  1. I love soccer, especially when you are seeing people playing for the pride of there country. Freaking awesome. Now kick some ass Van Persie and my dutchmen!!!!
  2. The explosion happened so quick that I don't think there was really anything you could do. It was just like a wham bam...9 runs up on the board type of thing.
  3. Awesome late goal by the Dutch to send it into extra time.
  4. Wow, given the location and how Wise went oppo field that was some power.
  5. Where the heck is everyone. I figured the game was blacked out where I was but what a surprise, the game was on before the Fox blackout and its on WGN!!!!
  6. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 01:06 PM) You sound like Hawk. I'd say putting in Dotel and cutting Danks for URIBE is a far bigger risk than leaving in you're already cruising pitcher with a relatively low pitch count, especially considering some of the key f***ups Dotel has made so far this year. You aren't amongst the league leaders in K's/9 inning because you suck. Dotel has blown some games, but last I looked thats the nature of being a 7th/8th inning guy. The big concern I have over him is questionable control but he didn't give up the runs because of walks, he gave them up cause he didn't have his "A" stuff. Sure he doesn't throw mid 90's, but you don't get that many bats to miss a night on accident. Its also funny how you forget all the key moments he's had this season. Just like a lot of you who are ripping Crede today seem to forget the all around great year he's having.
  7. QUOTE (WCSox @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 01:03 PM) I could see pulling Danks for Thome against a righty in the 7th, but certainly not Uribe. I realize Thome draws walks, but why would we ever waste Thome's bat off the bench to start the inning (unless we are talking about a one run game). Otherwise the smartest thing you can do is hold Thome's bat as long as possible (saving him for a situation where he could potentially have a significant impact on the game).
  8. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 01:02 PM) Oh, yeah... I forgot that Danks hasn't faced any righties or the heart of the order yet today... From a predetermined standpoint, Ozzie made a (2, actually) terrible move(s), simple as that. Its pretty evident the more times through the lineup, plus the added fatigue, and its only going to get more difficult to get guys out. Bottom line is I wouldn't have had a problem if Ozzie went either way because you could make the argument that either move makes sense. The only time there is legitimate reason to question a call (as far as I'm concerned) is if there is no rationale reasoning behind such move.
  9. QUOTE (TheBigHurt @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 12:58 PM) Why isn't it? If he's cruising and fairly low in pitch count, WHAT reason can you have for taking him out, and especially for Uribe, who's a terrible hitter? The fact he got a hit doesn't even matter. It was a terrible decision. It was also pretty bad to not put in Linebrink instead of Dotel in a situation like this. Some of you guys don't realize in the NL things work a lot differently. Ozzie didn't want to give up an out so he went with a pitch hitter. You factor that in with the idea that Danks was going to be facing all righties and the heart of the order (plus 2 runs isn't near enough of a lead that early in the game) and it makes sense. Whether it turns out to be right or wrong, who knows, but the bottom line is the move made sense and as far as I'm concerned thats all I can ask of my manager.
  10. Wow, apparently Crede and Dotel both just suck. Give me a break people, its a game, one day of a long season. Look at there track record throughout the season (and this is coming from someone who isn't a big Dotel fan). Take some breaths and relax, this is anyone's game.
  11. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 20, 2008 -> 03:07 AM) I remember hearing that this Thome guy sucks, didn't I? I'm hoping he makes me eat crow, but I also remember even in all my b****ing posts that I said at the end of the year his stats will be there. I just think his stats are a bit over-rated to an extent. That said prove me wrong Jimmy, prove me wrong.
  12. I've always been surprised Gaston hasn't gotten another shot. I remember he was considered strongly by the White Sox when Manuel was oustered (in fact, I remember some discussions where they thought about bringing in Gaston to help Ozzie out or even have Gaston come in with Ozzie learning under him).
  13. I want some good pbp. Come on Danks..be Danksy!!!! I'm gonna be cursing up at work (yesterday was a flat out disaster) so I'm hoping the Sox can help calm me down or even get me a little excited (in the good kind of way).

    Films Thread

I saw only one article on Get Smart but it ripped it almost as bad as Love Guru is getting ripped. Love Guru might possibly be the worse movie ever made (basing that solely off previews, which couldn't even get a chuckle out of me).
  15. Alright Mahin...Titan power baby!!!
  16. Out of curiosity I see no mention anywhere really that indicates Rose is a lock to the Bulls. I think the Bulls are going to give a good hard look at Beasley and I wouldn't be at all shocked if he ends up being the guy.
  17. Just following on gamethread, but this has been pretty impressive.
  18. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 19, 2008 -> 12:04 PM) I might be in the minority, but if we could sign Crede, I would deal Fields in a heartbeat for a big named player. I don't hink the Sox need another all or nothing guy in the line up. Regardless of what happens with Crede, I'd move Fields for talent (minor league or major league). Fields won't live up to his hype (imo).
  19. Complete makeover. I remember when Riggleman was the manager of the Cubbies.
  20. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 18, 2008 -> 09:05 AM) Thats a really fair post, and agree with the Ram assessment, however part of me thinks Lexi is on a steak here, and will come back down to earth. If he doesn't, outstanding, Williams found a real gem, but not sure if thats realistic at this point. It's June 18th. More than a month to determine where we stand. By then, you will have a much better idea where we stand with Lexi, as well as if Durham is really having a bounce back season, and is still healthy. At some point two months of productions no longer becomes a streak but something a player is truly capable of (well, he may never be a consistent .340 hitter, but you don't hit like that on accident). He just has a lot of natural ability and baseball instincts. He seems to find holes on ocassion but I also think it fits in with the type of player he is and while he won't keep hitting .340 (or at least it is doubtful he will), I wouldn't be shocked if he just kept getting better and better from an all-around stand-point. As far as I'm concerned, Ramirez and Quentin are the two brightest stars in the Sox young everyday playing ranks. They are on a whole nother level than a guy like Josh Fields.
