Willie is gonna be on the postseason roster. He's a huge asset as a pinch runner.

QUOTE(Cali @ Sep 30, 2005 -> 10:15 PM) There is still a fire going on here in the Burbank Hills. Me and my buddy just went up there and shot some video footage. Didn't get the best shots, but it was still cool. Obviously we couln't get thaht close, but still... If the Sox play down in Anaheim you gonna make it down by any chance for a game??

Clutch is 5 career walk off home runs by the man the myth the legend, JOE CREDE

Unless Gload goes about 10 for his next 10 its going to be Blum. I'd prefer Gload, but it ain't going to happen.

Cool chart Tlak. And RD, I give you the approval to go to playoff games. Your luck will change in the postseason

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 08:20 AM) I just see those two are always together, and they probably root for each other more than anyone else on the team. However, if Duque is still in the dugout, that changes my thinking a little bit. Hell, I'd assume Frank will be in the dugout or would at least expect him to be. Unless Ozzie doesn't want anyone around for potential distractions? But my guess is you'll see Tim Salmon in the Angels dugout.

I don't know about Viz. He's the one guy out of the pen with a totally rubber arm. He hasn't been too bad since the first month to month and a half of the season and Ozzie has faith in him. I really have no problem with Viz, especially in the horrid instance that we have to go to the pen early in the game cause he can go a couple innings. Of course, as Duque's biggest hater on the board, I will say this, he looked very very very sharp last night. He had great velocity and it made a difference.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 07:18 AM) That thought entered my mind too. Why would it? Duque is going to be in the dugout, Duque was on the DL and Contreras was still pitching his ass off in August (or I think he was on the DL right around when Count started his hot streak).

QUOTE(TLAK @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 07:07 AM) Take away the double and the single Marte gave up facing 5 batters and he was lights out. Marte's role is more valuable than the one El Duque would probably fill, but if you can't trust him then you can't use him and you might as well not bring him along. Did any else notice in the box that Marte got a hold (he left with the lead) and Hermanson got a blown save for coming in with runners at 2nd and 3rd with no outs and allowing one run? Correct scoring but no justice. But you also have to look at the pitch that Victor Martinez hammered. It was basically dejavu to the last time Martinez hammered a double off Marte (in the prior series in Chicago). Both of his doubles were on terrible hitters pitches.

For those of you think Colon has the Cy Young...
Chisoxfn replied to White Sox Josh's topic in The Diamond Club
QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Sep 30, 2005 -> 08:31 AM) Colon's stats aren't that great with the exception of wins. In fact he hasn't even had a great 2nd half. He has gotten a ton of run support. His ERA is 3.48 which is high for a guy contending for the Cy Young. In fact a lot of Buehrle's stats are better. I think this next start for Buehrle will decide the outcome of this thing. This race is still up for grabs. Its Bart. -
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Sep 30, 2005 -> 11:19 AM) Just out of curiosity, do you think this is something that has been happening for 1000's of years, a natural burning for arguments sake, or do you think this is happening due to human error and presence? IIRC when Yellowstone had that fire (late 80s? early 90's?), after the fact most scientists were saying that this was a good thing. A clearing of the old to make way for the young, if you will. Its part of the chaperal environment. Most of the area in this region is basically an area where fires happen naturally and burn out. It just happens that now we notice it because homes are in this region. This has zero to do with humans and everything to do with natures cycle. The fires put nutrients back into the earth and a new cycle begins and 10-20 years down the road (sometimes sooner or later) the fires will be back in those areas. Now you do have the ocassional fire started by someone throwing out a cigarette butt, etc, but the basis of the problem is the plants dry up becoming freaking tinder boxes (like Balta said) and than you get the santa ana winds coming in (which help dry out and than spread the fire).

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Sep 30, 2005 -> 08:33 AM) Hell yes! That makes me so happy. I live in NY, and I loooooooove the smoking ban. I honestly go to bars and bowling alleys much more now, because I know I won't have to breathe that crap. So, it will be very nice to have that also when I go home. I'm with you. I think the Cali area was the first to do this sort of ban and its freaking awesome in my book. I love being able to go into a restaurant and smell the food instead of smoke.

QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Sep 30, 2005 -> 10:17 AM) I probably just had a brainfart, but: -Is the only way we play Anaheim in the DS, is if CLE wins the Wild Card? -And we would play the WC winner from BOS/NY in the DS, if we have the best AL record, correct? Ya, if the wild card winner is in Boston or New York than the Sox would play the wild card team. I say this because the only way this would happen is by the Sox pretty much drilling Cleveland for 3 so they'd definately have home field advantage throughout if this situation were to occur.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Sep 29, 2005 -> 06:55 PM) Final home game would be Sunday. Play 5/6 days, only offday is Thu. Cool, thanks Brian So the schedule is (no times are known yet) Tuesday @ Chicago Wednesday @ Chicago Friday on the road Saturday on the road Sunday @ Chicago I guess they've yet to clinch home field in the first round just yet.

That is quite awesome. What was the party favor? A cigar?

That first hoodie is sweet. I love the shirt SNB and others bought, I just wish it didn't have the halfy sleeves. I'm thinking sweater but part of me wants to wait until they win the series...than I can get the playoff shirt at a discount

Cool. I guess I'll just have ot study extra early or something. So if they play Anaheim the weekend games will be in Anaheim (the Friday and Saturday ones). Than they travel back to Chicago for a game on Monday (or so I'd guess). I'd be definately down for a Friday and Saturday Sox games in Anaheim. That would be most perfect.

Ya, how do you make it a ringtone. If so tell me. I got an LG phone and I'd love it as my ring tone.
-
Do we already know? I assume we don't find that out until we know who the matchup is. I just hope the Sox don't play on Wednesday or Thursday during the afternoon (got 2 big ass tests on Thursday and Wednesday I'd like to study for them). On a sidenote, I'm assuming its 2 at home, 2 on the road and then the final at home in the best of 5?

QUOTE(Mr. Showtime @ Sep 28, 2005 -> 05:51 PM) You'll be there? Pfft! You get the days off now...you need to get out there for at least one day.
