  1. Ugly...Quentin...ugly. Alright Mac, man up and pitch over this. Show us you can do it.
  2. QUOTE(daa84 @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 07:45 PM) anyone miss chris carter? Carter is an above average prospect, but Quentin is an even better prospect (just as much power potential or at least close to as much with his other tools being better than Carter's). The only difference is Quentin was more ML ready and played a position of need, while Carter was more raw and played 1B (which is an easier position to fill than any position in baseball, imo).
  3. QUOTE(JorgeFabregas @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 07:41 PM) Where's he gonna play? You never know what can happen. Sox could get a tremendous offer for Konerko or move Dye in the off-season. You just never know. I'm not saying it will happen but there are always options that may not be around today that end up showing up. Plus injuries are a part of the game and can pop up and when that happens you have a guy to call up who can play OF/1B/3B (albeit none of them above average defensively). After the home opener I wouldn't be opposed to giving Dye a day off (with BA playing CF, Swisher sliding over, and Quentin playing RF). I think the Sox need to be aware of Dye's age and make sure to keep him fresh (need to do the same with Thome).
  4. QUOTE(SoxWS05 @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 07:39 PM) Nice to see OOribe get in the action It should be pointed out that Jon Miller is the only person who actually pronouces Uribe's name correctly. I know I don't, haha.
  5. BA needs a quieter head and if he does that he should be pretty solid offensively. It may also be that he's pressing and pulling his head all over too. He definitely got some pitches to drive in that AB but I still must say I'm more impressed with him now than ever before (despite him being 0-2 with a K).
  6. QUOTE(lostfan @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 07:35 PM) Holy s*** that looked like it was leaving the park. Quentin is going to be an offensive machine, any reservations I had about him not having proved anything at the MLB level are gone now. If he stays healthy, he'll have at least a few All Star seasons. I may be getting a little crazy with that, but he has a quick bat, good eye, and all the defensive tools. Crede with another hit...4 hits and 3 RBI's for Joe. This is just such a complete lineup. It is a little slow, but other than that it has a lot of power, some solid average guys, some OBP guys, and a nice mix of lefties/righties.
  7. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 07:34 PM) Oh God Carlos, you're gonna turn me gay. Don't do it Alex...you are a curse to players. Baj...gone....Bullard...gone....Egbert DL....Bikowski...Gone....BA...Bench Duty. So just say no Alex. Go pick a Tiger to root for
  8. Hells yes...Quentin a 3 run triple. I f***ing love QUENTIN!!!!
  9. QUOTE(kjshoe04 @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 07:32 PM) I'd imagine we did near the beginning of the year. We really weren't so bad at the start last year. The bullpen was lights out the first month of the season. The wheels came off after that (injuries and piss poor pen did were the culprates). Rotation looked rock solid early on too, but than eventually came crashing apart as well (but it was after everything else had tanked). Offense was bad all year though. Sweet, Quentin's up and is going to hit a gapper.
  10. He definitely has an explosive bat. I look forward to seeing him get stronger (I would think being able to workout with better trainers and equipment should help him out with that). Plus having a fat pay check.
  11. Badass...despite blowing yesterday's game the Titans came back from a 4-0 deficit to have a major conference series win (road series to boot) against the #5 Anteaters of UCI. I'd say Fullerton will move up a couple spots in the polls (currently #25). Christian Colon (future major leaguer) is continuing to get more and more comfortable and Josh Fellahauer is a guy everyone in baseball should get more and more familiar with (he's a freaking stud out in CF...hits for average, power and can run).
  12. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 07:25 PM) Not at all. I hate it when people say they are "cautiously excited". It's f***ing baseball. Get excited! Last season makes this so much more enjoyable. That and my new approach to just enjoy every game (find a way regardless) cause this is the best sport in the world and its awesome to watch.
  13. Nice...I'd either stick with Mac or turn it on over to Thornton or Masset (I find no flaw in going to Masset today, knowing that Javy is going tomorrow as he should still be in okay shape to be an inning eater in the case that Danks gets roughed up in his start). And if Danks pitches good than Masset will be perfectly set to go (without being rusty) if either Jose or Floyd have shorter outings.
  14. QUOTE(BurlyMan56 @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 07:23 PM) Is it too early to be giddy at this point in the season? After last year and how bad things were, I think it would be foolish to not get excited right now (obviously not overly excited, but why not enjoy the early success). Hopefully they keep it up all season.
  15. Wow...a changeup from Mac. Never thought I'd see that.
  16. He definitely looked better and if someone goes down I'll be semi confident that he can fill in. Its just hard for me to see how he can play significantly since it would mean one of Swisher/Quentin/Dye is either hurt or sucking horrificly. I could really go for a nice inning out of Mac here (it would be huge for Mac's confidence, imo). Get him going early and I think we'll see him rocking most of the season. He has such nasty stuff, there is no reason he shouldn't be one of the best relievers in baseball (unless of course he's on the DL and given his history that is always possible).
  17. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 07:16 PM) I guess thats my issue all together. If he is going to be up here, get him AB's. If not, send him down. I agree he needs to be in AAA right now, and thought that all of ST. However, they have put him on the 25 man. If that is the choice they made, then give him AB's. Personally I'm hoping they just had a few more things to work with him on and are going to send him down shortly. I would actually like Ramirez/BA down in the minors with Bourgouis and Owens up (only if Owens is a backup/pinch runner).
  18. QUOTE(Jordan4life @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 07:16 PM) Yo Jason, change that sig my friend. I don't want to be reminded of 2007. What does it even say? I have sigs/images off (cause I ocassionally visit the site at work and don't want it to be too obvious with people seeing pictures all over the place).
  19. Swing looks a s***load better. Man is that a better looking swing. He still looks a tad long but this appears to be a workable major league swing (especially with the tools he has....speed, power ability, defense, etc). That said, there really isn't anything wrong with him spending some time in AAA further honing the swing and his approach. Robbed by Cabrera.
  20. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 6, 2008 -> 07:14 PM) BA in the game! I want to see this new swing. He has a lot more squat in his new stance (compared to his old stand straight stance).
