QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 12:13 PM) or maybe... Walt. The Ben flashbacks could tell us what was truly special about Walt. I kept thinking they were going to show back up (Walt and his dad) but I guess that isn't the case.
  2. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 10:46 AM) Suzuki? Which Suzuki did we pass up? I personally think Lucy has a shot to do well still (why I picked him up as an AAP), especially with Wiki and Gustav as the only people ahead of him. Nevermind, found him - Kurt Suzuki. His offensive numbers look similar to Lucy's, but Lucy's defensive numbers look better. I don't see anything in the few scouting blurbs I can find that are anything special. Why would Suzuki have been a better choice? Suzuki was all world coming out of Cal State Fullerton. Offensively he had the tools and defensively he did an excellent job with some very good Fullerton pitching staffs and the guy was a true leader on what IIRC was the national championship Titans squad. Attitude was plus Offensive ability was a plus Very good speed for a catcher. Lucy on the other hand didn't have that good of collegiate numbers, but from a tools perspective was a better physical athlete than Suzuki (whose no slouch himself, but Lucy had the ability to be a gold glover).
  3. Probably just something with your settings on Mozilla (maybe something changed) because we haven't made any changes and I'm running the latest version of Mozilla at home and IE at work and have no problems accessing the site on either.
  4. QUOTE(He_Gawn @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 04:59 AM) I heard he's actually all Iowas to lose. Ya, I had heard he wasn't a fan of McDermott and because of that people are thinking he'll land in Iowa City.
  5. We are still working on the rotation but it will likely be Mario and I involved in 2 out of every 4 shows, with Alex coming in and working with one of Mario and I for a show and than somewhere in that mix we'll run in hopefully one or two consistent guest hosts (ocassionally that may be someone to come in for FutureSox or Soxtalk pieces and other times it will be bloggers or other podcasters from other baseball sites/casts
  6. QUOTE(Spiff @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 09:39 PM) I want in on this. I need in on this. Good news...we are going to start having some guest hosts throughout the season so let me know Spiffster and we'll plan on getting you on for a few shows this year.
  7. QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 09:33 PM) Is there a jpeg of this logo floating around somewhere? Or would said banner maker have to rip it from the current banner? I'd shoot Glen something and see if he has a .jpg of it. (and by Glenn I mean goldy)
  8. Well I've finally fixed the podcast feed so people can now go back and subscribe via itunes. Oh and as far as Jose goes, I was simply sick of hearing so many people call him an ace because of what he did in the first half of last season. I am the type of person that thinks that guys need to have a proven track record before I start throwing around the "ace" term.
  9. QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 07:48 PM) Hey Jason... I probably asked you this before, but I forget. Why are you a fan of Chicago Sports? Are you from here? Have family here? I find it kinda odd... maybe a fan of 1 or 2, but the big 3? Half of my family (mom's side) is originally from the Southside of Chicago so somehow I ended up becoming a fan of all the Chicago teams (even though the only other real big sports fan in the family is my old man who is a diehard Dodger & Laker fan).
  10. QUOTE(Cali @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 03:32 PM) Jas, I'm driving to Irvine tomorrow night haha I gotta get get all my rich kid douche bag shots before I go, hopefully I can go to the doctor today. Don't want to catch nothing... Bahaha....what in gods name is going on in Irvine (Improv or something??) that is so great or terrible that it is forcing you to enter your terror zone. And more importantly, is it safe to say that your going to make a pitstop in Laguna Beach where you can see the sights of that infamous tv series

QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 02:35 PM) I didn't understand it as two movies for a while after the advertising and promotion began. They did a really poor job conveying that clearly. Anyone else going to see ATHF:MFFT this weekend? I definitely plan on seeing it because I'm a huge fan of the TV series. Don't know whether it will be this weekend or not though.
  12. I don't see a problem with it. In the same shoes I'd have done the exact same thing as Jose.
  13. I'd just like any new banners to utilize that sick Soxtalk.com logo that is on the current one. Other than that I always welcome new banners.

