QUOTE(thedoctor @ Jan 24, 2006 -> 02:38 PM) you don't know me so i don't think it would be wise for you to attempt to assume how i think. i believe in civility between people, not a candy-ass new-age approach. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You must have misread or misunderstood me somewhere. You should either go back and read the post more carefully or ask what I was saying there. I don't know where I ever stated that you think that was ok. I can see where I asked you if I thought if she was trying to annoy him or not. Here, next time quote me correctly. Make sure you take the whole thing. I highly doubt she was taking some new-aged candy-ass aproach. She was just trying to annoy him and get under his skin. I never once said you did believe in it. I did however ask you a question about it.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jan 22, 2006 -> 03:45 PM) Its not bad, or strange. Its funny to me. But I am not a QB in a bigtime city with an image to uphold, and I certainly havent been busted in multiple pictures which have shown up on multiple websites hammered off my ass with half of my drink in my stomach and the other half on my shirt. I didnt condemn the action. But if I were Orton, I would do my damndest to avoid being pictured repeatedly in that condition. At least put the bottle down if you are gonna drink, the rest of the world uses glasses, lol. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I am sorry, but what type of image is a 23 year old QB from a bigtime city supposed to uphold? He can't go dancing and drinking? Who cares how many pictures show up, it seems like a normal 23 year old thing to do to me. I don't understand this at all. I guess some people think he is very photogenic. I don't have any idea why they keep taking pictures of him when you hear of players doing a lot more that, and that is thought of as a lot worse. Such as married players with kids drinking in and getting lap dances in strip clubs. But you never see pictures of them in there. I still don't get it at all. Sorry, but it all seems pretty normal to me. -
QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 10:41 PM) Your WWSBMID comment was very condescending, Rock! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Get used to it. That is the way he/she posts. He/She thinks he/she is the only one that knows anything about baseball. He/She has made that obvious many times.

QUOTE(thedoctor @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 03:38 PM) well that is where you an i differ. i don't go about the business of swearing at people i don't know just because i don't like what they are doing. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You are correct. That is where you and I differ. We also differ because you seem to think that is justification for acting as Kendra Davis did. It is not. Not in the least. After hearing Steff's report about her and other's reports out of Toronto we can both see that she has a history of this sort of stuff. She also has a history of stating that other people say things first. So know we have to choose who to believe. By looking at her history and seeing her on tape I will choose not to believe her. You think this: and said if she touched him at all it was only to place a hand on his shoulder to try and calm him. "All I kept saying to him was `Dude, relax. Go to a happy place,'" would actually calm someone down? We both know that if she really did this she was not trying to calm her down. She was trying to antagonize and annoy him. He kept his cool as she was doing this and putting her hands all around his face. All he did was signal for security.

