  1. One of the leagues I am in is a "dynasty league". We can keep anywhere from 2 - 6 players. You must keep at least 2 players, but no more than 6. We can't keep more than 1 QB, more than 2 RBs, more than 2 WRs, or more than 1 TE. We are also not allowed to keep Kickers or D/ST. I have been in it for a while and it is quite different from my other league. It really keeps my interest. My season ended in the semi-finals with a starting team of Kurt Warner (got hurt), LaDanian (where was he?), Larry Johnson (FREAKING AWESOME!), Torry Holt (How consistent is he?), Anquan Boldin (the next T.O.?), Jeremy Shockey, Neil Rackers, and Miami Dolphins D/ST. Since that week I have made 2 trades. I traded away LaDanian and in return I received Carson Palmer, Willis McGahee, and a 2nd round pick in next year's draft. I then traded that 2nd round pick, Jeremy Shockey, and Randy Moss and received Antonio Gates. So now my entire team looks like: Carson Palmer Kurt Warner David Carr Larry Johnson Willis McGahee Cadillac Williams DeShaun Foster Torry Holt Anquan Boldin Antonio Gates Dallas Clark I know 5 of my keepers. Carson Palmer, Larry Johnson, Torry Holt, Anquan Boldin, and Antonio Gates are those 5. My dilema is who is my 2nd RB to keep? Willis McGahee or Cadillac Williams? There will not be a RB like either of them available in the draft so that really isn't an option. I am leaning towards keeping Cadillac. Any suggestions?
  2. QUOTE(WinninUgly @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 04:40 PM) What about Byrnes as a replacement for Perez, and Bradford as a replacement for Viz if the price is right? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So the Rays just got Burroughs for absolutely nothing? Interesting. The Padres would want to be rid of Burroughs that badly?
  3. Thanks for your advice guys. I am going to go with Jackson and Gore. Moats is not available. Houston sucks. Turner may not play much.
  4. QUOTE(TLAK @ Dec 21, 2005 -> 05:33 PM) The New York Yankees. While we're at it, name me the last team that changed over 1/3 of the team and DID repeat. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They did? When?
  5. Please pick 2 out of this mess. 3 points for every 20 rushing yards. 3 points for every 20 receiving yards. 6 points for every TD. Thanks guys. Steven Jackson, Rams vs. 49ers Frank Gore, 49ers vs. Rams Tatum Bell, Broncos vs. Raiders Jamal Lewis, Ravens vs. Vikings Greg Jones, Jaguars vs. Houston
  6. Terrible move if you ask me. I liked the Mueller, Furcal, and Nomar moves, but this made absolutely no sense. Kenny Lofton is over the hill and overrated defensively. They should have just kept Marquis Grissom when they had him if they were going to go in this direction. He would not be a very good #2 hitter, plus I thought that was Mueller's job. Isn't there a better RF option out there? They would then be able to move Drew to CF. That makes more sense to me.
  7. Catching prospect Billy Killian was also sent to the Rangers.
  8. You can trade non-tendered players? I thought that if you non-tendered them then they were basically free to negotiate with other teams. I didn't know the team still had rights to you. I have no idea how this works, that is why I am asking.
  9. QUOTE(Felix @ Dec 20, 2005 -> 09:28 PM) Because Washington is pitching heaven and he doesn't like the way the Cubs are headed? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah ok. Has he said that he doesn't like the way the Cubs are headed? Washington is headed in the right direction? Give me a break.
  10. Why is this even being discussed? It is obvious that this reporter just made this crap up. Kerry Wood has a no trade clause. Why would he approve a trade to Washington? That is just insane.
  11. QUOTE(AnthraxFan93 @ Dec 19, 2005 -> 05:34 PM) Rafael Soriano. Why not give hima shot if we can?? If I am not mistaken this guy has great stuff just had health problems... Herm will fix him! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Soriano is available? s*** I agree. Take a chance on him, at least for a bullpen spot. He is definitely worth it.
  12. QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 18, 2005 -> 04:42 AM) XM carries Major League Baseball. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So does MLB.com. For free. The only way that isn't the same for me is if I am in my car. I have my PC hooked up to my entertainment system. Is there another reason XM would be better than Sirius? Sirius has NFL, NHL, and NBA plus Howard Stern.
  13. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Dec 17, 2005 -> 01:40 AM) Rooney is a Missouri Native...Sirrius, please XM RULES!!! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> xm over sirius? in what way? i would love to hear why.
  14. QUOTE(YASNY @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 06:16 PM) So why the hell couldn't they pay John Rooney the same money to do the Sox games that they are paying him to do the Cards games? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I heard the Cardinals job was his dream job. Is he from the St. Louis area?
