  1. Hey, there are AD fans on here! God, I hope this ain't the series finale. The good news is, there seems to be a few suitors out there to pick up the show. The bad news is, the channel that was most likely to pick it up (Showtime) has reportedly broken off talks, citing the expense of the show. I mean, COME ON! There's always money in the banana stand! Anyways, I'm looking forward to 2 hours of Arrested tomorrow.
  2. Thought this was pretty funny. Apparently, Harvard is calling out Ozzie for his comments... From the Harvard Crimson
  3. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Feb 7, 2006 -> 11:51 AM) How about we go all the way to the begining and look at Buehrle's performance vs Seattle.... I think we won that game with 2 Konerko HR's. Yes, I was waiting for somebody to mention this performance. I was at the game. Was almost pissed off cause we missed the first inning and the game was only an hour and a half long. Mark was doing his thing and I missed about two innings while I was at a concession stand. Basically saw about 45 minutes worth of baseball. DAMN YOU MARK BUEHRLE!!! By the way, Buehrle only gave up 3 hits in that game. Take a wild guess on who hit them all.

  5. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 1, 2006 -> 11:48 AM) flyingsock.com I guess you're not seeing it on your end, but on my end its coming up with some scary picture about stealing bandwidth. No big deal to me. Just thought I'd let you know that some aren't seeing your photos.
  6. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 1, 2006 -> 11:35 AM) huh it faced the skyline. Rock, I'm not sure where you are getting these pictures from, but somebody ain't happy about it.
  7. While I don't dislike the blue seats, I definitely prefer the green. I don't think many complained about the blue seats because it made the park look drab. I think the problem is that it just looked cold, so to speak. It never seemed to have that welcoming, old-time baseball feel to it. Which is exactly why I prefer the green seats. I may be wrong, but the old ballparks as I remember them always had green seats. I'm not sure if it makes it look better. It just makes it look like the way it should be, if that makes any sense. Either way, its really a dopey arguement. Its all a matter of personal preference. The only thing I'll argue with is the whole "copying Wrigley Field" s***. Its not like they started the usage of green seats. If we wanted to make it like Wrigley, we'd make the place smell like urine and sell crappy food. Either way, as long as there are people sitting in them, it really doesn't matter all that much.
  8. Could Kenny make another move or something? I think we could use something meaningful to argue about.
  9. He's gonna look awfully funny in those white shoes. Anyways, best of luck to Frank.
  10. Seemed like this belongs in the "Off-season grades" thread. This is from cbsportsline.com: Winners, losers and Royals: You don't want to be a Royal Sox are one of the winners... And this guy was pretty hard on the Cubs. Almost too hard. Didn't even mention the Pierre pickup, and I wouldn't go as far as to put them in the D-Rays ranks...
  11. I would have picked Boston to be a bust, but it seems like the majority of "experts" think they've already fallen behind the Blue Jays as far as expectations go. It'll be a bigger surprise if they win the division than if they don't even come close. But they still have Manny and Big Pappi, so I guess anything is possible. (Here I go again, arguing with myself)
  12. AL Sleeper: Tigers Bust: Angels NL Sleeper: Brewers Bust: Dodgers Just a hunch.
  13. Not sure if any of you remember this guy, but he was on the Sox during the late '80s/early '90s. I remember him being one of the few bright spots of the '89 season. Anyways, here's the story...
  14. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 11:24 PM) He sucked that badly. He will be champion whipping boy until replaced. I doubt anyone ever comes close to Timo(though had the Sox signed Jose Macias, you would see the king in flesh and blood) I would say that if Borchard makes the team, he could fill the whipping boy role quite nicely.
  15. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jan 22, 2006 -> 04:25 PM) wow, go away. you called the pitcher a picture... Wow, you stated the obvious.
  16. Best Sox reporter? We don't get the Southtown up in the NW burbs, so I don't know much about Cowley. I'm partial to Scot Gregor of the Daily Herald. I might be a little bias due to the fact that our pay checks come from the same place, but I really think he does an excellent job. To expand this a little, I really think the best overall Chicago baseball writer is Phil Rogers. Yes, he works for the so-called "Cubune", but he's never hesitated to tell it like it is about the ballclub up north, and he always seems to have some very good insight regarding both teams. He'll occasionally throw out his "Sam Smith Style" trade suggestions, but as can be seen in the Trade Winds, they often inspire some lengthy debate. And with the way he's been talking about the Sox lately, you'd think he was in the Sox PR department. Then again, theres nothing really negative to say at the moment. Anyways, I don't think you can go wrong with either Gregor or Rogers.
  17. QUOTE(Reddy @ Jan 19, 2006 -> 11:03 AM) well... um... as far as keeping his job... well... he WAS just signed a couple days ago so um... i'd say thats probably a good indication that he is um... keeping his job Um...yah...
  18. For what its worth, another SI writer had high praises for our moves, specifically the Vazquez deal. The five best -- and worst -- moves of the offseason
  19. I have absolutely no idea if the batting order shuffle will work, but there is some logic to Uribe moving into the two-hole. 1. Uribe was tied for 2nd in the AL in sacrifice flies, and tied for 3rd in sacrifice hits. With Podsednik being the constant threat to steal, we are looking for a hitter willing to sacrifice his share of at-bats. If Uribe continues this trend, he could fill the role pretty well. 2. The other line of thinking is that batting in front of Thome and Konerko could really benefit Uribe. Its possible that being placed in front of the big boppers might give him better pitches to hit. For a free-swinger like Uribe, this could lead to a pretty productive year offensively. Now, I'm not sure how much stock to put into the two examples listed above, but my guess is that this may be part of what Ozzie is thinking by moving him up the order. Could it fail? Of course. And I'm sure that if Ozzie and Co. sense that Uribe batting 2nd ain't gonna work, they'll make a change. As I've been saying for quite a while, I'll give Ozzie the benefit of the doubt.
  20. Me gets the feeling that Mr. Neyer hasn't done his homework.
  21. This was on the main MLB page of ESPN.com. Nothing new really, but its a good read from Phil Rogers.
  22. I said this last year when they picked up all those Spring Training games, and I'll say it again...God bless Comcast Sports Net! I still doubt there is another team that offers that many televised ST games. Am I right? EDIT: Probably should have read the article beforehand. It appears we are the only team that does this.
