  1. QUOTE(wherehaveyougoneharold @ Jan 19, 2006 -> 09:46 PM) I don't get it. If a "C" is average, how can the vast majority be above average? If there are 30 teams (or whatever) in MLB, then the top 15 need to be your A,B, or C group and the bottom 15 need to get C,D, and F. Right? Its the same way with the NFL draft. Everyone will grade the drafts and 26 of the 32 teams will get a b- or better. Makes no sense. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> C is average by the writer's own standards. What he thinks is an average move or moves should be a C. You are grading on a curve. I don't agree with that at all.
  2. QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 18, 2006 -> 07:05 PM) Ligue isn't a baseball fan at all. He's a NASCAR fan. Him, his wife, girlfriend, sister, son, and parole officer all said so. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm not shocked. I'm not sayin', I'm just sayin'.
  3. QUOTE(Irishsox1 @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 03:24 PM) Here are some photos from those attacks/morons. The first one was the Cub fan Dybas, the second was the guy that attacked the umpire with his kid, the third one is some jerk that ran on the field and the fourth is when Homer cost the 'Topes the championship. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> William Ligue is the Cub fan who attacked Gamboa with his kid. Eric Dybas attacked umpire Laz Diaz.
  4. 5. Mike Morse, ss (Garcia) Cooled off after blazing big league start, then got suspended for steroids I didn't know he was a steroid guy. I have no idea where I have been. WOW!
  5. QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Jan 9, 2006 -> 05:35 AM) And of course NASCAR!!! XM 144 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Oh yeah, how could I forget. It is so interesting to watch cars go in circles on TV and in person. I can't believe how intersting and exciting it could actually be to listen to in on the radio. Really, come on, a NASCAR radio channel? Does the WWE have their own radio channel too?
  6. Sirius is a better buy. More total sports plus Howard Stern. XM only has one thing going for it, MLB, that is it.
  7. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Jan 7, 2006 -> 01:12 AM) So did anyone get to hear the KW interview on XM Satellite Radio MLB 175? For those of you who are out of market like myself I would highly recommend getting it. Complete coverage pre & post game. + all the offseason. + all season games. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> MLB.com has all of the regular season games radio broadcasts for much less, maybe free, I can't remember. I definitely wouldn't recommend getting XM just for that.
  8. There was a report about this out of Philly about a month ago. Are you sure they are not just rehashing old rumors?
  9. Just look at it this way guys. It is a situation in which Japan has absolutely nothing to lose. If they play us and they do lose to us, then hey, so what, they weren't supposed to win. However, if they play us and win, they have a big I told you so, and they can claim to be the real champions of the world. MLB has nothing to gain by playing a lesser opponent and everything to lose.
  10. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 04:16 PM) He's been a hot commodity for years now. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wierd, I never knew. Especially how everyone criticizes the offense for throwing the ball so much. Plus the fact that Reid is considered the offensive guru and play caller. Why would he be so highly sought after? I know that Jim Johnson, the Eagles D Coordinator, has been highly thought of around the league. I just never knew the same was said about Childress.
  11. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 02:49 PM) Supposedly will be announced today, Childress to Minnesota http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/foot...r.ap/index.html <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Was he that highly sought after that the move had to be made so fast? I know that most teams would like to get a coach in so they can pick up the rest of their coaching staff, but I didn't know Childress was such a hot commodity.
  12. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 08:50 PM) Southsiderirish, First of all I dont see where bias enters my statement. I am a Bears fan, meaning I want the Bears to do well. Ive watched Randle El since he was a qb in Indiana, he is not as polished as Brandon Williams. Not to mention Randle El's little Brother Marcus is on the Wisconsin football team so not sure where bias enters. Ive seen Williams play for years, and I feel I am a good judge of talent, I feel he will be a solid slot WR for years and good PR/KR. These are things the Bears need. As for Young leaving. If he is going to be picked by the Texans, his home town team, Young is gone. If he is not going to be, he may stay. As for the Texans picking Bush, that is dumber than picking Young and having Carr. The Texans not only have Dominick Davis, they have Vernard Morency, and Wells. Bush is not as good as Young and they will forever live in the shadow of one of the greatest state of Texas players. IMO, Vince Young is hands down the best player in this draft. SB <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Was this whole post directed towards me or just the biased part? Because I don't ever remember stating that Houston would take Bush in the draft. I think you have a bias towards Wisconsin players. Randle El has been in the NFL for 4 years now. It is tought to say that a player, that is not considered elite by any means, would be better than a player that has been in the NFL for 4 years now. Randle El seems like a pretty good fit as a slot receiver for the Bears to me. He is a proven NFL player. Brandon Williams has not proven a thing and is not some budding superstar that scouts just can't stop raving about or that coaches can't wait to get their hands on. I don't think they would or should waste a draft pick on a wide receiver such as Brandon Williams. I don't even know where you are thinking about taking him, but if it is with the Bears first round selection I think you are absolutely nuts if you think taking Brandon Williams over either TE Marcedes Lewis or Vernon Davis would be the better move.