QUOTE(BHAMBARONS @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 07:11 AM) I see this all the time at the Met with visting fans standing & cheering for other team, but with kids in the crowd I refrain from saying those type of words. There is no reason to use that word with kids around. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You and I both agree on that. However, it does not seem as the majority of others do. From my experiences anyway.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jan 21, 2006 -> 07:00 PM) http://www.collegehumor.com/pictures/1651831/ Somebody is going to have to teach him to avoid cameras. Has there been an athlete in Chicago photographed this wasted this many times in such a short period of time? Somebody get White Sox Josh on the case. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't know why this is so bad or so strange. He is at a clubd drinking and dancing. He is 23 years old. So freaking what? Isn't that what a bunch of 23 year olds do? I don't get it. -
QUOTE(thedoctor @ Jan 21, 2006 -> 06:22 PM) because civil adults don't act that way. when you swear at someone, you are escalating the conflict and inviting it to be taken to another level. that was unnecessary. the guy i heard on dan patrick's show who was right there (he was in the frame in a blue shirt) said davis's wife was getting stoked, standing up and cheering for her team. the guy told her something to the effect of "hey lady, sit the f*** down." if you tell me that, we have a problem. if you say it nicely, we don't. i'm not saying davis's wife was right. she wasn't. neither was axelrod. as i said, adults behaving badly. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And like I said before. If you are on the road at a rival's stadium cheering for the road team then you should expect something like "sit the f*** down" in the very least. If you can't handle that then you shouldn't be going there. That is pretty simlpe. If you are doing it at my home team's stadium I wil tell you that every single time. You can either have fun with that or you can have a problem with it. If you want a problem out of that, then I would be more than happy to supply you with one. Axelrod acted like a normal fan would. Davis' wife did not.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jan 20, 2006 -> 10:56 PM) meet: Marvin Harrison has been looking s***ty the past 4 years, hasn't he Hammer? Ed McCaffrey too, right? Throw Troy Brown into that list as well. Mushin Muhammed did have his best year in the ages of 26 and 29, right Hammer? Jimmy Smith has been a s***ty player since the age of 29. I suggest you get off my dick Hammer, because you follow me around everywhere I post and continue to think you're right on every subject when it comes to sports. I let the last one go, but if rules aren't going to be enforced, I have no problems taking shots at the "god-like" poster than you think you are. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The Marvin Harrison comparison is pretty good, but you have to remember who he is working with and the offense he is in. Still his best years were 27-30. Jimmy Smith is a good example too, but he is still not the player he used to be. Jerry Rice is the greatest receiver in the history of the NFL. He is an exception to the rule. T.O. may be as well, but don't expect his best years. Ed McCaffery compared to TO? He didn't even put up decent numbers until he was 30, so that is not a fair comparison to TO. Mushin Muhammed had his best year at 31, but didn't have a good year since 2000 and was awful this year. That may be a one year wonder. Are you comparing him to T.O.? Troy Brown? What? Did you mean Tim Brown maybe? He was already listed, so I don't think you did. Even if you did his best years were before 30, not after. He was still a decent receiver after 30 but not like he was before that age. I think success is what you have in your own mind as being successful. Would you look at what any of these players have done after thirty besides Harrison, Smith, Rice, and maybe Tim Brown has a successful season for T.O.? I wouldn't. When I think of T.O. the player I think of dominance. I don't think of T.O. as the average Joey Galloway, Ed Mccaffery, Mushin Muhammed, Troy Brown (ha ha!), or Keenan McCardell type seasons. If you are signing T.O. you are expecting much more than that, in my opinion. Ed McCaffery compared to TO? He didn't even put up decent numbers until he was 30, so that is not a fair comparison to TO. Mushin Muhammed had his best year at 31, but didn't have a good year until 2000 and was awful this year. That may be a one year wonder. Are you comparing him to T.O.? Troy Brown? What? Did you mean Tim Brown maybe? Even if you did his best years were before 30, not after. He was still a decent receiver after 30 but not like he was before that age. Keenan McCardell? He is a decent receiver, but he is not someone that I would compare T.O. with. He didn't even have a 1000 yard season this year. -
QUOTE(thedoctor @ Jan 20, 2006 -> 04:41 PM) well, it happens. you mean to tell me you've never seen anything like this happen at a game before? it was adults behaving badly. she didn't need to confront him and he didn't need to tell her to sit the f*** down. that word really starts a lot of people. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Where did I say that I have never seen it before? I have never seen a player jump into the stands in order to stop it though. And then claim that the man was drunk and assaulting his wife. He didn't need to tell her to sit the f*** down? Why not? Why didn't he need to tell her that? If she is ruining his enjoyment of the game why doesn't he need to tell her that?

