Mine aren't all at US Cell: 6-4 @ Angels (2-1) @ Padres (1-1) vs. Dodgers (2-0) vs. Yankees (1-2)

I know where I stand, the Sox still have to take care of business and until they do, I'll be rooting for White Sox wins. Cleveland, Boston, and the Yanks losing will be icing on the cake every day.

Happy Bday Steff. I knew you'd bring the Sox a winner yesterday Hope it was a good one

His career tells me he's a good pitcher. Nuff said.

Really touching story. -
QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Sep 25, 2005 -> 04:51 PM) huge increase in attendence this season and assuming we hold the division lead no reason for it not to continue to go up next season. If we do indeed lose the division It will be really bad for attendence next year... even if we do make wildcard. A course a run in the playoffs would help 2 or a 0-3 losing would really hurt. But for this season a lot I thought it was a great improvement. Disagree, people don't remember how you got into the playoffs, they just remember what you do in the playoffs and that you made it.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 10:50 PM) Yeah that's a tough stretch. -- They could lose 3 of those. I can't see them dropping all 4 of them. Of course, Hart could come back like Rex said, and they could win three of those games too. -- I can't see them running the table against those teams, even with Hart. I can't either...not the way our Hawkeyes are playing. I think they'll figure things out, but I expect at the very least one more loss on the way and realistically two. They need to get there line in better shape for next year (both lines). -

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 06:13 PM) Wisconsin is going to be tough to beat by anyone in the Big Ten, or anyone in the nation for that matter. That OL with Calhoun behind it is something special. UNC ran for something like 40 yards against Wisconsin and yet today against NC State with 4 guys on the DL that will be playing in the NFL, they got over 180 rushing. Calhoun also ripped off 150+ yards on Carolina and Carolina held NC State to 20 yards rushing today, thats with 4 backs that were top 20 coming out of high school all rushing for state. Wisconsin is for real. As for Louisville, am I reading that right? Are they losing to SOUTH FLORIDA 45-14? I keep reading that score, I just can't get it through my head. What? How? Ya, I saw that score and was like cripes. Thats one I couldn't see happening. Louisville pretty much had a cake-walk to an undefeated schedule but thats why they play the games. -

Michigan is on the verge of a 2 game losing streak now. Cause its just a matter of time till they get drilled by MSU next week. MSU....The best team in the Big 10. -
Ozzie handled this situation extremely well, imo. He wasn't afraid of it like Baker was when talking about demoting Sosa. This could be one of the key's to the rest of the season. And I think its going to turn out great.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 06:33 AM) If I'm Konerko and I get even the same money that the Sox would offer elsewhere, I'd walk. It has been a very frustrating past 5 years for the Sox, year after year having a shot at making it and falling short. I don't see the '06 Sox as a playoff team. Even if we make the playoffs this year and do well, I'd understand if he walked. There are quite a few teams that would like to be in that position. Not many teams are in contention year in year out. The Sox have done just that. In fact, I gotta be honest, the Sox organization has some similarities to the Angels organization before it won the series. They had the same solid nucleus around for a couple years, always having big expectations but never having things pan out. They finally added Appier and Sele in the offseason, giving them some solid pitchers (or so they thought) and found a way to get in the playoffs and went from there. Ever since than there entire organizaiton has changed. My point is, as long as you can compete and are in the races, you have a chance each and every year to do something special. Detroit, KC, probably 20 teams in the majors would love to be in the position the Sox have been the past couple years.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 04:57 AM) Interesting Statement here; The Red Sox and Angels look to be the 2 teams most interested in him. If the Sox are going to compete next year, Konerko needs to be resigned. There is absolutely zero doubt in my mind that he will be one of the key's to the off-season. The Sox can not afford to let him walk.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 09:45 AM) MSU O=good ILL D=ungood MSU is one of the best teams in the big ten. They are better than my Hawkeyes and better than Michigan. I don't know what there schedule holds, but they are better than Purdue too. -

