  1. Great play and that was not a bad inning, aside from Beltre's ball there wasn't a hard hit in the inning and I didn't see Russel give up any hard hits period. He looked real good, varied velocity but he definitely still needs to work on that slider.
  2. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 01:36 PM) I'm having absolutely no problems with it right now. I'm pissed, I just tested my bandwith while I'm streaming to boot and it is 3447 kbps (420 is the recommended for the 350 too)...yet half of the pitches, the thing freezes up and than I just get to see the guys field. I am ready to throw s***.
  3. QUOTE(BearSox @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 01:29 PM) can you increase the picture size for yours? Ever since I got the new windows media player, I can't or just don't know how. Ya, down in the left part of the mlb video thing there is a button that lets you go to full screen. Too bad half the f***ing pitches I don't see, I just hear the bat crack and than it pans to the players fielding. And my connection is plenty fast so that ain't the issue. Great to know mlb hasn't solved s***. This is the exact reason I hated mlb.tv the past couple years, half the f***ing time you don't even get to see the game.
  4. QUOTE(BearSox @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 01:27 PM) Ramirez is looking good. Everyone was saying that the Ramirez for Soriano trade was a bad one for Seattle, but Ramirez can really help out their rotation. I was always a Horacio Ramirez fan. I'll take the lefty starter when healthy over Soriano but i was one of the very few that said that and I'd admit its a risky as hell deal. But in general, give me the starter over the reliever. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 01:28 PM) If Harcio Ramirez were on our ballclub he would have been tagged by the opposing team. He appears to be nothing more than another soft tossing lefty responsible for giving our lineup fits. I don't know if his stuff has detiorated from when he first came up with the Braves but Horacio would pile up the strikeouts and give up very few hits (had problems with control) but he would kick some butt and than always get hurt.
  5. QUOTE(BearSox @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 01:24 PM) So you got it up? Ya, I still hate mlb.tv though. I really do, the quality is s***. The 700K better work good during the regular season.
  6. f***ing mlb.tv won't work for me for some f***ing reason. Got I hate this s***. Thankfully your link just saved me from throwing my computer.
  7. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 01:17 PM) That last breaking ball he threw was filthy. Flash...you'll see why I think he's quite possibly the biggest sleeper in the org. He's got some gas on his fastball, throws from multiple arm angles, and has a few breaking balls (albeit they are far from polished and I think the multiple arm angles has probably hurt or at least hampered the growth of his breaking balls to a point), and the protypical pitchers frame.
  8. I am freaking pissed...why is this game not on mlb.tv. If it is a comcast game shouldn't we be able to get it on .tv. BOOO MLB...BOOO.
  9. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 12:55 PM) Broadway is a poor man's Garland, at best. If I'd compare any of our arms to Jon Garland it would be Gavin Floyd. I don't really have any great comparisons for Broadway...Id' say at his best an old version of Mussina (ie the lower velocity Mussina, not the power Mussina from his Oriole's days). McCulloch, well its just way too early but I'd guess at his peak someone like Brad Radke. Josh Fields - Joe Crede (offensively I think they have very similar tools and defensively Fields has a lot of nice tools too but its hard for me to say he'll be as good as Crede; both had pretty long swings at similar stages in there career). That said I can buy a bit into Fields swing being similar to that of Rollins, albeit by no means am I comparing the two and I must admit I'm starting like Josh more as a prospect. Gio - poor man's Barry Zito isn't too terribly off but I don't think he'll ever have that curve nor do they have even comparible body types. I'd go more along the liens of a healthier Jim Parque. I say that in the sense that I always thought Parque, when healthy, was a pretty solid pitcher. Danks - Scott Kazmir, minus a bit of velocity. That may seem like an odd comparison but I like Danks a lot and while he doesn't have Kazmir's velocity and they don't have similar repetoires I think they look similar on the mound and I think Danks has some deception to his fastball. I'm a big Danks fan. Either way I actually think we have some guys that should be fun to watch develop. Oh and Ryan Sweeney....Garret Anderson and I think you'll see Sweeney have similar progression where he begins as an average hitter with little HR power and eventually learn to turn on selected pitches and develop 20-30 HR power. Oh and Sweeney will be 100 times the defensive player Anderson was. Biran Anderson - Torri Hunter or Torri Hunter lite, depending on how his offense comes along. Both had horrendous swings at similar stages of there careers although I am one to admit I haven't seen many guys with Anderson's talent look as brutal as him at the plate. He's singlehandedly had some of the worse AB's at the major league level that I've ever seen out of a guy who actually had plenty of time in AAA (at least by a legitimate prospect. Note: I'm making these comparisons as if they live up to pretty much there fullest potential. And I'm not implying whether I think that will happen or not.