  15. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 05:52 PM) xm satellite radio... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> f*** XM. Sirius is better. You can always listen live on MLB.com and save a ton of money by not buying XM.
  16. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 03:02 PM) 3 times=3 people. Sorry. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> At least 3 times that I know of. And you have nothing to base their knowledge of baseball other than that they have a different opinion than yours about a particular subject. Pretty foolish to think you have a better understanding and knowledge of baseball just through that. Anyway, carry on.
  17. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 10:58 PM) Read the thread first before you want to make a general statement about me. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have read the thread. This is not the first time you have used this comment against someone. You have used it at least 3 times that I know of. It is ridiculous to think that you know more about baseball than anyone else here.
  18. QUOTE(TLAK @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 01:04 AM) I appreciate your rant but feel you underrate the contribution the departed players made. The White Sox traded away or non-tendered 49 HR and 185 RBI from the 2005 team. The players they added hit 16 and 88 last year. Should Thome stay healthy and return to his career average the new guys would be at 49 and 169, plus what ever they pick up from who ever wins the Center Field derby. They traded away a combined 244 innings with a 4.43 ERA in the American League and an 18-18 record. They picked up 216 innings, 4.42 in the National League and an 11-18 record. The White Sox don’t have any proven arms to replace the relief pitchers so projecting the net effect on the pitching is a crap shoot. I think the White Sox are taking a great risk here. I was emotionally attached to the 2005 group, but that’s just my take and anybody else’s take on it is fine with me. But getting past that I’m having a hard time buying into all the love being showered on Kenny Williams. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The problem with your stats is that there was not any consistency at the positions you mentioned. Do you really care that we rid ourselves of our 2 worst bullpen guys and a guy who is overpayed, did not want to be in the bullpen again this year, and could not start more than 5 innings or stay off the disabled list for the entire season? For that bunch of crap we received one of the best super subs in the game/left handed bat off the bench and one of the most durable pitchers in the game with a ton of potential. It is one thing to have proven arms and another to have proven suck ass arms. The Sox rid themselves of the proven suck ass arms and revceived a great return. How? I have no idea. Their offense gets better through consistency as well as having a proven lefthanded power bat. The lineup is more balanced.
  19. QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 10:43 PM) another cheap shot.... Look you guys can come out and say whatever about me...i'm pretty tough. it just hurts when i see you guys take it out on the other sox fans that is illnatured. and at best there is really no need for it at all. i think that TLAK was inappropriate with the EVIL remark and that should be reconsidered. thats all. no need for the verbal slams anymore for gosh sakes. no matter what we wont all agree on anything perhaps other than we are CHICAGO WHITESOX FANS. and happy ones at that. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> On a side note, when did verbal start to include the written word? I understand that it is accepted to be used that way, but I just remember it being used to mean the spoken word. Ah, whatever, just wondering. Off on my own little tangent.
  20. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 10:35 PM) Its a strange, strange world, beyond reality. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The way you write it seems to lead one to believe that you think you are the only one that knows about the game of baseball. You have told more than one person now that they don't know the game of baseball because you do not like their opinion. To think that you know more than anyone here is a pretty IGNORANT thing to believe. And how you get this belief about someone from a couple of posts a person makes on a message board about an opinion he/she has is beyond me.
  21. QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 02:03 PM) well here's my theory of why Mike North does morning drive... after him... the programming can only get better... and it does, Boers and Bernstein are the best listen in the city... especially after tomorrow... consdiering Howard Stern is going to Sirius <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So get Sirius!
  22. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 09:31 PM) http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=44396 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ok, OK, that is why I stated that I didn't know if it was mentioned or not. I am not going to go through pages of threads to find it. Just wanted to share the information I heard. Sorry for double posting the same story everyone!
  23. He is out of the running for the color radio position. He supposedly took his name out. I don't know if this has already been mentioned, but seeing as how many of us can't stand this guy I thougth I would let everyone know the information. Supposedly he was asked to leave his morning show, which is something he didn't want to do.
  24. Is this supposed to be a joke? I really can't tell.
  25. QUOTE(timotime @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 06:42 PM) i agree completely. it's the same as any other business- you have to spend $ to make more $. does anyone know what our payroll is going to look like if a reasonable tejada deal goes down? i cant even speculate because i dont know how much tejada is paid, can anyone else? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> How much has it really gone up? We resigned Paulie and landed Thome. Thome = Thomas and Everett + 1 mil? Paulie = 4 million dollar raise? Mackowiack is making less than Marte = -1.5 mil? El Duque + Vizcaino is how much less than Vazquez will make? It doesn't seem to me like it is that big of a jump so far. I could be wrong, but it doesn't seem to be. Does anyone have the exact numbers?
