  1. Durham could be a very good pickup, however, I want Ramirez playing on a daily basis at least right now. He's done nothing to show that he shouldn't be an everyday player and he's a very integral piece of this franchise (since there is zero depth in the middle infield in the organization, although Beckham can hopefully change that) who needs to be playing. However, you could make a case that Ray could get tons of ab's at 2B while Ramirez gets ab's at 2B as well plus CF while Konerko is on the DL. But this does essentially reduce Brian Anderson to bench play and right now I'm not a proponent about that (because I think now is a really good opportunity for the White Sox to see what Anderson is (a bench player who can provide tremendous defense, or a starting CFer).
  2. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 18, 2008 -> 08:57 AM) Gorzalanny walks a lot of guys. Hopefully, he doesn't have his control tonight and we can clobber him like we did with Snell. What I'm worried about is that he has a pretty good change-up and a nice slider. Those guys have given the Sox trouble forever. And oh yeah, he's a lefty. There's plenty to watchout for tonight. Welcome aboard!!!
  3. I'm really confused. Shortstop is the least of our worries, at least for this year. OC has played very well, both offensively and defensively. He had a slow start and some adjustment cramps but aside from that whats not to like about his performance.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 18, 2008 -> 06:56 AM) No way he made either of those plays on his own. Those are both called in the dugout, I would almost guarentee you. It took an above average play to get Johnson out. I thought he had gotten an infield hit but Longoria made a nice grab and Pena made an even better dig at first. That said, was it really a bunt? IFor some reason I thought it was a swinging bunt but I wasn't paying too close of attention to the highlights.
  5. Thibodeau is an amazing defensive coach. He did a brilliant job in Boston as did the players. Congrats Celtics, Congrats!!!
  6. Geeze, crazy he could win playing that injured. Definately adds to his growing legend. I was a huge Tiger hater but even I've came to appreciate and cheer for him. It will be interesting to see how he recovers and just how serious these injuries are. Also, in terms of a golf season, what exactly does that mean (is that like a full year or what, I honestly have on idea other than they've only played 2 of the majors).
  7. Nice win, nice win genteleman, but this thread must stay LOCKED!!!!! SHAZAM
  8. Russel still needs to find a way to develop better secondary stuff (the slider he has can be good at times, but too often it flattens out a bit because of the arm angle he throws it from). Either way I love watching good arms throw (and he's got a good arm). Awesome job by the offense to bail out Javy. Nice win Sox!!!!
  9. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 16, 2008 -> 09:56 PM) I haven't looked, but see if the Cards site has what he did tonight. Singleton was talking about how Ankiel should have hit the cut-off guy on those throws (he has a point too), but regardless those were some of the most ridiculous throws I've ever seen.
  10. QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 17, 2008 -> 05:27 AM) They should have fired him at the end of last season. They could have avoided all of this and probably would have had alot better start to this season. Completely agree. I'm actually rooting for Jerry because I think he's a solid GM. He did a good job early on in Chicago but he just wasn't the right guy for a couple of those slugging clubs the Sox had in the early 2000's (not 2000 though). Best of luck Manuel, kick some ass (but don't ever beat my White Sox).
  11. He's a Titan, you got to love him!!!
  12. I wish i was able to watch these games. Arggh.
  13. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Jun 14, 2008 -> 10:54 PM) Jason, Thanks for your donation! It's hard to believe the ride is less than two months away now, and I still feel so unprepared. My weekly mileage is now in the hundreds and my "short" bike rides are now approaching 20 miles each. This is still such an intimidating thing. My goal is just to finish this. And to raise more money. You can help with that last part. Keep it up Rex, Keep it up!!!!
  14. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 12, 2008 -> 07:25 AM) Please...please...please Thank you
  15. I'm not a big NHL fan, but the actual video game is amazing. Easily one of the funnest games of all time in my book.
  16. Bradley is ridiculously good at baseball when he's healthy. He's a nut job, but I kind of compare him to Carl Everett that he doesn't usually do anything too stupid that you almost just have to love him, LOL.
  17. Very cool story. Thanks for posting this. Looks like some real promising kids in that bunch. Tons of 16 year old arms that have great builds and are already hitting the low 90's. I highly doubt the Sox will be super involved in this area as they have yet to sign anyone internationally for 7 figures, but you never know. There are a few very highly touted venezuelan guys and having Ozzie on board could be one of those things that gives the Sox a bit of an edge (but they'll also have to offer up some $$$).
  18. Lofton makes a lot of sense, especially if one of the big poppers goes down. If its Swisher, Lofton slides into the top of the order; If its Dye, Swisher sliders over and Lofton plays CF (or Quentin moves to RF and Lofton plays LF); If its Paulie, Swisher moves to 1B and Lofton plays CF; If its Thome, you can use a lot of guys at DH and let Lofton get OF time.
  19. The biggest question with Russel has always been the effictiveness of his secondary stuff. He has a tremendous arm but has been very inconsistent with his breaking stuff. The main reason is that he tends to change arm angles and those variations can actually hinder you being able to throw a consistent breaking ball. At times its been a solid pitch (and when you combine it with the fastball which he throws from multiple arm angles) you are talking about a guy with the ability to be a good major league reliever. When it isn't there, he can be a bit more of a one pitch pitcher. Cooper should be able to help Russ out a bit though (in terms of consistency, plus the org is pretty good at developing variations to a guys good pitches). In terms of Elo, I wouldn't be shocked if they DL'd him. Coop got to see enough of him and now he and Hermy can put together a plan to rebuild Elo's velocity (I remember Cooper saying they thought they could) and he'll work on that and follow through with that on the DL (with the goal of getting him back later on this year). Than again, the Sox have a great relationship with Esteban and may have just told him the reality is they can't really promise anything based on what they have left and released him for that reason (so Esteban can try to catch on elsewhere or whtaever).
  20. Happy Bday Dannyboy. Hope its a stellar one!!!
  21. QUOTE (29andPoplar @ Jun 12, 2008 -> 05:47 PM) One thing about Adam Russell, he comes right at you and isn't afraid of the bat, like MacDougal. His control hasn't been the best in AAA though, he's been walking a guy every other inning. I like him and hopefully he contributes. I really really like Russell's arm. I like this guy a lot and I think he's going to play some good baseball with the Sox. I don't know if he makes an immediate impact but long term he's going to be valuable piece of the Sox pen (maybe even this year, but definately in future years).
  22. I'm gone this weekend, but I'll use the force to lock it over the weekend!!!