  10. Brandon Wright looked real good. He is on my radar for a guy I wouldn't mind on the Bulls. He needs to add weight but he has some nice low post moves.
  11. you guys may be screwed because NC State is making some kind of comeback. Well UNC is going close this out barring some sort of miracle which makes bubble teams breath a bit.
  12. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 10, 2007 -> 08:33 AM) For comparison's sake Illinois has: 1. Better RPI 2. Better SOS 3. 2-1 Head to head over Indiana 4. More Big Ten wins 5. 7-3 in their last ten over 5-5 6. Better on the road (9-7 vs 5-10) 7. 3 more wins overall Indiana has: 1. More signature wins 2. Less losses Not as close as it seems. If there is one thing I've learned over the past couple years is how much signature wins matter.
  13. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 10:53 AM) Standford beat UCLA, Wash St., Oregon, those are good wins. All three of those wins are better than any one win Illinois had. That is why you will have people considering Stanford. Bottom line it pays to schedule and play good teams and no it wasn't Illinois fault fully as the big ten in general was weak but they didn't exactly have a top notch non conference schedule this year. I still say Illinois probably in because I think they have a good enough resume. The only reason I'm against Illinois and Purdue is because I think a lot of the wins are thanks to playing in a terrible conference and having a lot of wins against cake teams.
  14. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Mar 11, 2007 -> 10:14 AM) Not really sure what the deal is with anyone having Stanford over Illinois. But we shall see. Well I am not saying Stanford deserves it over Illinois but I will tell you Stanford is the better team. They played in a far superior conference and have quite a few bigger/better wins and there big struggles game with there best player out and he will be back. That said I know that in the end its what you done that matters but if two teams are left they may just go down to whose the better of the two and no one is going to tell me Illinois is a better team than Stanford.
  15. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Mar 10, 2007 -> 03:11 PM) Watched Prior's outing on TV today. Cub or not, it's sad to see a guy who had so much promise look as bad as he does now. He topped out at 88, but mostly was at 87 with his fastball. His curveball wasn't very effective and couldn't throw it for a strike. Gave up 4 runs in three innings, 3 walks and no Ks But he pitched. I wouldn't write prior off. The guy has good mechanics and just really got screwed by the way he got broughten up with Baker just destroying young pitchers.

    "300"

i absolutely thought sin city was one of the biggest pieces of garbage ever and I just hope I won't end up thinking the same thing about 300. It looks like it may be overdone but I'll finally see it next weekend cause I've heard too many good things about it.
  17. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 9, 2007 -> 08:32 PM) agreed. And I'm a fan of the Big Ten. It's Wisconsin, Ohio State, and a bunch of mediocrity. I'd seriously have no problem if those were the only teams that got in. This conference is a joke this year.
  18. QUOTE(Cali @ Mar 9, 2007 -> 10:35 AM) Booooooo NorCal, Booooooooooo!!!!!!! Real shocker...the man hates everything but LA and I'm sure he hates half of LA. Your probably the real reason the OC got cancelled too. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 9, 2007 -> 12:01 PM) San Francisco is easily the best city in california, but running very close behind is san diego. Oakland flat out blows. San Diego >>>>> LA >>>> San Fran Just my opinion. I was far from enamored with the two times I've been to San Fran.
  19. QUOTE(hitlesswonder @ Mar 9, 2007 -> 01:56 PM) If he's the best bet to put wins on the board, he better be starting in the bigs. Some players can handle "being rushed" (Bonderman certainly has survived). I assume the worst case would be Danks heads north and gets slammed and is repalced in the rotation by someone like Haeger. I would hope that Danks would have the resilience to survive and pull himself together in AAA. If he doesn't, that's a sign he's not the guy Williams thinks he is. Just for reference, McCarthy debuted when he was 21 (Danks is 21 now) and got hit hard. And then he came back from AAA to be lights out down the stretch in 2005. If McCarthy could do it, Danks should be able to as well. Bondy also lost ~20 games his rookie season. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 9, 2007 -> 01:27 PM) Well, Danks has talent. Floyd? Not so much. Are you kidding me Flash? Floyd doesn't have talent? Have you seen this guy throw. He has plus stuff.