Did any of you see North Country? This issue you guys bring up is part of the story. Very good movie. There is no way I could ever keep the baby and look at that baby without being reminded of something horrible. I would definitely ask my wife/daughter to have the abortion or take the morning after pill. You may say that I will never know what I would do unless I am put in that situation, but I know I could not handle that. I really don't know how anyone does. To raise a child that came from such a horrible act and to be reminded of that horrible act every single time you look at the child's face. It is just a horrible situation. As a man, to look at the child and think that the child was a result of the filthy act that my wife endured would be enough to make me ask her to have an abortion or take the morning after pill. As far as adoption, I would not want my wife to even go through the process of giving birth due to a horrific situation such as rape. The pregnancy and birth are so unforgettable and so intimate for a woman that I can not ever imagine letting my wife/daughter go through that because of the horrible circumstances she went through.

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 20, 2006 -> 05:24 PM) Wait just a goddamn minute here! It's ok for some LEFTIST! to bash FoxNews and when bring up CBS in response I get this crap? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Umm, yes?

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 20, 2006 -> 06:56 PM) It's not that clear-cut because he can still claim that the 9/11 authorization somehow gave Bush this authority. While, for reasons shown earlier (i.e. the whereas parts of the resolution), this explanation may be dubious, it has not been firmly, 100% shown beyond a shadow of a doubt that Bush broke the law. I may believe that, but without a court or Congress coming down and saying that, then it is just an opinion, no matter how well-supported 1 side is and how poorly supported the other side is. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thank you Balta.
-
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jan 20, 2006 -> 01:19 PM) It is YOUR OPINION he broke the law. It is not that clear cut. It sounds good for 'the agenda' of people with an axe to grind that he 'broke the law'. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So the law is not actually a law? He may have followed the law and we just don't know? Please explain to me why it is only MY OPINION that he broke the law. I would love to know why it is not that clear cut.
-
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jan 20, 2006 -> 06:31 PM) Not only do you all sound like Chicken Little (thanks, YAS) but you all WANT to catch Bush on something like this so you can hang him by his toenails. That's the reality of it all... you 'nasty leftists' want to get him so bad, on ANYTHING, that you'll take points of view that support your hatred and feed the fire of "anything but Bush". <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm sorry, but just because the nasty rightists did this with Clinton does not mean that the nasty leftists are doing the same thing to Bush. I think a large majority of America feels lied to and scammed by this president. The fact is that we may be over protecting ourselves from letting it happen again, or to maybe from letting it to keep on happening.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jan 20, 2006 -> 01:05 AM) Why would journalists, newspapers, web sites etc. be in a world of hurt? They arent using the USC/LSU/TEX likeness or initials for advertising, are they? This guy is advertising for his website by using the USC, LSU, and TEX recognizable initials(not to mention the championship trophy) to promote his website. Like I said, its cool to stick a middle finger to the man like that, I just dont think its gonna happen <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So then they could do it by removing onepeat.com? Then I say it is a done deal. It looks like the site was only started to set the record straight and to get money for the billboard. -
QUOTE(thedoctor @ Jan 20, 2006 -> 02:17 PM) after hearing numerous accounts of this, it's clear to me that this was just a case of two adults behaving badly. mrs. davis has a right to get up and cheer the team she's rooting for, just as mr. axelrod has the right to ask her to sit down. i've seen situations like this happen often at just about every kind of game i've attended. it's clear to me that both allowed the situation to escalate past the point it should have. in this respect, security should have been on the seen quicker than they were. reports i've heard say they did not arrive until a.d. was on the scene. regardless, as much as i like a.d. his actions have made this more of a story than it probably needs to be. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I agree she has the right, but if she does then she has to expect something to be said to her if she is on the road against a known rival. Axelrod did not get out of his seat to confront her. Why she felt the need to do that is beyond me.
-
QUOTE(Goldmember @ Jan 20, 2006 -> 02:05 PM) that vid shows nothing. she obviously wasn't yelling at him. she didn't hit him, he didn't hit her. all it shows is him looking for security while it looks like she is telling him to calm down. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> She looks like she is yelling to me while she has his hands all around his face and head just to be an annoying asshole.

Carmen and Silvy to get the Ax?

