  1. QUOTE(SnB @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 11:52 AM) i've always liked fox and never liked cbs. Just seems like a much slicker presentation on fox. CBS is freaking horrible. They rank dead last in my book.
  2. QUOTE(Mercy! @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 09:58 PM) I’ve got to disagree with the folks who say that the players will be unaffected by jet lag. You don’t go back and forth across time zones as frequently as these guys have in the past few days without it affecting your body to some extent. That is undisputed biologically. They'll be tired, but when they cross the lines, adrenaline will be enough for them to get by. I think they are more concerned with Byrd having to pitch when he's not 100% (he was up in the pen today, so he won't be quite 100%).
  3. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 09:19 PM) BAN THE ANGELS FAN!!! Haha, I'm confident in our Sox. They are more than capable and if they play there style of baseball and execute they can go the distance. At the same time I see a lot of people writing off the Angels and I think thats a mistake. They are a battled tested team that plays a very similar style of ball to the Sox. Its gonna be one hell of a battle. I'd say our pitching staff is better than theres, but I'd probably give a nod up to their offense (even though it hasn't been all that good) just because if Vladdy gets hot he is the type of player that can carry a team (and they can execute and do the little things just as good as the Sox, imo). Its definately a matchup between the 2 best teams in the AL and I hope the Good Guys in Black can pull it out!!! Afterall I got my airfare purchased and am gonna bust my ass to get tix to the series when they go on sale.
  4. Trust me, the Angels aren't gonna be tired from jet lag. Maybe if it were a regular season game, but no team is gonna be tired for a post-season game. Adrenaline is all the energy they need.
  5. I dunno, we'll have to figure something out. I'll be at all of them though and I plan on getting there early. All the season tix holders in my section were joshing me today cause they always see me in my Buehrle jersey (went there the day the Sox clinched the playoffs and they were all saying they are ready for me next week). I told em this better be the last time I root for Anaheim all season.
  6. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 08:42 PM) No reason at all we shouldn't win game 1. The Angels have had to go from NY to California and now to Chicago all in a span of 3 days. Their pitching staff should be spent. Its not going to be that easy. Don't ever count the Angels out though. They are a good team that can manufacture runs and Byrd could battle. Shields didn't pitch tonight so he's available and Krod is available as well. Anything can happen and the Sox may be a little rusty. I hope the Sox can get rolling early cause in a close game the Angels will be really tough to beat (especially with Contreras on the mound, simply because the Angels can run all day on him). Hopefully Jose C just flat limits the baserunners and picks up his 2nd postseason win of the season!!!!
  7. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Oct 10, 2005 -> 08:48 PM) Yeah, Contreras vs. McPherson. -- We didn't exactly get the best of that matchup. Ya, Count was awesome that game. He was pitching like he is right now and than McPherson just hit a total bomb (Dallas was the only guy to do anything off Jose that night...he had a hit earlier in the game IIRC).
  8. The Angels talk out here is that he already had it looked at by Dr. Yocum and no news has been given back. It was a shoulder related injury though, nothing to do with his back (which is tender as hell). That said it could of been his back injury that led to the arm/shoulder injury. You know it has to be bad if Colon left though. Also, Byrd is gonna be on the mound tomorrow. Washburn's feeling like crap and the Angels were indicating that they won't be adding another pitcher to the roster and that they aren't too concerned about whether there arms will be tired (obviously early on they will be, but if the Angels can pull out a game early in the series) they'll be able to let there arms kind of ease back for the most part. For those that don't know, Byrd was warming up in the pen today though (don't know if they showed it during the telecast or not). He was up in the 2nd inning when Santana was struggling.
  9. I'll be there. I think we should have a nice tailgate on Friday for everyone thats gonna be there. The games are scheduled for Anaheim Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (if necessary).

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 12:27 PM) I look at it 100% differently. What, are you a mem ber of the White Sox? Having a 35 jersey, or 56 just tells everyone who your favorite player is, or that you appreciate the work that player has put in. I'm with you and Krush. I'd never put my name on the back of any jersey, unless I played for the team (ie my old baseball jerseys).

