QUOTE(longshot7 @ Jan 17, 2006 -> 03:25 PM) Huh? Crede does not have a mullet. His hair was shaggy all over - not long in the back/short in the front. Well, he himself called it a mullet (I recall him thanking his "mullet" in his speech at the parade), so I'm just running with it. Either way, Shaggy Crede >>>>>>>>non-Shaggy Crede.

I hope there's something in this contract that forbids him from cutting his mullett.

QUOTE(TLAK @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 11:49 PM) Conteras is 35-18 lifetime (he was 13-7 with the Yanks) considerably better than Vazquez ever was. He was traded for Estaban Loiza who was having trouble with Ozzie, it was a case of trading 'problem' for 'problem' as both of their managers were mad at them, a far cry from the value he gave to the DiamondBacks. El Duque and Vizcaino both made large contributions to the championship, don't underrate them. I buy your concern out Hernandez's age but Vizciano will likely stay a good pitcher for years to come, and I note is above .500 in his career. The jury is out on Chris Young but he is highly rated by the scouts, who knows? Funny you mention Cameron because that is one trade that really did work for everybody. If all Chris Young turns out to be is another Mike Cameron, then I'll be completely content with this trade. If you ask me, Cameron has been pretty overrated his entire career.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 06:23 PM) It was either Pearl Jam's Vs., Soundgarden's "Superunknown", or Stone Temple Pilot's "Purple". I honestly don't remember which was first. I get the feeling that we're around the same age. I know that Vs. was the first album I ever purchased, and I'm pretty sure that I bought Superunknown shortly after. I still think that Vs. is the PJ's best.

I own most of them, and I think the Sporting News did by far the best job. Photos you won't find anywhere else, great coverage of the regular season to go with great playoff coverage. I also got the added bonus of gettin ahold of one of these... Apparently, the special edition of the Sporting News version is pretty rare. My sisters boss, Arlington Park chairman Dick Duchossois (yes, I am a random name dropper), was able to get his hands on one of these and gave it to her. Pretty sweet!

QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 04:40 PM) No "its not delivery it's Bajenaru" is bs. I'm just happy to not see Steve Perry on there. One would think now Chris Singleton will get added to the list, but then again, Score may not be able to swing that xtra scratch for such an elite showcase. At the end of the Singleton interview on Sox Weekly on Saturday, Rongy (spelling?) told Farmer and Singleton that he'll see them both at SoxFest. I'm assuming that Singleton will be there. Maybe they'll pair him with DJ during one of the seminars. That would be exciting!

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 15, 2006 -> 11:11 PM) Plus he had some sick tackles in that game. It seems that in recent years, when things go bad, Urlacher has been target #1. I've never really understood this. By the way, the Final Word on Fox just showed AJ Pierzynski on the sidelines sporting a Grossman jersey in the highlights.

The good news: Pitchers and catchers report to camp in about 4 weeks!

Funny thing is that his theory applies more to himself then it does to us. There's something twisted about Bobby Howry giving lectures on consistency.

As bad as Tillman looked out there, I put most of the blame on the coaching staff here. I'm sorry, but it doesn't take a genious to know that Tillman had no business being put on Smith. What is Tillman's biggest difficiency? His speed. What is Smith's greatest strength? His speed and ability to seperate from the secondary. And if you're gonna put Tillman on Smith, at least have the brains to not put single coverage on him. In my opinion, this game was clearly decided by our inability to have an answer to Steve Smith. He burned us in the regular season game...he burned us in the first drive of the game. You'd think one of our coaches would have made some kind of adjustment during that period of time. So obviously, my final verdict on this game is that we got out-coached.

Both teams are pretty even across the board. The thing that worries me is that our biggest disadvantage is probably the experience of our QB, compared to the playoff-tested and experienced Delhomme. I think its pretty obvious that our fate rests on Grossman. By the way, if you wanna see something frightening, check out NFL Countdown on ESPN. Michael Irvin is wearing what might possibly be the most hideous suit I've ever seen.