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jan 20, 2006 -> 03:33 PM) I was reading the story about Jimmy Piersall on chicagosports.com, and I noticed this blurb at the bottom. Just as I was getting to really like those two, ESPN pulls the plug. I hate the cutthroat nature of the radio business, noone ever gets any decent time to gel and become cohesive with the person they are working with. Radio gives you a quick second, then the hook if you dont do well in the ratings. Its really too bad, I like both of those guys alot, and together they were starting to sound so much better. Gotta love the random arbitron ratings ruling the roost. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This doesn't surprise me. I can't stand that whining little b**** boy that goes by the name of Silvy. He really annoys me. -

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jan 20, 2006 -> 05:22 AM) T.O. isn't that old. He's in his prime. Plus he's going to be on the best behavior just to shove it up the Eagles' asses. If he were to play in the same division, he would do anything and I mean anything to make sure they beat the snot out of the Eagles and that would mean him being on best behavior. T.O. with Keyshawn opposite of him and Terry Glenn as the #3 would be great. Plus you have Crayton as a KR and 4th wideout when you want to spread them out and that's one great receiving group. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He is 32 almost 33. Is that really the prime age for a WR? I don't know this for sure, but I don't think so. -

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jan 20, 2006 -> 04:36 AM) I still say he signs with Atlanta. He has a home in Atlanta, the Falcons need a receiver, Mora's probably atleast a little familiar with him...and I just wanna see battle of the egos. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I will bet that there is no way in hell they allow T.O. to sink his teeth into Mike Vick. I believe many from that organization have come out publicly to state that. Plus they have a very young up and coming group of WRs. Roddy White and Michael Jenkins have looked very good. Throw in Crumpler and Finneran and they have a good group. I don't think the problem is the WRs because Schaub seems to be able to throw to them pretty well. I think it is more of a problem of Mike Vick's passing abilities. -
Why can't people just look at the facts. Who cares if you are a republican or democrat. The fact is that Bush purposely disobeyed the law. He did not have to. In the event of an emergency, a wiretap can be obtained without a warrant, as long as the Attorney General applies for a FISA warrant within 72 hours of the tap. There is no reason that violating the FISA would be important to our security. As Balta stated: Just forget the fact that you are a Republican or a Democrat and look at that fact. Now please try to debate why he would have to purposely disobey that law. I would love to hear the reasoning behind that.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jan 14, 2006 -> 08:09 PM) http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,181462,00.html 58% of Americans according to a poll believe the President should have the authority to authorize wiretaps without a warrant against terror suspects. So there. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Which 900 Americans were polled? It seems like a low number to me to choose to represent the entire country. This is not a good thing to base your argument on at all.

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 06:06 AM) Ah yes, the great debate. Bush is a prick/Democrats are pricks. Everyone knows where I stand with our President. I voted for other candidates in both elections, and worked actively to defeat him last year. I think that he has generally been a disaster. And before you tell me that I'm biased because I'm a democrat, I also think that JFK was a disaster. And that Bill Clinton sold me out in 1996. (I didn't vote for him either) But I will say this. The law is pretty damn clear and pretty damn accomodating to make sure that surveillance in absolute time of necessity is taken care of. You need to get a warrant within 72 hours from a secret court which almost always agrees to the warrant. I don't know why Bush decided to circumvent this seemingly easy process. I'd like to hear his justifications for it. I don't know why he'd need to circumvent this process. I will say this. Any president who apparently wipes his ass with the constitution like Bush may well have done for three years deserves to not have his job. Give me a legitimate reason for why he did what he did, and I'll give our President the benefit of the doubt. But, given that the law in this matter bends over backwards already - I don't know how I can. This is an inexcusable abuse of power, if what I understand about this story is true. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It is clear what the reasoning is. It is called arrogance.

It is wierd how Neyer just wrote how the Twins and Indians got better and the White Sox did not over the off season. Now this article gives the White Sox get an A while the Indians get a C and the Twins get a D. How can that be? Maybe, just maybe, Neyer is a moron.