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Oct 9, 2005 -> 04:27 AM) I got my jersey last month for my b-day, authentic home uniform, and the folks chucked in a White Sox Jacket while they were at it. And YAS's idea is a good one, if that indeed happens, which we all hope it does. Nice, glad you were able to find one. I felt bad you couldn't find one your size while you were out here.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 02:40 PM) Had it. Its not worth the hype. Ya, the sigs way better
  13. Nah, this is coming out of my pocket. Luckily aside from a car payment I got like no other expenses since I still live at home.
  14. Nice, just checked...won't be missing anything if I miss classes on that Monday or Tuesday (if I returned later)...just in case.
  15. I found cheap flights into Chicago and I know its tentatively scheduled to begin Saturday Oct 22nd at 8 (Game 1) and than game 2 would be on Sunday. But is there a chance they would start either earlier or later? Well I understand a rainout or two could cause the games to be later, but if both teams (hypothetically) swept, would they be able to bump up the start date of the world series or would each team just get a couple extra rest days?? Thanks, I just want to make sure before I book the airfare (its refundable so I figure I should do it now). Found it for 200 bucks roundtrip into Chicago from LA.
  16. Walker will be a free agent. No need to do anything with him, plus he's no longer on the 40 IIRC.
  17. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 11:10 PM) I havent shaved in like 5 days. I am not much of a facial hair guy, so I just look funny with this peach fuzz all over my face. Hell, I will just go as far as saying I do not look good at all with facial hair. I shaved the morning of the first playoff game and I'm not shaving till they are eliminated or win it all. If it worked for Damon and the Red Sox, why can't it work for me.
  18. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 04:20 PM) you can stop belIeving now Good think you got the Irish to fall back on when it comes to Football
  19. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 02:23 PM) Well, I can't say its anything unexpected. This is Iowa State Football ® I didn't want this fact to be so, but the bright spot of this season is Iowa. Already. That's sad. Iowa is about the best team ISU will play all season, so they shouldn't feel bad about it. I just laugh at how much it means. I look more at an overall season as opposed to one win, but thats me and I guess it shows just how little I care about ISU. I care about the big boys like Michigan, OSU, Purdue, Wisconsin, etc.
  20. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 01:51 PM) So ISU lost to Baylor. I stand by my comment that we need a QB. And I stand by my comment...when I told you they were way over-rated when they got into the top 25 based on that win against Iowa. Iowa is starting to figure things out too. Solomon stepped it up today in a big way and the defense looked a lot better. They may be a sleeper later in the season and while I dont' think they will finish top 10, they are a top 15 team and could even turn into a sleeper in the big 10.
  21. I can't believe it, the club did it. It played great baseball for 3 striaght games. The Sox made a couple errors at home due to some post-season jitters, but totally made up with it with clutch hitting and pitching. It was just tremendous. Aside from Marte I think every Sox player that got some action had an integral part of this first round win. I also think Boston played there butts off. I don't particularly like Boston fans, but hey, they are a good club with quite a few likeable players. That said, I just have to say what pieces of work Ortiz and Manny are. Those pricks should get hit next time the Sox play Boston in the regular season. I absolutely despise the way they show up the opposing team nad pitcher when they hit a homer. How about they take a look at Konerko, Uribe, or AJP at how a hitter does it with a little class. So I say f*** YOU to Manny and Big Papi
  22. I'm one of Uribe's biggest fans. I hope he keeps this up. Afterall, I was the nut who thinks he has the ability to turn into a Tejada like shortstop.
  23. I have bashed El Duque all season, but he ate his wheaties and pitched his ass of tonight. That performance alone was worth the contract the Sox gave him.
  24. QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 7, 2005 -> 11:17 AM) They are first row along the lines. George Ryan sat in them Tuesday, and some other big wigs Wednesday. They are for the elite guests. :rolly Better go wait by my phone for my invite
