  1. QUOTE(Felix @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 05:16 PM) AJ is taking upper cut swings, just like he did all of last year. When he does that, he's not going to be a .300 hitter, but more like a .260 hitter. That I agree with and Its pissing me off cause we don't need his power. Dreaded leadoff walk.
  2. QUOTE(stretchstretch @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 05:13 PM) Stop talking about pitching, and realize that our LOB is horrific and is the cure to our pitching woes. Through 3 innings we already have 6 LOB and walks, strikouts, and popups has been all the production from 3-4-5, when a hit from any one of them would have put us on the board........ And how many times did the bats save the offense. Its time for the pitching to do the same and in no time both the offense and rotation will be clicking on all cylinders and people will forget all about this little stretch.
  3. QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 05:13 PM) AJ and Konerko are so coming back to earth right now. Coming back to earth...AJ was a career .300 plus hitter in Minnesota while Paulie has had seasons right around .300. I don't see where they are coming back to earth, more like a slump.
  4. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 05:10 PM) Did it look deliberate? Nope. Crede had too much of an uppercut on that swing cause he got a major cookie. We've had way too many popups and now they just gave Koronka a real easy inning. But if Freddy can do his thing, I smell a few runs coming our way next time around (BA, PAB's, GUCHI to get things started for the middle of the order and they are gonna come through).
  5. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 05:11 PM) I take it no one misses Frank Thomas (or should I say, Cade McNown) throwing the ball in that same situation? Huh? Paulie is such an under-rated 1st baseman in my book. I don't think there is a first baseman in the bigs that picks the ball like he does on throws (he saves Crede and Uribe all the time) and no one has the arm that he has over at 1st when it comes to turning 3-6-3 DP's. He's got slightly below avg range, but he usually gets to anything hit at him. QUOTE(RoyHobbs @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 05:12 PM) PK is goin to the right side and we know how good he is at doin that. once you see that he's doin that u know he's gonna come out of it. goin to the right side is not a bad thing, once he gets on top of the ball watch out Exactly, by the way welcome aboard Roy. Glad we were able to get your account all squared up
  6. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 05:09 PM) That's what I'm saying though...it seems unless those 3-4-5 guys homer, our offense is struggling to put up runs. It's just frustrating to see PK either pop up the inside fastball, or roll over on the outside slow pitch. He's a much better hitter than that. Paulie has had plenty of RBI's that haven't been on the HR, same with the other guys. Sure we hit a lot of Hr's, but Dye and Paulie are right around .300 and Thome is in the .275-.285 range. Oh and did I mention Paulie is a complete professional hitter. And where is the credit he deserves for the beautiful AB he had in the 1st to draw a walk? And ya he is a better hitter than that, but he's in a bit of a slump, it happens. Its time for the pitching to pick things up for the offense....cause we all know the offense has done plenty this year and will continue to do plenty throughout the year I'm sure.
  7. Paulie just made the perfect throw to turn the 3-6-3 double play. Inning over and that was an awesome pitch by Freddy to get Blalock to roll into it.
  8. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 05:08 PM) Problem is PK is popping up to the right side or grounding to the left side every time up lately. You can't just tip your hat to every pitcher. Its called a slump, it happens. But in this case it was a real nice pitch. Even when your at your best your lucky to get 4 hits in 10 AB's (this is when your on a major hot streak).
  9. Garcia hits Tex so one on, one out for Blalock.
  10. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 05:05 PM) This is brutal by our offense. If we don't hit a homer, we don't score. I hope they're not expecting for Garcia to hold the Rangers under 3 runs tonight. Lets not give credit to Koronka who made a real nice pitch to eat up Paulie (and the first pitch changeup was good as well). Thome and Dye both hit the ball hard. Crede just made a real nice play to get the 1st out. Tex is up now.
  11. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 04:58 PM) Seriously, where the hell was that pitch Only thing I can think of is that the ump didn't get a good view since AJ got up and faked a throw to 1st.
  12. Inning over...91 MPH hit very hard by Kinsler but Anderson is there.
  13. 2 out walk issued by Freddy and now Kinsler is up. How the hell was that just called a ball (1-0 now to Kinsler).