QUOTE(StrangeSox @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 08:40 PM) I thought the episode was average for a Lost episode (which is still damn good) until the last 5 minutes. Wow. Fantastic ending. Haven't had one like that in quite a while. Ya, it looks like the final 5 and than the season finale are going to be amazing. I enjoyed this past weeks episode, especially after the last five minutes.
  15. See Dan Patrick show (nothing is better).
  16. I got to see my first playoff hockey game tonight at the Honda Center and the atmosphere was really good and both teams came out sharp and intense for the first period and a half and than it seemed like there energies died and they started playing a real passive game as they just tried not to make mistakes. The Wild played good and there goalie came up huge, too bad he got checked by his own defense man with the end result being the game winning goal by the Ducks.
  17. QUOTE(danman31 @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 06:55 PM) That's bad news about Harrell. If the surgery was nothing major he wouldn't be pitching in Rookie Ball in June. Exactly, unless of course he ended up having the surgery after reporting to camp this spring (which may have been the case in which case you are only talking about 2 months till he's back). Still it will pretty much set it back a full season which stinks.
  18. QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 05:18 PM) Just a question... had Contreras pitched well on opening day or if you guys knew about these problems going on with him and his family right now, would you still have b****ed about him? Yes.
  19. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 04:27 PM) Hawk was in Boston last night for the reunion of the 1967? Red Sox. Yep, he will be back in the booth this weekend.
  20. I think the tough spot is that Charlotte's rotation looks to be pretty deep so those guys would have to go somewhere for spots in the rotation to open up. And yes, this is a great thing to be talking about (since it means the org actually has some pitching depth). Harrell is another guy I'm keeping my eye on. He struggled in Bham but prior to that promotion the guy was just ridiculous at getting ground ball out after ground ball out.
  21. Bday Wishes go out to one of this sites best posters, who happens to be a great admin over on the other boards!!!!!!!!! Hope its a good one
  22. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 01:17 PM) Garland was at the same velocity he was at in April of last year. You can clearly see his velocity in 2005 and the end of 2006 ws higher. Just like Jenks gets in the heat. Exactly. Jenks is throwing as hard, if not harder at this stage of the season this season as he was last year so I don't get the concern. It should also be noted that he threw a very similar velocity when he first joined the organization down in AA during the 05 season (although at the time I know some people may have attributed that to him having to build up his strength after missing the prior season with arm problems but it could actually be that he's the type of guy that takes a bit longer to build his arm strength). His command of both his heater and breaking ball have been far better. I just don't see why people are always jumping off a bridge. Everything is relative and I've been very pleased with the start of this season (considering the tough schedule). The club should probably have two more wins (the game they blew against the Tribe and last nights game) but I expect the team to learn from those mistakes.
  23. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Apr 9, 2007 -> 09:42 PM) I vaguely remember this Marshall kid from last year. Strange, we had two kids in Marshall and Castro that were close to major league ready and neither of them ever made it into the hunt for the LHR spot in ST last year. Just shows you that baseball is all about scouting, at all levels. I don't know if a guy that was as old as Marhsall could be considered major league ready (considering he was kicking butt down in A ball last year). However, he has a gimmick motion and looks to throw strikes and get movement so there is a solid bet he turns into a decent loogy (of course I'm not a big fan of guys that project to pretty much only get lefties out).
  24. QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 02:30 PM) Just kinda a random question, but how do the tv stations in california air all the Padres, Giants, A's, Dodgers, and Angels games? Here's how it works. In San Diego you get the Padres games and I don't know if you have access to the Dodgers/Angels games (without having the package). In LA & OC we do not have access to the Pads game, however we have two Fox sports channels that broadcast Angel/Dodger games so we can watch whichever game we chose. Up north in Oakland/San Fran it is very similar to how it is for the Angels/Dodgers in the sense that they can watch either team they want to (both games are televised). Its basically the same as how the Cubs/Sox are. You also have to realize that Oakland/San Fran are very close to each other but are about 9-10 hours away from Orange County (8-9 away from LA county).