  20. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 9, 2007 -> 09:05 AM) That's about 2-3 mph faster than I've seen most people say he throws. Floyd has pitched at the MLB level and thrown in that 95 MPH range, however that was when he was one of the top pitching prospects in all of baseball with the Phils (probably 2 years ago). I vividly remember him having a real nice fastball and his hook was devastating. He lost a bit of velocity on his FB but I remember hearing from a few people that it was closer to his old range during the AFL (albeit he wasn't consistently throwing 95 nor do I know if he hit 95). I'd imagine he'll be in the 92-94 range once he gets loosened up based on the reports I heard on him from the AFL.
  21. Wow...HD Sox games in 08 for out of towners, that may be reason enough for me to think about switching to the dish a year from now (especially if I move out on my own).
  22. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Mar 9, 2007 -> 09:35 AM) If we can give up a Tracey, a Phillips or B prospects like that then its no risk. Giving up a Masset, a Logan, or MacDougal is just too much of a price to pay. I was not a big fan of Rowand when he was here, hitting 235 and 245 in the stretch run. His defense while spectacular during the Yankee series, was poor at the end of the season when he was breaking back on flyballs and then running like a madman to makeup for the fact that he played the swing, and not the ball. The best thing he will bring back to me, is his attitude and his friendship with the team. I wouldn't have a problem with that type of deal at all. The problem is I think the Phillies would want more, based on prior times Rowand's name has been involved in trade talks.
  23. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Mar 8, 2007 -> 06:23 PM) Absolutely INSIPID. Worst half of our season so far. Out rebounded by double figures by a smaller team. 4/12 from the line. Letting Ben Wallace and P.J Brown score in double figures combined in a half. Missed layups and turnovers around the basket. I hope they are getting ripped at right now. Brian Hill is on thin ice. I call it POWNED. Also, West Ham had an amazing game last weekend. It was one of the best EPL games I've seen all season, too bad they went down at the end and pretty much clinched the fact they won't be in the EPL next year (or I guess thats my understanding, you go down a league and than can come back up in a year???). And Arsenal is really struggling without its strikers. We have a lot of talented young guys but those younguns aren't able to capitalize and take advantage of scoring opportunities. Thanks to that we pissed away a game this past weekend and than lost our champions league game yesterday.
  24. QUOTE(striker62704 @ Mar 8, 2007 -> 04:16 PM) I know its spring training but our relievers (Jenks, Thornton, Macdougal, Sisco, Logan) have been lights out. Masset has been good too. I've been really impressed with Danks and Gonzalez, but haven't seen Floyd or Masset pitch. The jury is still out on Aardsma. Our starters appear to be solid, and I'm sure they will get better as the spring progresses. I love the fact that KW locked up Vazquez for 3 more years. Everyone has been freaking out about it but the key is the no trade clause. What KW did is lock a talented (though the numbers don't show it) pitcher up for the next 4 years for a very reasonable price (considering the market). This gives him leverage with the most important position in baseball, pitching. KW has turn into an "arms dealer" with all the pitchers he has. Thats why the door is still open for Buehrle. KW won't pass up good arms for the right price. I'm pumped baby. I'm just excited to be able to see some new faces and watch them develop and see if some stars will pan out. That said I also want to win and those young guys are going to have a lot of pressure on them. Here's to hoping they can do it
  25. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Mar 8, 2007 -> 07:02 PM) Although I have DirecTV, I'm switching to the MLB.tv package this year simply because I believe most of the WCIU games are on there (I know they advertise having every game on MLB.tv, the WCIU broadcasts are not on DirecTV) and it's also $40 cheaper annually (for the Premium package, the standard MLB.tv is $70 cheaper). I worried somewhat about losing the ability to DVR the games, then again, they archive all of the games on MLB.tv. I just hope the quality for the streaming 700K lives up to what I'm expecting it to be. I also like the idea of being able to be out of town, finding a high speed connection and being able to watch the Sox game or taking the laptop to a friend's house to watch the game. One question I have for anyone who can answer, are you able to get both feeds (home and away) for all games or are you limited to the home feed? Say the Sox are at Cleveland, will I have to watch the Cleveland announcers like I usually do on the dish? The feed will be the same way they do it with directtv where you get one of the sets of announcers, so you won't have the option to pick the Sox feed everytime. Sometimes you'll get em, sometimes you won't. The only big thing I'm really going to miss is when I DVR a game, I stay away from all sports websites and don't look at my text messages on my phone or anything because I can't stand to see the score and I don't think there is going to be a way for me to navigate onto the mlb.tv page and play the archived feed without stumbling onto the score. But ya it will definitely be a perk being able to catch the Sox game from wherever. Of course I think my friends will be hating this cause I'll end up being at there places and go lets watch the Sox game and pop it onto there computer.
