Could We Have It Next Year?
1st we got to do it this year. Were in great position, but the club still needs to win 1 more game. The Astros didn't get here by being a bad team and they are perfectly capable of winning 4 in a row. Sure it would be incredibly tough, but tell that to Boston. 3 wins doesn't mean squat if we don't get that 4th. I'm not going to concern myself with anything until we win 1 more game.

The forgotten Four
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 06:40 AM) Nobody on the radio, nobody on TV, nobody on this board. Nobody has mentioned the players last night celebrating while holding up the number 4. Willie was doing it, Widger was, everyone was holding up the number 4 in the late innings. And when Blum won the game for us, he walked to the dugout and everyone was giving high fives using the number 4. This is because the bench players were known as the forgotten 4 or the group 4 as they have been referred to on ESPN.com. They were all going crazy for the members of the 4 to be contributing and actually performing very well. Widge played well, Willie had a nice SB, Blum won the game, etc, etc. Many props. the four I was wondering why the hell they kept putting up the #4, LOL.

Juan Uribe
Aside from a couple mistakes last night, he's been tremendous. He's also looked excellent at the plate and showed some patience.

This outing only helps
I don't really know whats going on, but I just want to say. All post-season I continued to say that in the end, we were going to need one good outing out of Marte and he gave it to us last night. Marte pitched excellent. You can knock his two walks, but he was pitching agressively and throwing strikes. He made good pitches and rolled right through the Astros, picking up his 1st post-season win. Damaso...I've bashed you a lot this final month, but you stepped it up big time today and next time they announce your name (even if its for another team) I'm gonna be giving you a standing ovation just for last night.

Did you stay up?
QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 07:54 AM) SnB and I were in the same spot in my apartment minus a few bathroom breaks and trips to my balcony to cool down. By the end of that game we were mentally and emotionally exhausted. SnB was even a bit delirious. I think at one point i told him that i could stay up for a week straight if that's how long the game went. It was unreal. My next door neighbors must think we're absolutely crazy with all the screaming and yelling, especially after Blum's home run. I tackled SnB onto the futon by jumping on him, nearly broke him in half. All I got to say is I'm really starting to buy into what you told Steff during Sunday's game...(about god).

Did you stay up?
QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 07:51 AM) My fingers hurt.. LOL. I had 11 conversations going. Jason kept me off the ledge.. That was such an awesome win. That had to be better than the Pods win, simply because in the 9th inning, despite sounding like I had confidence, I totally thought the game was over and Duque was gonna give up a run.

Did you stay up?
QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 26, 2005 -> 07:16 AM) I couldn't speak when Blum homered.. but when Crede's ball crept down the 3B line I did yell "fair ball, fair ball".. ya know.. in case they didn't know. I was just stunned when Blum turned on it. I was just yelling, get over, get over, get over and when it did I just pumped my fist. I was getting lower and lower on energy, lol. Than when the Widge walked for the insurance run, well that was great. Gotta give it up to Damaso too, he pitched great. Marte Partay

Paul Konerko
QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Oct 25, 2005 -> 09:59 AM) were you consulting your magic 8 ball again or what? nice prediction...just having some fun looking at old posts on Konerko. Haha, pretty nice. Of course I won't take any pride in this unless the Sox step up and win 2 more. I still say a lot of people are nuts, Paulie is gonna be back, even if the Sox have to offer him 12.5 mill a year or so.

OSWALT
I should add, he's their best pitcher and this is going to be a very tough game. Oswalt pitches like he can and there is a great shot the Astros get a W with Freddy than pitching game 4 for us in a hitters heaven, which isn't good for a fly ball pitcher like Freddy. This is a big game, if the Sox take this they will be in excellent position, however, if the Astros take this they are prime to potentially tie this series up at 2. Of course Freddy will be going up against the Stro's weakest starter in Brandon Backe.

OSWALT
Also has a pretty damn good hook. However, the way he was pitching against St. Louis he didn't even have to throw his curve. His fastball is disgusting. It just jumps out of his hands and is clocked in the mid 90's and can get as high as 96-97. He has had great command of it as well and when he's spotting it he doesn't even need to throw his curve much at all. His curve is a very slow curve as well, although he will ocassionally snap a harder one.

Black Sleeved Jerseys
QUOTE(BlackBetsy @ Oct 25, 2005 -> 12:40 PM) Thanks. Was it a one piece or did it come as vest and black undershirt? I was hoping to get it as a one piece jersey. I'm wondering about a number. I'd say putting #14 on there is a no-brainer, but if they don't resign Konerko, it becomes obsolete. #35 is a good choice, as you'd be harkening back to Frank's glory days. It was a 1 piece. I got mine with 41 and McCarthy on it.

Black Sleeved Jerseys
I just got one of these. They are called home vest. Triple Threat Sports had a sale when the Sox clinched the division and authentics were 99. I got mine and was wearing it this weekend when I was in Chicago and its pretty sweet. I'm sure you can find it elsewhere as well, but www.triplethreatsports was the website I think. Grandstand probably has them as well. Just know they are called home vest

Mulder for Haren, Barton, and Calero
If given the choice, who would you take? Haren or Mulder I'd take Mulder. Now you may tell me its not that simple, but as of this point Mulder is the better of the 2 pitchers. However, Haren definately looks legit and should develop, but you never know what could happen. Calero didn't come close to reaching the A's expectations and Barton is still a minor leaguer. Financially speaking there are other aspects, obviously, but Mulder was signed to a reasonable deal. I think this is one of those trades that worked well for each team, but you can't tell me that Oakland blindly robbed the Cards. The Cards have a #2 pitcher with post-season experience thats entering the prime of his career while the A's have a #3 pitcher or a great #4 pitcher, whose still developing as well as a solid reliever (not a great one at this point..although he could return to form) and a good looking prospect, but in the end, he's still a prospect.

What happened to my Sig Pic?
Kalapse...that graphic is just sick. Rooftop, it could be that the image was pruned out. Every once in a while we clean out the server and I did that a while back and may have deleted it on accident.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Oct 19, 2005 -> 05:45 PM) I refuse to put my marker on my house. Too many people around here who might want me out of the picture. Don't worry...Mike Caruso's got your back. Than again if he fights anything like he hit, your gonna be in trouble

QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 06:42 PM) this is exactly where i was thinking....i'll bet a million to one this is the reason. Just got your message (left my phone at home on accident). I'm hoping to have it up tonight, but have been messing around with trying to come up with a nice photo gallery for them. Got my fantasy draft in a few so if I don't get it done before that, i'll have em up for sure tomorrow. They came out great.

World Series Tickets go onsale Tues
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 18, 2005 -> 05:34 PM) Thanks Steff. I think it might be worth the risk, just based on a few things. 1) If I end up not scoring tickets, I will still be downtown, maybe trying to squeez my way into Jimbos or even hang out at Grandstand. 2) I am planning on going alone. My thinking if I go alone, I might be able to score a single game ticket for cheap. It could backfire however, if the guy only wants to sell a set. 3)I really am going to give myself a set limit, only bringing down $350, and having $300 for 1 ticket. We shall see what happens. Its if Saturday tony, there is a decent shot Mario and I will be there as well so if does come down to a situation like that, we could probably find a way. Usually though a scalper will be stuck with individual tix. THey may have 4 in one area and someone comes to buy 3 and then the 1 thats left now is an outlier and because of that you can usually get that single for less. That said, sometimes you can negotiate with them (especially if its late) for 3 seats too, because they now know they will get rid of 3 tickets (this is assuming they are at the point where all they want to do is unload them as fast as possible because the game is either 5-10 minutes from starting or has just started).
