue that way, but it did slip.
