I haven't changed my mind in thinking that he'll be a helluva pitcher, but he just flat out ain't ready. -

BMac looks very hittable. He's gotta learn how to keep the ball down, or he's gonna get hammered up here. Hell, it wasn't working very well down in Charlotte. I'm not getting down on the guy. Just sayin that he has plenty to work on. -
Don't know how long it will last, but Viscaino has actually been throwing well as of late.

QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 05:18 PM) OMG, WINODJ: I luv that buster avatar! Arrested Development is the bestest comedy out there. "You didn't eat that dove, did you?" Oh Gob. Carl Weathers? Get a stew going! Amen to that. "Nope, its not arsen. Definitely the work of a flamer."

QUOTE(Adam G @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 05:04 PM) It's good natured. He gives me s*** about the Sox when they're not doing well. His son plays with my dog. How bout, "Joe, thank you for your donation to the Prostate Cancer Fund." He may even take it as a positive spin to giving up the grand slam to Jeter.

Good News for Our Out of Towners
KevHead0881 replied to Al Lopez Ghost (old)'s topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(thomsonmi @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 03:26 PM) The good news here for me as an out-of-towner is that I can listen to Boers & Bernstein in between Silvy & Carmen and Mac, Jurko & Harry. As long as you have a special device in your head that mutes Terry Boers every time he speaks, you'll really enjoy Boers and Bernstein. -
From a poster on ChicagoSports.com... A sox fan has a program that pumps in 1500 votes at a time. These votes are meaningless. Submitted by: Fix Is In 6:04 AM CDT, Jun 20, 2005 ...sorry buddy. No program. Just pure determination.

QUOTE(TheDybber @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 02:40 PM) When you start looking behind you, you stop looking forward. I don't think you worry about Cleveland or Minnesota until you play them. Can't argue with that.

QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ Jun 20, 2005 -> 02:26 PM) If we go out there and handle our business then Cleveland and Minnesota can make all the noise they want to but we will still finish first. We win our games and the rest will sort itself out. Essentially the way I feel. I'd say we are almost at the point that if we didn't win this division, it would be considered a choke. We don't even have to win at the rate we are right now (If we did, we'd have 110 wins at the end of the season, imagine that). As long as we play steady ball and keep the losing streaks from getting too long, we should be in very good position.

With our history being as it is, I won't rest easy until we are about 10 games up near the end of August. While I'm not too concerned about the Indians at the moment, they are a pretty good team, and it wouldn't take a lot for them to make it really interesting. So yes, I consider them a threat. Not a major one just yet, but still a threat.
-
When Konerko comes out and directly says that Royce Clayton is a better player than Juan Uribe, then I think we should be concerned. But, who the hell knows how either feels about the other. The one thing I do know is that the comment that Konerko made couldn't be more overblown. If I were there to witness the interview, I'm sure this exact comment would've flown right over my head. I'm sure he said a whole bunch of things during that same interview that, if you try hard enough, you could interpret them in a negative way. Of course we don't know how Uribe feels about this comment. But I think there's a good chance that he's either saw nothing of it, or doesn't know it was said all together. This is simply something that this board decided to blow way out of preportion.

QUOTE(Stocking @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 09:12 PM) think you have to throw prior into the mix. Pre elbow, shoulder, ankle injuries? Maybe. Not now though. I'd much rather have a guy who you'd know is going to pitch every 5 days and pitch well.

Yay, Anthrax is back! Unfortunately, so is his agenda.

If you guys wanna continue rigging polls, theres one on the front of chicagosports.com asking which series is more interesting: Sox/Dodgers or Cubs/Yankees.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 03:35 PM) I was looking for that quote yesterday, great great movie. Can never go wrong with a Major League quote.

All signs point to one Eddie Harris:

No story here. Players overly praise other players all the time. I remember Ozzie once saying that Scott Fletcher was the best 2nd baseman he ever played with. No biggie. I had a little bit of a problem when he openly called out Uribe during the Cub series, but I think this is making something out of nothing.

QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 08:47 PM) Um... I don't believe baseball is mentioned in the bible, so should Carl, like, you know, find a new career? (I kid, I kid) Not sure if there are many openings for shepards, but he could always get into carpentry.

Well, I did my part. Put AJ over the 200 mark.

Here's the article. Sox moving down the dial Loved this quote:

QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 03:27 PM) What? What? The Cubs draw more fans to thier park. The Cubs TV ratings are higher. The Cubs have more celebrity fans. Please keep me informed on this invaluable insight into this phenomenon. I just can't believe it. Cold Pizza must have some kind of scoop here with that information. When I think about the White Sox history, it really isn't the 85 years of losing that bothers me. Its really our deficiency in attendance, tv ratings and celebrity fans that drives me insane.

I prefer the MJH version: U.S. Comiscular Field

QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 02:35 PM) I like this, the 670 signal is so much better than 1000. I didn't think about this. Thats definitely a good thing. I've driven to Colorado a few times in my life and we can get the Score well into Nebraska. Its hard to get WMVP past Rockford.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 02:30 PM) ....I could do without Farmer, but oh well. The Sockless Wonder? Common!

Just keep Mike North out of the booth and I'm fine with it.