  13. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 07:43 PM) With Texas having the 1st pick and still having David Carr, I'd think they'd be much more in the market for Reggie Bush unless someone traded for that pick in order to take Young. Leinart has moved down in the draft by being taken this year, and has lost money. But I could very easily see Young being taken 2nd or later this year depending on what type of QB the Saints decide they want (Pocket passer or pocket passer who can run?) If Vince were to stay, I can't see anyone right now who could pass him to take the #1 spot in the 2007 draft, barring the usual injuries of course, can you? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Where did I ever say Young would get drafted #1 overall? I am basically saying that Young's stock has no where to go but down. It is at its all time high and it will never get higher. Last year no one saw Vince Young rising this high to take this spot. Next year someone else will rise up. It could be Brady Quinn. Who knows. All I know is that Vince Young's stock will never be as high as it is now. It will never have this much momentum going into a draft again. Why risk it? It just doesn't make sense.
  14. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jan 5, 2006 -> 06:50 AM) Houston won't pick him, Texas has the nation's best recruiting class(with a stud OL), and he has a chance to for the Heisman(which he really wants badly) plus the shot of winning another National Championship. Remember that his WR's will also be better considering they'll be sophmores and juniors. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> His stock will never be this high with this much momentum going his way. If he stays it gives all the people to pick you apart and undervalue you. Leinart would have been the 1st pick in the draft last year. He stayed and he will lose money. How much, I don't know, but he will not be the first overall pick and will not get first overall pick bonus money or contract. He would be a fool to stay.
  15. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 09:24 PM) Bears not drafting or signing a good wr would be one of the worst mistakes. I can not name any time where they have had more good WR's then they could find playing time. And why would you want Randle El, who is going to be more expensive then Brandon Williams, and is not as good of a WR or returner? IMO you draft best player available unless you have a glaring need. SB <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think you are a little biased there.
  16. QUOTE(DABearSoX @ Jan 4, 2006 -> 12:32 AM) Wow I didn't know anyone payed attention to the Houston Texans..... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How do you figure Dom Davis will get a 2nd round pick when Seattle and Indy couldn't get that when taking offers for James and Alexander last year? There is no way in hell that Houston will be able to get a 2nd round pick for Dominic Davis.
  17. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 3, 2006 -> 03:28 AM) I think New Orleans takes Matt Leinart because I have a REAL hard time believing that the Saints will be in N.O. in 2007. The NFL is basically FORCING them to play there next year even though it would be better for the team to play in San Antonio. I am sure that will piss of the owner and he'll force a move to LA. Matt Leinart returns to LA. Seems like a big draw to me! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The owner, Benson, fought with the NFL to get them to play in New Orleans. The team actually wants to play in New Orleans. What are you talking about?
  18. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 3, 2006 -> 07:30 PM) The Raiders would love Leinart, but I don't see him lasting to the 6th pick. If he does it would be a mistake cause the guys going to be a darn good pro qb. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I keep reading about Jay Cutler and how everyone is falling in love with this guy. Could he jump ahead of Leinhart?
  19. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 3, 2006 -> 07:44 PM) Wow, there's a first time for everything <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's a new year. What can you do?
  20. Will Vince Young declare? If he does, then who takes him? I think Arizona takes him.
  21. No doubt about it. It will be either Vernon Davis or Marcedes Lewis. One of them will be there and the Bears will be thrilled with either one.
  22. QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 3, 2006 -> 04:24 PM) No, it's not incorrect. Most of the tickets that are not ST holders went to the Bears and the NFL and sponsors. We had the choice of not buying our tickets and were told that they would go in the ticketmaster pool. A few thousand were in that pool. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Steff is definitely correct. This is a fact.
  23. QUOTE(mreye @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 06:09 PM) http://nwitimes.com/articles/2005/12/30/ne...0e7000e3f15.txt If the Bears are doing this to stop the brokers then they have no idea how brokers work. The broker doesn't make the phone call, he has people like you and me doing the calling and he has people all over the US. :headshake <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't know if you heard, but the area has been extended to northwest Indiana. That should make some of you happy.
  24. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 01:35 AM) Well he upgraded his TE spot, he obviously wanted to keep quan over Moss so it makes sense in a keeper. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Exactly. That is exactly why I did it. I stole Moss earlier in the year when Boldin was hurt. I asked an owner what they wanted for him and he was pretty pissed with him. He told me he would take Jake Delhomme. His starting QB was Marc Bulger. I got Moss for basically nothing. Now that the season has ended and Moss had just an awful year I couldn't get much of anything for him. Looking at my team I may have, arguably, the best player at each position going into next year in Carson Palmer, Larry Johnson, Torry Holt, and Antonio Gates. Anquan Boldin is one hell of a #2 WR and Cadillac can be one hell of a #2 RB. I also knew that I would have to overpay to get Gates away from his owner. He creates such an advantage because there is not another TE that comes close to his production consistently. Jeremy Shockey is good, but he is not Gates. A 2nd round pick as a throw in is not much. In a keeper league such as this one it is more like around the 60th pick in the draft. It took a lot to get him. I think it was a fair deal for each side.
  25. QUOTE(WCSox @ Dec 31, 2005 -> 06:07 PM) Those two sentences show that you're completely clueless. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Juan Pierre is definitely not a good CF'er. His offensive output does not make him a good CF'er. His horrible arm and not so great range make him a bad CF'er.