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 09:44 AM) You didn't miss anything... Iowa is teh suck. No O or D-line = Total Domination. -- I guess they had to pay for that beatdown they handed OSU last year. Ya, I saw the score...looking bad. They are really missing some of the key losses of this past off-season, especially some of the leadership on the defensive end. I thought they wouldn't miss a beat defensively with Greenway and Abdhul Hoge still there, but boy was I wrong. They are really missing Sanders and Roth as well as the solid defensive tackle (name slips my mind right now). Hopefully they get going. My guess is 3-4 losses this year but I think they are going to be really good next year. Ferentz could get things figured out, but in college football your only as good as your lines. -
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 02:29 AM) Chad Tracy - .299/.350/.536. Age 25, can play 1B/3B/OF. Home and Away Splits are almost identical, and he's still about .280/.290 from the ASB. Making $335,000. Lyle Overbay - .278/.370/.458. 3 Years older, weaker power stats, known for being a 1st half hitter. Just asking, if the asking price for Tracy and Overbay was pretty much the same (and it could be, since these 2 teams need young pitching / bullpen help), wouldn't you rather Tracy instead of Overbay? And the price isn't going to be the same...its going to be less, imo. I've log been on your said of this Andrew...Chad Tracy >>>> Lyle Overbay

Funny thing is as of now Rupe is the lone player doing anything. Francisco has dissapeared since his suspension and I don't know what exactly Anthony Webster is up to. Rupe is the guy that will have to be the difference maker.

Gordon is a very hard worker. I wouldn't be shocked if he developed into a decent defensive player down the road. Obviously he'll always have problem guarding taller shooting guards, but the Bulls are lucky to have options since Hinrich is such a great defensive player (even though he's a little short, he still can do a solid job against taller SG's, plus the Bulls can always throw out some rotations). I love BG's scoring ability and he knows he has to work hard on defense. He'll be a lot better this year, imo. He was a total hole last year it was pathetic. And I personally still like Deng more like Igodola. Deng is just a solid defensive player with some pretty good offensive game. As his jumper develops better he's going to turn into quite the slasher, something the Bulls haven't had in a long time. Think of him as a better defensive version of Michael Finley in the future.

QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 24, 2005 -> 08:16 AM) Which means we likely won't get it here, as that's the West Coast ABC game. Instead, I think we get the 2:30 game of ND/Wash. I get the ND game and the Oregon game. I get royally f***ed and miss my Hawkeye game which was supposed to be on at 9 AM. Instead some dumb cartoon was on. -
I don't blame the media. If I were a respected baseball insider I wouldn't be going around naming names of guys that me be juicing. Thats totally speculative and while you may here things, its one thing to say a guy may be getting dealt and its a whole nother thing to accuse a guy of being on steroids based on hearing it from someone your talking to (how the hell do you know its true and if its not, you could be sued for libel I believe). Its one thing for talking heads to say things or the people o nthe radio like Mike North (who aren't insiders) but if a guy like Gammons started calling players out based on rumors he heard, he'd be very quickly out of a job and people around the baseball world wouldn't want to talk to him. Knock Gammons all you want, but he's a pretty good reporter and I think he knows his stuff.

Roy Williams was a f***tard in that game. Everyone knows in those situations a safety can't get ballsy, they got to make sure the receiver doesn't get by him. On both plays the receiver not only beat the corner it beat Roy Williams who wasn't playing over the top of the receiver. Brunell made great passes, but there is no excuse for the shoddy coverage job by Roy Williams (especially since it appeared like they were playing cover 2) and when your in cover 2 there is no way a receiver should get by you because your playing totally over the top of them. -

What time is the Iowa game on on Saturday. I'm really looking forward to it. I just know I'm gonna get royally f***ed though and they'll be showing some local broadcast out here instead of the Iowa-OSU game. Come on Hawekeyes...it would be a huge huge win if you can beat OSU on the road. -
QUOTE(Randar68 @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 08:53 AM) I shudder at the thought of Pods playing LF, let alone seeing him in CF. A team built on pitching needs to be strong up the middle...therefor Pods is not an option to play CF.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 23, 2005 -> 04:39 AM) Lost in the extra inning disaster was a masterfully pitching performance by Brandon McCarthy. He matched one of the best pitchers in baseball pitch for pitch and put his team in position to win. Hail BMac!! Right now him, Garland, and Contreras are the 3 best pitchers on the White Sox. And if I see El Duque start in favor of him again this year, I will put up a hissy fit.