  14. Freddy is throwing 88 MPH on most of his FB's.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 04:54 PM) Everyone knows I hate Pods, but I think he should have been in the game tonight. He swung the bat better last night than he did in the Tigers series. Not against Koronka. Its nice to have Pablo out there, he hits lefties far better than Pods hits lefties and defensively both of them are lousy (Pabs just has an excuse...he isn't really an outfielder).
  16. Pablo didn't get much on it, but Kinsler made a nice play considering who was running down the line. Inning over. But Koronka must be into the 60's in terms of pitch count in just 2 innings.
  17. Wow, great play by Koronka there and that was a real nice bunt attempt by Anderson considering the 3rd baseman was back. Koronka was just really quick getting to the ball and getting the throw off.
  18. Man, we've had some great Ab's and Uribe gets the first hit of the game. Now its time for BA to first and 3rd em.
  19. Ya, I was wondering that exact thing thinking we really should have Crede up since AJ isn't that good against LHP. Especially when you think that this team struggles against lefties. That said they all had some good AB's and I'm happy with that. We need to get runs, but those will come, I'm sure of it. Dye has been busy out in the field thus far.
  20. I think we've all heard of the term slumpbuster. Mark Grace has termed one kind of slump buster, but I was wondering if anyone else on this site is relatively superstitious when it comes to the Sox. I know I am and today I changed my member title and sig as well as put on my "lucky" jersey to try to get the Sox mojo right. I got one final thing to do which is play some Go Go Go White Sox just before start time. I was curious to see if anyone else is or has already tried some things to put an end to the slump. During the playoffs last year, I had a routine of Go Go Sox before the game, mixed with the playoff beard (which I'd clean up during road days). Anyway thought this would be a fun thread to help get the MOJO in favor of the Sox
  21. I think Bush is being smart here, get as much money while you can when you can. As a running back or anyone playing in the NFL, you better make sure you get as good of a signing bonus as possible because any play could be your very last. He has a 5 mill endoresement deal so he could sit out if he wanted. Its just a ploy by him, but the fans in New Orleans really like him so my guess is this ploy will make him a few more million. And while that doesn't seem like a big deal when you get a decent sized signing bonus, its still a few million. Now I'll agree with you guys that the NFL needs to do something with the signing structure of some of these young guys, but you also got to remember these players are guaranteed nothing but there signing bonuses so I don't blame them for trying for every penny as long as its allowed.
  22. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 08:43 AM) No reason to beat a dead horse since we can all see that this team just isn't playing worth a damn right now. (By that I mean this isn't a thread to bash the team.) So what's going to be the turning point that shifts things the other way? Will it be some late inning heroics? A big time trade? A return back to fundamentals and Ozzie-ball? Personally I think it'll have to involve a big trade involving pitching. I think the pitching is starting to cause the hitters to press since they are having to always come back from deficits. We either need to get someone solid for the pen so we can move McCarthy into the rotation or somehow acquire another starter. The first option seems more likely but you never know with Kenny. By fixing/improving the pitching staff I believe there will be less added pressures for the offense to perform. Quality Starts
  23. QUOTE(CySox @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 12:28 PM) Also, you might now as |DaBulls| from the bulls board. I recognized the avatar as having a similar sweet style to it. Welcome aboard
  24. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 12:10 PM) I really don't think we need Soriano. Our offense is good enough to win it all, while right now our pitching isn't close. If we get Soriano, and our pitching doesnt improve then we'll still get our butts handed to us in the playoffs. I'll pass on Alf. But does the Soriano pickup buy time for Coop to try and get 4 guys together that can go out and be in the post-season rotation? Thats the question and if Kenny makes that move I think he's banking on Coop figuring something out.
  25. QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 22, 2006 -> 10:03 AM) Teams are going to be clamoring over our other prospects then....not. I'll be surprised if Fields is still a member of the Sox organization in 10 days. I wouldn't be shocked. Kenny likes him, however, I do think he's not afraid to give him up. However, I don't expect Sweeney to get shipped out but Broadway, Lummy, Tracey, Liotta, and others may be fair game (obviously not all of them, but some of them could be). You also have Heath Phillips whose a prime trade candidate as well as Arnie Munoz. Not saying they have tremendous value, but they have value in terms of a back up catcher or in Phillips case he could be a key secondary prospect in a deal.