Well, its early, but somebody had to start a game thread. This game couldn't start soon enough. Fearless Prediction: Bears 14 - Panthers 10

QUOTE(AirScott @ Jan 15, 2006 -> 12:10 AM) that's unfortunate, I'll have to watch it this Monday (it's the season finale, I think that's what they said on Conan O'Brien) and look for re-runs. Well, if you actually plan on watching it, I must warn you that Fox (consistantly giving more reasons to hate them) keeps jerking the show around. They keep saying that it will run out the last few episodes, but they aren't saying when. If you really wanna know more, PM me. Otherwise, back to the topic at hand.

QUOTE(AirScott @ Jan 14, 2006 -> 11:59 PM) I knew Cubs fans who started out acting happy for the Sox, but after the Boston series and they looked for real began to root against the Sox and were demoralized after every Sox win. by the way, your signature is the one episode of Arrested Development I've watched, and the funniest episode of anything I've seen in a while. Amazing show that nobody watches. About to get cancelled. I felt like I'd be doing a disservice as a fan if I didn't make an attempt, no matter how miniscule, to get the word out. By the way, the time it shows in my sig is wrong. Mondays at 7:00pm. But thats enough show pimping for one night.

Some more priceless stuff from the Cub Convention today... Baker, Hendry go on fans' firing line

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Jan 14, 2006 -> 10:28 PM) Heard about this. Just makes me believe we probably could've held out for more for Damaso Marte like Edwin Jackson. It took Baez and Carter to get Jackson. Baez is twice the reliever that Marte is. No way we would have gotten a prospect of Jackson's calibur for Marte only. I think we did quite well with Mackowiak. Its hard to believe we would have done a lot better than getting one of the best bench players in baseball for Marte.

By the way, what the f*** is Bobby Howry's problem? New Cub Howry still taking shots at Sox Who pissed in his cereal? This ain't the first time he's said s*** like this.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jan 14, 2006 -> 02:22 PM) Everything White Sox is being booed at the Clown Convention apparently. Great to hear, so much for "they don't care about the White Sox". Thats exactly what I was thinking. Actually, that theory died during the playoffs. Basically every Cub fan I knew had a close eye on the games and were completely demoralized after every playoff win. I gets the feeling that Cub fans are gonna be awfully quiet during the Sox/Cubs games this year.

QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jan 14, 2006 -> 01:01 PM) Holy crap, you are correct. The box clearly says Game 2, score reads 2-1 Sox. They did that for AJ's play I guess. So the set is going to be Game 3 vs Boston with El Duque's heroics, then Game 2 of the ALCS with AJ's play, and the entire WS. Personally, I'd rather have the ALCS clincher. Game 2 of the ALCS, while the ending was great, was kind of agonizing. Especially watching the 900 replays of the AJ play and listening to Joe Buck's constant babbling about it. Oh well. Still a must buy.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jan 14, 2006 -> 12:41 AM) I've never gone to Soxfest since I'm never around at that time. Is it usually just the guys from America? That's what it looks like here, for the most part. Well, you'd figure that wouldn't exactly be convenient for players who spend their winters out of the country. Never really thought about it, but it does seem like not many foreign players show up. Oh well, cant really blame them. They spend the whole season far far away from their homes and family, so I doubt they're in a rush to fly into Chicago for a weekend. Either way, I've been going to this thing for a few years now, and this is by far the best lineup of current players that I've seen. Really looking forward to it!

Didn't see this posted anywhere, so here it is. They finally updated the list of those who will be attending SoxFest (at least the ones who have agreed to attend so far): SoxFest 2006

Well, it appears that this rumor doesn't have much life. During George Offman's scoreboard update, they talked about the rumor and actually played a clip of Paxson's response to it. Pax strongly denied that there were any talks with Boston and sounded quite pissed about the report. Went on to talk about false rumors in general and how they're irresponsible, among other things. -

QUOTE(hammerhead johnson @ Jan 13, 2006 -> 12:54 PM) No picks involved in that first scenario? No picks, at least according to Carmen & Silvy's rendition of the report. Although, I think we'd have to add the pick if it had any chance of happening...and I wouldn't have a problem giving it up. Ah, didn't think about that. Makes some sense now.
